@Patrick, what does CTC mean? I'm not familiar with the terminology.

Working on a post now, but depending on how long it takes I may need to sleep and finish it later.

Hey, I was just about to write up a post but I'm wondering, do we have a map with grid right now or are we just making it up as we go?

EDIT: Went for blanks for now so I won't lost the post by accident. The intended grids are one in each remaining direction from us. I would assume that unless we have proof against it, we're going to treat that direction as hostiles confirmed, so the higher priorities would be the unknowns right now.

I keep meaning to attempt to get around to map making, I'm just sorely lacking in the skill department for it. I'll try my hand whenever I get some free time to do it.

I feel like I'm supposed to wait for more pilots to post, but don't want Midale 2.0 to die the same death by starvation that the original did. Thoughts?

Oh, and for whomever asked about "CTC!": that is how we used to indicate we had "Contact!" with the enemy back in the older versions of the MechWarrior series (before teamspeak, and even after when it wasn't working). I guess I just always associate it with that. I can retcon the call if folks want.

No problem with CTC mate, just wasn't sure what it meant.
I'm working on a post right now, hopefully it'll be up in a few hours.

I take the lack of gameplay lately is because the story have entered combat stage and characters are gonna, well, start dying?

I mean, they're adorable! I totally laughed out at Sasha's baby-surprisepart, and Mama Cass is just brilliant. But I feel like for the sake of drama one of them has to die....

I thought the lag in gameplay was due to a polite resignation while we wait for some of the other players to get a word in. We haven't heard much from the scouts since we touched ground. I don't know if Thom is intent on giving us a blood bath right out of the gates, especially since he destroyed the entire command company before we even hit the ground. Something tells me he's going to want to weed us out little by little through the course of the story.

I apologize for my total inactivity, we've been pretty shortstaffed at work and as a result it's been an intense few days. Just been utterly drained - going to watch Top Gun or similar later and try and work up some ASF enthusiasm.

As Rick mentioned, it's mostly a chance for some of the others who have signed on for the RP but haven't yet had a chance to write about hitting to ground to do so. I'm going to be kicking forward a post for Sasha soon.

Take your time, dear people, it's just I'm really digging this multi-perspective kind of storytelling, and you guys' writing are pretty damn solid.

Sorry for no post from me this weekend. My production line has been doing 'extended runs.' I'm currently getting ready for day 8 of a 12 day stretch. Trying to spend the few hours of free time I have with the Fam-Bam.

@Rick, any bloodbath right off the bad is all up to you. I'm thinking you'll steam roll over the defenders for the most part as the bulk of the defenders are on another continent, which reminds me I need to attempt to pound out some maps for you guys.

I feel that no one should die simply for the sake of dying. We'll probably be involved in combat for quite some time now. Accidents happen and the unexpected will occur. one of us might either die a death of a thousand cuts or go down in a sudden ambush. Also, it would be pretty emberassing if we'd suffer casualties from a handful of tanks already.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Marsden_II
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Tiger

The Tiger fits in great with the planetary history from the reunification war. I would assume that none of the primitive variant would be on planet of the Marsden II, but is a Lyran relic from that era; probably a militia requisition a couple hundred years ago.

While these units are outdated that does not exactly mean they are push overs. As of now I think we have the upper hand with the scout lance deployed outside of the airport for the most part. We have them on two sides in between buildings where they have taken up positions; maneuverability is going to outclass their fire power (the brunt of which is in the tiger's turret mounted ac 10). The Marsden II's aren't too much to worry about unless you get too close, but they do pack a lot of armor. The main question, is how many of them are there? The other advantage that we have is that I think, for the most part, we will be within range of the dropship's weaponry, giving us ample cover should they poke their heads out of they're hiding spots.

Is the Crimson King going to relocate while we head to Cactus City?

For what it's worth, Rogue and I are reliant on the Crimson King to refuel at the moment. Our fighters run on liquid H2, and I don't know that a rural airfield would store that.

Speaking of fighters, we got any Intel on what kind of fighters we're gonna have to expect? Conventional fighters might actually prove more dangerous to us than aerospace because being specifically setup for atmospheric combat, they can be a bit more more agile and I'd make sense for them to be there because they are cheap and simple fighter crafts - perfect for backwater planets and local militia.

I'm kind of expecting things along the lines of
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Planetlifter
http://www.sarna.net...onal_Fighter%29

And if those guys do have access to some modern designs:
http://www.sarna.net...SF-23_Protector
http://www.sarna.net...MSF-42_Bluehawk
(Those guys would be VERY dangerous... maybe a bit too much, but that's your call Thom)

Conventional aircraft can certainly be dangerous, especially in numbers. They can carry the same bombs aerofighters can, which makes them a threat to ground targets. But in air-to-air combat, conventional fighters and aerospace fighters are not really playing in the same league. :D

For an idea of the amount of power available to an ASF (and because I couldn't help myself :D ) . . .
