I think it is a GOOD thing that a single pilot cannot beat 3-4 mechs against him. How realistic is that? What happened to Maverick and Goose when they left their wingman?
Directional jump jets? You'd need space shuttle boosters to get 45 tons of metal to move around like you could in MW3.
This is a different game than MW3. IMO, rocking a laser SCat, using lag to juke back and forth, JJs, etc.... we could all do it. Most of us here were good at it in MW3. It was how the game was built.
This game focuses on a bit more realism..actual physics..tactics, strategy, teamwork. Maps have terrain that can actually impact your game play.
Individual pilot skill is different from MW3, but it is still very much there. Circle fighting was a good skill in MW3. Circle fighting is the sign of a nooblet in MWO. Once you get the full hang of the game, you'll likely be as good here as you say you were in MW3. (or not, really. Because we're all older now and these damn young whippersnappers now have the reflexes we used to have)

Well my reflexes are still really good because I was only 16 or 17 when I played mech3. So I'm like 28 but I'm sure there will be 40+ year old mech vets. Also age doesn't actually matter as much as you might think.
You know the lag shooting thing I don't actually try to make an argument for and I won't. The only thing being good at lag shooting helped me with is that now I'm really good at automatic weapons in Tribes Ascend. It's kind of like lag shooting in mech3 except everyone has the same lag spot and that spot changes based on their movement and your movement. It's not even useful to talk about it vs MWO because there is no lag shooting here.
I still think mech3 was the better game for expressing skill even after you take lag out of the equation. I WAS able to 4v1 to win the game in MWO pug. So that was 4v1 SHOOTING at me all at once. So it's possible in this game but here's what I had to do: rule out the dumb stock cat in close range, rule out the bad player not hitting anything, and rule out the guy that already had a lot of damage on him by finishing him fast. Only one guy was good and had full health on his mech.
So really it was a 1v1. The problem is that a real 4v1 with everyone shooting at me would be impossible to win against actual good players. In mech3 competitive it would have been unlikely but possible. I'm just saying the more skill based you can keep things the better it will be for real matches and this game doesn't work that way so far. It's just a bit too 1 dimensional. I know it's a different game but that's no excuse.

But waaaayyyy to damn lazy to grep this thread to see if I know anyone that's made it here.
Spidey01 with some forms of x's added as needed for the zone. Under MW4, I was with the Shadow Warriors (SW), Mystic Death Legion (MDL), Dragion Empirex (DEx; the unit black listed in MWA after we had too long an undefeated streak and pretty much just the Kell Hounds would occasionally play us), and one of the Scorpion something or others in Vengeance League. Also had friends in Old Timer's Clan (OTC).
