I cannot be sure, but it is likely that Krigg did not email his entry to MoonUnitBeta, which is explicitly stated in the entry rules as a must. There are many people who just posted their art to the topic, but that was not what was asked. Perhaps we should ask Krigg if he emailed it in too? Also, I believe it was to be anew fresh take on the Marauder. Kriggs is basically the original unseen bulked up slightly.
I do agree it's a very nice pìece.

I know Nathan Foxbane listed it in the submissions in post 295 here below. I was watching for that one to vote for.

I guess Krigg`s is too close to the original Unseen. It seems like a very minor reskin to me.

What I don't understand is why these designs are acceptable to people when the official PP TRO artwork is not. It makes no sense to me.
Probably because the Phoenix TRO MAD:
A. looks very skinny and generally out of proportion (imho)
B. Is a redesign that is placed in the year 3060 or close to it (I can be mistaken, please correct me if i am wrong), so it doesnt exactly fit into MWO, timewise.
C. The reseen TRO artwork does not fit into MWO stylewise (imho), so...
D. ... Moon started a contest to see if the community can come up with something better to represent the iconic original Marauder in MWO.
and finally
E. already succeeded in doing so.
Edit: Slightly off topic: I already found my favourite Warhammer redesign Add an additional SRM6 launcher in the right shoulder and relocate those small energy weapons in the torsos and there you have it!

Apocalips07 made a very sleek design that I would love to see in game but I think it is a bit too off style for the rest of the mechs we have.
Marcobra, ResidentCrow and Fherot's designs are all the best looking as far as Art quality goes, but each has attributes that makes me think they would not work well in game.

Awesome designs out there!
i decided to vote for my 5 favourites, and i was surprised when i got to shimmeringsword's and i had all my votes spent already... because i generally really like his art so far... :3
carrioncrows, fherot, karyudo, marcobra and residentcrow get my 5 votes...
and a honorary mention for shimmeringsword's design... ;)
i did not enter my own concept in the end, it is still work in progress... but! the contest motivated me to take out my mechpencils and back drawing on real paper again... also my wacom got dusted off and reconnected to play around with stuff...
i discovered the contest only 2 or 3 days from closing, so i just thought i'd give it a try, even though i knew from the beginning that i would not finish in time... in the end real life got the upper hand of my time and i did not finish my concept... i am going to finish it either way, since this contest really got something inside me moving again...
i will be posting my finished concept somewhere around here when it is finished (ok, definition of finished for me does not really exist, but you get the idea) ... ;)
Cheers!

Hi! I combed through my e-mail and nothing was submitted by Krigg. Nathan Foxbane compiled the images in the thread, but he did not know what was submitted or not.

Thanks for checking. I really like his Marauder, much beefier than the spindly, almost War of the Worlds tripod original TRO mech. I'm sorry I made you do work, though! You're doing a great job with this contest! I wish I could fund a Warhammer, Rifleman and Crusader contest!

The Marauder is a hard mech to do justice to, because it's so unusual and ungainly. For such a big machine it looks like it would just fall over under it's own weight, or fall forward because of a high center of gravity. Krigg's version looks like a mech instead of an officer battle pod!
I did 'like' several others in the contest, though. I think Hammur's is both creative and really mean looking! Namorga's version is also a mech I'd enjoy piloting, and it really captures the 'MAD' part of the Mad Cat. That is, the Mad Cat could have evolved from that one. The styling is a little medieval looking, but maybe that styling could be applied to a different family of mechs, like clan mechs or something. Considering the complete redesign of so many inner sphere mechs, I'm looking forward to seeing what they're going to do with the Clan chassis. I would almost hoped they hired another artist to design them - not out of disrespect to Alex Iglesias' work, but because a different artist may provide a completely different angle by which to design the looks. (I am a fan of Iglasias' work, btw, and I really want them to redesign the centurion to match the concept version we all saw first! What a sleek redesign of such a boxy, boring, clunky mech!)

Bad thing is that i'm not familiar with BT lore and have not much time to properly design mech. So when first designs comes in thread i found out that my submission ... well ... will not win anything. =) But i got some likes. yay! =)
Okay back to my favourites.
#4 Dadrick does not look like 75t mech and have some issues with implementing this design as game model. But i would like to see it in game. =)
#10 Hammur. I dunno why he use this image as a submission. I prefer ones that was in first thread. It looks like it can be in game without any improvements. It can be reasonable choice - have arms that defend torso. Big enough for heavy mech.
#18 Marcobra I like legs here. And screaming viewport. Nice shoulder mounting point. Not the whole design. But may i take this parts to the game?
#20 Nomorga Wooo those feets - they scary me. Combine it with legs from Marcobras =) And i like overall lines of design also. Have no english words for my feelings... =\
#24 ResidentCrow and #25 Shimmering Sword - Guys - you rock. designs are completely different. But i love both. I cannot choose one. Take viewport, legs and feets from previous designs and i will die from happiness because i will have not one but two marauders!

#3 Carrioncrows: I like the digitigrade legs, long forearms, and lower part of the torso. Really just makes it look alien without actually being outright alien and improbable. The exaggerated upper torso confuses me a bit, but works for the more vertical orientation of this redesign.
#4 Dadrick: Love how the engines from the original were replaced on this one. How the autocannon and heat sink area are both part of and separate from the rest of the torso at the same time. Nice nod to what might have been a bit of inspiration for the Timber Wolf design aesthetics.
#7 Fherot: It successfully makes the Marauder more alien and less alien at the same time. The unusual center torso shape, exaggerated shoulder/side torso supporting a short upper arm and a long forearm is both unexpected and well executed. Forearm shape is distinctive without losing the club like feel.
#17 Karyudo DS: A healthy mix of various redesigns and original joint placement while keeping with the MWO style. Trouble trying to tell exactly how the Gauss Rifle is positioned and center of gravity concerns keep it from being one of my very favorites.
#18 Marcobra: Hands down favorite. It has the MWO feel, basic Marauder features, aggressive lines and stance, and heavy 'Mech bulk. Digitigrade legs with well placed joints push it further from the original while keeping the rear canted aesthetic. Old Marauder "feel", brand new beast.
#24 ResidentCrow: Same old layout, very different aesthetic.Floating guard plates and asymetric fidly bits are just plain cool.
#25 Shimmering Sword: SS aesthetics using FD design style all in a speedpaint? What is not to love? A hulking silloette and heavy 'Mech bulk give it an intimidating presence well matched to the name.
#28 SloCat: Got that nifty TRO style matched with the iconic gangly profile. I do not know where the thrid laser came from, but I like it. The high set cockpit is oddly appealing. Lacking the usual pronounced aft secotions on the torso makes the autocannon seem more exotic and menacing.
Thank to all the entrants for the amazing takes on the Marauder and I wish you all luck. Keeping the number of likes under control is hard.
