I have a different view: It's a mode for people who are tired of those idiots who won't HELP you defend your base and get you killed or lose the game by charging off to god-knows-where with no planning or coordination. You earn way more C-bills and XP for fighting right now anyway, on top of that. Without having to worry about anything but killing the enemy and surviving, not about herding your glue-eating teammates into some kind of organized plan, the frustration level will probably decrease and my winnings will at least go up, regardless of the odd bad game here and there..

Those glue-eating teammates who won't help defend the base should be punished with less XP and fewer C-Bills, not rewarded with a new game mode that caters to the lowest common denominator. This game was billed as a tactical simulator, not Call of Duty: Special Olympics.

so you think releasing a buggy UI 2.0 will be a good idea??

imagine the rage people will get when a game wont launch or mech wont be customized or loadouts wont be saved etc etc etc.. the amount of frustration and the drop in player base will be significant..

and just imagine a new player (your actual target audience) coming in to play some mechs (as they love them) and find a buggy interface..you seriously expect them to stick around for long??? well i dont, they will just leave saying bah its a another buggy game..

please please dont release a buggy UI2.0..do some heavy public testing first

Think of it this way do you really want those "glue-eating teammates" in community warfare ,a game mode where straight up winning will (hopefully) be more important then the number of kills you got? A separate deathmatch only queue would give them their own sandbox to play in. And besides even CW could uses a deathmatch mode mix in with some more advance game modes.

So more of the same.

Take a previous game mode change one thing, bam! new game mode. Took them over a year to figure this one out. Again.
Release of a new feature (UI 2.0) that is going to buggy and unwanted in current state, and there's no ETA still.
CW is still being planned out. Still no ETA.
Breaking away even more from Battletech. (Clan mechs and tech will not be like they should be.)

What happened to the passion PGI had for this franchise!? I saw it in closed Beta. Where is it now? Why did they sacrifice their design pillars? I was stoked about this game, now I can't bring myself to play it anymore.

Thank you for the realistic information and time schedule. Looking forward to the new features when they are ready for prime time. Glad to hear that the Clans won't be ridiculous! They were always totally broken, I'll be interested to see how the team decides to give Clantech its own flavor while leaving IS tech competitive.

Keep it up!

they have said a lot of things over time and have not delivered :(

also not having game breaking bugs will still cause a lot of rage from people as the game have been in launch state for some time and people expect things to work...

He said "video format," not "major motion picture." Implicit in an invitation to share one's thoughts is the requirement that you be thinking.

Thank you for bringing up the limitations of the video format. I will poke the uppers to see if we can have the AtD transcribed. Heck- I'll do it myself if I have to.

So instead of just writing stuff and posting it on the internet, now you have to write text, make a video of someone saying the text, then edit the video in postproduction, then post the video to the internet.

How is this supposed to save time? Do you see the fail in this logic?

I have the sad vision that UI 2.0 in some form of its current incarnation will be forced upon us... bad mechlab and all.

Nothing says "bad idea" like the current state of the UI 2.0 mechlab... despite the obvious issue that it is incomplete, it is woefully backwards in "proper mechlab/UI designs".

I can already see people ragequitting over it.

As I have stated in a few posts the the Moderators have put into K-Town. UI2.0 is a bust, horrid thing that should not be released. START OVER!!

Now also as I have stated, PGI seems to be trying to kill MW on purpose. I told you so! I'm stumped, befuddled, and baffled at how poorly this entire project is being run. A paid "Professional" project is so mismanaged that it's resulting in this? Again pointing out that the Entire group that worked on Mechwarrior Living Legends was unpaid and worked hard to bust out everything they could, did a MUCH better job then PGI. How is that possible? It shouldn't be, but here we have it. We've paid money to PGI and they've done very little with it evidently. No money was paid to Wondering Samurai and they had a buggy yet fun mod. People who played MWLL would tell you that even with the bugs it was fun, and people were confident those bugs were going to get fixed some day. K-town me all you want, the truth is you people can't handle this and bit off more then you could chew. Then you forcibly removed MWLL from development. We thought it was funny you felt threatened by a bunch of drunken MW fans building a mod, guess it wasn't a joke, you were threatened!

I think MWO needs a reboot at this point. I'd rather wait another 5 years for a good product. I'll say it again, the only and I mean the only reason I'm still playing this is that my friends do and my brother does to. I so look forward to Star Citizen even with it's issues and future problems because Chris isn't PGI. Unless he dies SC will be gold compared to this.

Greetings all,

Reference the "changing the information release to video format".

I watched a different company (RSI, Star Citizen) move from a text based Q&A reply system to a video format. They have as few as 2 or 3 people working on the production, it covers everything that was originally a wall of text for the questions and answers area. Having the ability to use video will allow the Dev.'s to actually bring in the engineers and specific topic speakers to address the topics. Additionally it will allow for video images of whatever the speaker is discussing for better understanding info to the audience. They speak of a new map and show sneak peaks of that topic.

If the video format has a great host, much can be disseminated to the fans, players, public in a short time. And allow for different venues (youtube, twitter, others) to be publicized with that MWO themed video. I take as an example the two or more "podcasts" that were brought to us through the NGNG website, the information that was released in as short as 40mins of just talking was more than 2 or 3 of the Developers updates combined. This would bring in a "future proofing" aspect for MWO as it seems that many of the current publishers are moving to this type of format. Actually putting faces to the people working on this Game and making it a more personalized experience for the users and developers.

I look forward to a "new method of information" release as it can address many of the misinformation aspects that players and users have had in the past. Assumptions and guessing what was really meant should be reduced if not eliminated, and opens many avenues for new directions within the video format. We may even see the crew from NGNG become one of the video streamers, as they currently produce a weekly podcast with interviews of MWO related subjects. (and they have George Ledoux the voice of "Duncan Fisher" from MechWarrior.)

All for now,
9erRed

... PGI: "Hey, players, we've got some neat things on the horizon"

Most players: "Yay, that looks cool, but maybe we could use some clarification or change on [this subject?]"

The Professionally Dissatisfied: "WAAAAH, I hate you! I wanted something different! I wanted everything sooner! I hate your face! You should sell the rights to make this game to a REAL company! You're stupid, I hate your face! Insults! More Insults! INCOHERENT, WHINY RAAAAAAAAAGE!"

Question: Which one of these three parties is not a grown-up?

Well, when you've heard about those neat things just over the horizon over and over and over again for 18 months, it starts to ring a little hollow. Your hyperbole aside, people are justifiably astonished at the lack of progress. How many times do you have to be told that they've started hammering out the basics for CW before you stop believing it?

according to your logic..

Most Players: people who have joined in not so far time..have less idea about the promises the devs have made and have no clue about the actual stuff that was suppose to come..so yup they will be "Happy" with these kind of info and not to forget these are new "promises for them"

The Professionally Dissatisfied: People who know whats been going on for loooong time (all the way back to closed beta)...people who know that next few months is like another 6 months...people who know that CW which according to devs was in development for over a year now turns out to be only planned...so ya their rage is quite justified.......
