Engine rating.

Yes there are two variants that allow you to equip a engine rating better than 300. The Awesome 9M and Pretty Baby. It's known the Pretty Baby is rubbish, and the 9M is arguably the best Awesome build. But what about the other 4 variants from the 8Q build?

300 Max.

you said "awesomes" have the least engine cap, i just showed you that this isn't true.
and while all of my statements are based on the 9M, i also own an AWS-8R, and it performs pretty well. in fact, the AWS-8R is my best mech when it comes to K/D ratio (whatever that counts)

yeah... i think that's an usual reaction when someone has no more arguments for his point of view.
you could just have said something like "ok, i was wrong in some points, but in my opinion the awesome still is a bad mech", that would have been ok for everyone... see you mate =)

There are several different types of posters around here, here are the two most common.

A. Legitimate people who want to have an open and honest discussion.

B. People who will go out of their way to destroy another persons internet experience with blah upon blah upon blah.

You my friend fit into category "B"

You don't have to agree with me. I freely admit when I am wrong.

Post after post of nitpick, angst, technicalities, drama. It's exhausting.

For the love of god say something that contributes to the conversation in a meaningful way.

Its been my experience over the past couple of weeks driving my 9M that one of the Awesome's biggest weapons is when someone under estimates it.

Please people, keep thinking that it's the most useless mech ever (ok, i know it's not great, but it can be worthwhile).

I still think it can work very well as a support mech with lrms but poking your arms around rocks and mindlessly spewing lrms is very not awesome. I just wish it had a slimmer model and no ghost heat so we could live up to it's name by wading out into battle throwing ppc everywhere and brawling with our amazing arm twist like an awesome awesome should. PGI really dropped the ball when they converted tabletop models into 3d without taking into account that we don't hit locations based on dice rolls anymore.

Having a higher engine cap would help just for squeezing extra heatsinks into our builds but I don't feel like it's one of the fundamental flaws of the mech. Either the model needs to go on a diet and slim down or ghost heat needs to go back to the drawing board because right now the ratio of damage to survivability is just not on par with it's peers. Yeah we can easily hang back and top the scoreboard, but 1v1? There are mediums I'd be scared to go up against.

I have mastered slotted all AWS chassis with the exception of the PB. I played the AWS exclusively through closed beta.

I get a real kick out of people who say the mech does a support role just fine (LRM / PPC boat). As if that is the only role the AWS can and should do.

It cracks me up when people talk about KDR on a 60 LRM, XL'd 8R.
It just tickles my ribs when they say the AWS is fast, a point that is only true of 2 chassis, of which both have the worst hard point layout of then entire line.

My point is this, ton for ton because of its flaws it is the weakest mech ingame. I have had a 1400+ point damage game on my 9M in CB, back when you could alpha 4 LL's.
The 8V was an Atlas destroyer with 3 SRM 6 and 3 LL's.
However all the changes to kill energy weapons further and the Fracked up Hit Detection for SRM's relagate it to a second rate chassis compared to say any Victor.

You mean the one match where my team had 9 people (3 disconnects) versus your 12.

The one match where I went 1v1 against a highlander and walked away with a cherry red torso and he didn't.

The one match where you sat in the back and just so happened to clip my sliver of a CT?

Way to go.

You survived a match where you outnumbered your opponents.

Grats.

Seriously, you should feel good about it.

Didn't say it was. I won a 1v1 versus a 90 ton mech in a Shadowhawk and you cleaned up. Good for you, bad for the highlander. You really accomplished a feat of amazing skill.

lol, you were not even aiming for me. You where shooting the Kintaro and I just happened to walk into the beam.

But hey, have a happy thanksgiving anyways.

Yeah, boasting because you killed someone that was essentially the walking dead, not really all that impressive for the record.

Now, if you had killed him on and he was piloting a Highlander with an AC/20 and 2 PPC's, one on one early match....that would be impressive.

it's not about being impressive, but to show some people that the awesome is agood mech when you know how to use it. and when i get the chance to kill someone ingame, who states the awesome is just bad (and tries to prove his view with false statements like engine-cap and blah), that's a bonus for me

Even Thresh got killed by a n00b with a blaster one time in Quake 2. Singular anecdotes, taken out of context, are not compelling evidence.

Just now, Lost my energy arm and that side torso was unarmored and orange internals. Other team was VERY VERY LRM heavy, even the commando but I survived and torso twisted and outstepped most of the LRMS.

2nd line brawler/hit and run AWS-9M build, 1LL 3ML 1ssrm6 2ssrm4 AMS BAP 385XL 85kph rest is heatsinks and srm ammo

But on the topicof hitboxes I dont think the Awesome battlemech is useless and the shoulder hitbox idea for all and a bigger engine cap for the 8 series (say 300 up to 340 engines) would make them even better.

The Awesome is a very interesting mech design. I may not need to explain how any mech only gets a certain number of features. The Awesome, generally, gets the hardpoints to make an energy assault terrifying but it's also a walking barn.

From the front and back.

Just like the other assault mechs such as the Atlas and Battlemaster you have to twist your arms toward the damage whenever you are not firing and if you run an XL engine in any of those you can't wonder about it when you're torso dead.
