For what ever reason this art decision was made I do not know. But to me it looks more like Mechwarrior Tactics mechs than it Does Alex's art we are used to for MWO.

Moduality of hardpoint positions.

Every design since Jagermech looked much worse than it could've if the mesh was fixed (for instance, BJ-3).

Yes, it is completely possible to make dynamic mesh for mechs for all the options look great (ok, just most), but it takes too much time and effort, more than any game development studio would actually bother with. MW:T simply used dynamic meshes from the start, that's why all of their mechs look ugly.

The overwhelming cry of the forums seems to be 'Change it Back' except for the torso weapons upgrades.

You need to be able to use ALL the inside missile tubes before the "outside" pods even come into play.

6xSSRM
4xSRM6+2xSRM4
6xLRM5
2xLRM15
2xLRM10+2xLRM5

I'm sure there are more but these should all be able to fit INSIDE the missile launcher.

WTF is going on.... what a terribad patch;

Broke Catapults
Broke Selected Group Fire
Added Jester

According to Reppu, the catapults aren't broke as the hit boxes are still the same size no matter how many LRM add ons the game puts on.

I don't pilot Catapults but I agree the new VCR tubes are dumb.

They are bad, but they are not as bad as they are poorly thought through.. You dont annex the drugstore for the library until you have books falling out of every nook, cranny and shelf you can fashion.. It also helps if the drugstores already got a new lot purchased for itself.

I love to see work going into the models, I hate to see it wasted by someone, somehow, not understanding what needs to be added externally (from a max build) vs something that should be wholeheartedly inline with the spirit of a build and fitting fully within the chassis.

this whole thing brings into question the idea of the open/close missile bay on catapults

if you're an experienced catapult pilot you know to have your bays open a good deal of the time to ignore the delay of them opening before your missiles can fire. this makes you a much bigger target. So any real pilot would ask themselves WHY have the doors in the first place? I think the stalker is the only other mech with missile bay doors (which open down, and out of the way--convenient).

Perhaps in theory they protect the missiles from being damaged by incoming fire... tho I highly doubt the developers have included that level of detail into the game.

They are supposed to help protect the arms from damage when closed.

Anybody heard anything from PGI about this? I haven't seen anything at all.

Damage to the location is reduced by 10% with closed doors. This feature was added a long time ago so you'll have to take my word for it since I'm not going to dig up ancient patch notes. :)

Truth to be told I love the looks of the new Catapults. But I agree that they are bad.

Yours is the first positive post I've seen on the new Catapult look.

I'd be fine with the VCRs and Earlobes if they only applied after the fixed tubes were full, and we reverted to the older, better looking C1/A1 boxes.

i'm glad i don't play this game anymore. would have been much worse to see them destroy these beautiful mechs with poor craftsmanship and shortcut mentality if i was still playing

If you dont play the game anymore then get the **** off the forums. You and everyone like you are ruining the forums for everyone else who like to add actual CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

Seriously. People need to learn to discuss things without being so dickish about it.

For me, this raises the question of how they'll eventually manage the left torso of the Centurions when they add the dynamic mesh to it (as each of MWO's standard CN9 variants has 2-3 missile hardpoints in that location). -_-

For me, it depends on how they do it - I tend to run 2x5 for my CN9 missile racks, and I wouldn't mind if each of those launchers took one column/door (e.g. LRM-5 #1 fires five missiles from the left-hand column/door & LRM-5 #2 fires five missiles from the right-hand column/door). -_-

Though, there are those who like to mount as many SRM-4s and SRM-6s on their CN9s as will fit, and I wonder if the missile mounts on the MWO rendition of the CN9-A/AL/D will go the way of the Rocket Launchers on BattleTech's CN9-H. :)
