Need to let this thread die until we have some new info .... page 7 or 8 someone linked a deal from a Dev that basically makes this thread pointless without new info. Sounds like a lot has changed since the 3 roles and trees were announced ....

Make it 4! I searched the forums for details and it doesn't look like there are any updates on this since March regarding moving the Commander functions and renaming the role beyond this:

...After carefully reviewing our classes we've decidced to rename Commander and move command functions into a different aspect of the game. This will allow any role to be a leader, and make room for a support role....

I would probably go either scout or command, both have a strategic/tactical aspect to them that I could get into. Both roles also discourage an active combat role, so they would work well for people who aren't very skilled in that department.

By the info from the trees as they are listed in this thread, I believe i will start out ATT/DEF then go scout, If you cant see them, you cant hit them.

Yeah they did say that the command tree has been changed a bit.... but we don't have that info... Pretty much have to go on what we have. I just wanted to know what people are thinking using the information we have :)

scout... because I want that 2x zoom and I am simply a scout. Though after I'll go for att/def for the IR and magnovision.

It's cause of the Mechs i prefer to fight with. Normally it was the 55t Mechs and prior to it 45t Mech.
So the Size and speed at present, i think it will be that.
And the Founders Mech interesting part is the Catapult , for speed, jump and fighting style.

But it could be a subject to change, because of experience playing.

Atk/Def obviously.

Command later on.

Scout also sounds good.

I'm an attacker and defender through and through. I don't have the patience to command nor the discipline to scout.

The right side of the scout tree looks pretty useful for a missile boat, so that'll be what I go for at first.

Just to ask so I am clear on this.

If I pick Scout and I complete the Scout Tree can I then move onto the Attack/Defence Tree and complete that one so I gain them traits as well?

Its just when I start I was wanting to start as a scout and then later on move onto the mediums/heavies and then assaults.

So just having the Scout tree would hinder me with the Heavies and Assaults.

Also I know nobody will know this but I hope they are going to have the zooming ability to be more like MechWarrior 3 and not MW4 the smaller box IMO was a lot better than that bloody moohasive box that obscured your vision in MW4.

At the end of the day you will be able to complete all of the skill trees, so Iam going to start off with scout then go attack then the rest :)

Despite the fact that many -who do not understand how a proper battlefield unit should be constructed- say they will not follow someone who does not lead from the front, I selected Command; I am a Commander, and will be commanding. I intend to expand more into the Scout tree as well, so I will have an easier time gaining and relaying incoming information to my command.

Now to go back and spend some time reading what others have said. Or, at 10 pages already, perhaps not. Good day.
