People don't like the two game modes, they ignore the baess or get mad when you cap.
The problem is quite simply that players dont have much of a choice.
Some want to just play cap, others are happy to have objectives but want more meaningful objectives (which conquest is a step towards), while others just want to brawl and be engaged in fights.
Problem is, you mix those players together and of course you will get friction - assaultee's having a go at cappers for capping etc etc.
I for one dont mind the two game modes, think they could be considerably better. I would love to see a mode with no capping so you can have your mech battles, be it deathmatch, dropship or whatever without the capping - but also have the objective based games. Problem is when you mix what players want to achieve, then it gets messy.
Of course people will argue, if you want to cap why not play conquest? Well, if capping was not intended as a viable outcome for assault why is it there? But the devs need to realise that player will want to just have brawls so really the game needs a more diverse base of modes - which should be coming down the pipe. Looking forward to seeing dropship mode and if a solaris style mode comes in.
As for the game dying? I am seeing more and more names I do not recognise, many of which are quite frankly less than average players - which to me suggests that the game is still attracting new players while also retaining longstanding players. I do not think for a second that this game is being killed off; of course with that said, high hopes are being pinned on CW, which unfortunately is a while off..
