Not what I experience though sadly. I'd love to get in on your games! Must be amazing for team mates to actually want to move and do something!
I'm concerned group wide comms would kill any social chatter me and my friends have though. I'm not sure you'd want to have me and three others talking about our days......mind you we wouldn't so we'd be forced into silence.
That don't sound so good. I play MWO for the social chatter between people I know well. Random comms would certainly kill that off.

But then, this topic has been made pointless now with the advent of the group queue. I'd actually like to see in game voip now and have only one queue, the group queue.
I'd lose the ability to socialise with my mates mid match ( a very negative point) but I'd love to see the reactions to MWO once a lot of people see it.
One group of four on ts etc gives a slight advantage-but 8,10 or 12 is a different ball game.
What then will the pro solo crowd going to say when they STILL get smashed into paste by premades? They would have comms exactly the same. All the same tools. Yet STILL get owned. I say this because some of us evil 4 man premades have come up against 12 mans and the like, and the level of play is in a different league from the normal pug queue player. you NEED team wide voip to combat them.
I'll admit that readily.

You forgot the people that will at this point be wearing two headsets(they are out there and will do this). As for the over importance of the solo player, they could hire twenty three people to play "AI" or move to a single player game format?

I would like to see everyone pulled into one queue, however having solo only and solo group friendly (for rounding out groups) could also be useful. As for socialization, sure you would need to tone it down in a public setting or move to private comms thus forgoing the information stream, no answer exists for this other than you must choose (as it has been and will be{until the mind can be fed multiple channels of information as well as output to multiple channels simultaneously}), forgo one or deal with many.

Against some of them you need every tool available to even make an attempt at leaving a dieing mark. Point in all this being, communication in game was badly abused as far as implementation .. all had many options and work arounds (some had to adapt, most used the options they already had in place, others still continued on in silence). Eventually the game will be fleshed out, be it properly or shoddy. Some will adapt, many will continue to use the options they have in place, those that use both will appear and others still will continue on in silence. I agree with the upheaval though, if it ever comes in-it'll be chaos, worth more trouble than gain I think. But if we do get it, I definitely want to see just ONE queue. After all the only difference that was voip is now moot? Both teams have full voip and therefore should be even field no?

Of course, this is full of its own flaws (that information has got to stream somewhere on screen{and indeed would need to be filtered/read/attended[further complicating battle awareness and this sentence]}), issues(information pile up{screen clutter}), difficulties(fast input method{slow[attention heavy] output/uptake format}) and necessary hoop jumps to be used simultaneously with private VOIP solutions.
But I believe this issue (private group socialization during public group interaction causing partial alienation) is just a natural part of mass online interaction that will grow and complicate things. That is, until we indeed can take in, filter and out put information casually on many levels.

Why not QQ'ers, start for, pay for and maintain your OWN Teamspeak server and put it out there? I bet real money they would sticky that announcement quicker than a novas arms blow off!!
Why demand additional outlays from this company that has a hard enough time meeting current demands.

we see this all the time with all games with voip.
so in the end it would only benefit those who want to listen to all of that.

Just like TK ers got booted people constantly using bad language and not contributing to the game can get reported/banned also.If you have people rage yapping in game then report them if they get personal.As for those whining about "someone doing something" that has been done by any player out there sooner or later.We' re human and will screw up whether it's a new player or compettitive player. I've had 2 players complain, in different games,(just today)about my atlas build."wheres our brawler"?Lrms on an atlas?". Both games i used up all my ac20 ammo 2 kills 10 assists 800+ damage 2nd 1 kill 9 assists 900+ damage.Neither of them had much to say afterwards after making themselves look like fools.If PGI wants this game to grow instead of stagnate it needs a team voip.

If you whine about premades now, after you can have same communication as them-the problem's with you not the evil premades.

If we have an option to mute specific players,
AND the game remembers this,
AND possible players who will be muted often enough start as muted...
AND you have an option to switch of VoIP entirely (which should be the default in the Options))....
... then i see no reason to be against having VoIP in the game.
I have played 2 or 3 different Call of Duty titles, and found VoIP was ok for me their.
I muted the trash talkers at the beginning of the match, and then just played.
Would have been better if players who where muted very often would have been auto-muted from the start, but what ever.
However, as CoD is very fast paced, i found VoIP to be not so helpful.
For MW:O, it's a bit different.
Given the right players,VoIP could be really helpful here.
(I am talking about PuG and small group-queue; Units will of cause use their own VoIP, and continue to do so.)

I do not enjoy hearing people talk while in game as text can be ignored.
as long as i can turn off sending & receiving audio from other players in game then I guess I won't have a problem.
