PGI just announced the release of what feels like an expansion pack.. before having even finished the original game?

That's a new low.

I want to add to this...

Won't the introduction of clan tech mean the introduction of a wide variety of new weapons...ssrm 6, uac20s to name a few. We have a problem with weapon balance now. What will this do...

S

Why, Dire Wolf Prime with pair of UAC/20 (in place of 2*uac/5) is going to be fun. Slightly modified Dire Wolf B with 4*UAC/5 and 2 CERPPC will be even better.
AND it'll be impossible to buy a Dire Wolf for c-bills for several months after clan pack mechs will be delivered to those who buy them for $$. This is so not pay to win.

Have spent more than I like to admit on this game. I'm hoping that this announcement means that they are about to hook us all up with something that breathes new life into the game. Then I'll grab myself a Timberwolf pack. And by new life, I mean CW. We need an objective. Otherwise, I'll patiently wait until the CBill variants release. I'm crossing my fingers though. There is just no way this response was not predicted. They have got to have something big on the horizon. They've just gotta..... :)

Meh... No Mad Dog... I´l pass on this for now.

Now for all the people feeling uppset about prices and packs. This is a free to play game.. I know some of you did not ask for that or even wanted it to be free to play but this is the way it is. Things that sell will be sold for a decent buck. The packs are still good money if you break them down in to their components (apart from the gold ones... But seriously... They are nothing special.. just have a special skin... And going by the golden boy it will not be all that special.)

This is one pack i personally feel i can pass over. I´l just wait for them to be released in their C-Bill/MC versions.

Unless i win big on the lottery.. Then i will most likley get the top teir pack just for the heck of it =P After all lottery winnings are to be spent on silly things.

TBH, Paul's still balancing this game. So, that will mean it would be wildly imbalanced from the start.

That's it, as predicted the final cashgrab is here. It was so obvious we would get Gold-Clans before Community Warfare.

Who supports this stuff at this point is beyond help. Will buy a MC-Clanner with my founders-money when they are released just for the lulz, but can't support this game at this point with my money.

First; i appreciate new content...its surely fun hunting all those Mechs over the same old maps again.

I broke at Phoenix + Reinforcement... but there, i stil hoped for UI2.0, Community Warfare (hey my Phoenix Mechs have still an UNUSED Loyality point bonus)... but i see myself playing less and less and all the 90 days Premium time of the Overload pack run wasted.. cause this game has not evolved much, rather than "buy more Mechs with RL money".

But it gets stale and boring to fight just, what is essentially a deathmatch, with low reward unless premium time is brought... and now, even before the Saber reinforcemet gets even delivered, even before the stuff mentioned in the original Kickstarter is delivered...the next pack even more outrageously priced comes out.. for what? For the same 12v12 on the same maps + Moonbase? Maybe we even have Base-defending turrets till then..

I WONT BUY a clan mech pack without seeing:

-UI 2.0

-Community Warfare detailed & wxplained

-How clan mechs / players get in the game and interact with it, cause i dont want to see them fight together with normal IS mechs.

-You get your prices moderated and allow us to pick the mechs (why take some i am not interested in just to get, say a Heavy?)

If i had 200+$ i would rather crowdfound another game or put more money to Star Citizen, but to drop more in a game that became stale and boring, and dangerously close to a cashgrab, without delivering promises made.

Thanks
A slightly bewildered customer.

I should feel happy and excited, but I just feel sad for PGI and the state of the game. They are clearly under pressure of some sort(probably from IGP) and this is clearly how you NOT announce the clan invasion.

No hype, no build up to the announcement . . . just one day a simple page reminiscing old Geocities HTML websites show up on MWOMercs. Really? No details about the mechs, no details about the mechanics, a lot of undelivered features, broken features and mechanics . . . yet they have the courage to ask outrageous prices for these mechs.

I will not buy any more MC from now on until PGI delivers the core features of this game. I will reevaluate the value of these packs at the last possible moment one more time, and see if my criterias are met. Frankly, even if the deliver a decent UI 2.0 and CW; these packs don't offer enough value(Premium time, extra items) to justify that much money.

You've just gone full ****** IGP/PGI.

Maybe the $500.00 package includes PGI stock?

/soapbox on

The only way I'd buy PGI stock right now is so I could "Sell Short" and cover when the company goes bankrupt. REALLY PGI? Last I checked, none of the things you have promised us since Closed/Early Open Beta have Been released, yet you continue to try to pump what's left of the community for cash. Seems like we've been getting "All stick, no carrot" for too long. In the Real world, the Feds shut down businesses for committing fraud and creating "Ponzi Schemes"...Maybe they need to look at your business model, too...

Mind you... I want to love this game. It is after all, a BattleTech title. And as I look at my present Mech Bay and see the 68 Mech Bays and 64 'Mechs already in my hangar (Yes, that's right, 64 'Mechs), I believe that I've already wasted enough money on empty promises and "Bait & Switch" tactics. I've stopped purchasing MC's 6 months ago (Frankly, I don't see the point in giving the game that kind of support until you start delivering on what you've already promised us)...and as you can see from my forum badging, I also purchased the Overlord Phoenix package (sans Sabre reinforcement). But $500 for a SINGLE 'MECH???? Are you [REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED] Kidding me???? (Note to self...self-redacting is kind of fun! :))

The ONLY Game developer I would give that kind of money to is Chris Roberts and the team at Cloud Imperium Games to back "Star Citizen/Squadron 42". Why??? Simple...THEY ARE DELIVERING ON THEIR PROMISES (And THEN some)!!! There's a reason why they've been given to-date nearly $35 MILLION in crowd-funding, and it's not because of promises, it's because of deliverables.

When you FINISH delivering every fix you've promised, EVERY feature you've promised us, Then (and ONLY then) will you get another $0.01 from me...and when the rest of the community decides to "Vote with their wallet" like I am choosing to do, maybe then you guys at IGP/PGI will realize that in this world, you have to deliver a product before you receive payment.

/soapbox off

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Community Warfare match, already in progress...(psyche!!!)....

You won't feel cheated in June when they go on sale for $250 for each gold mech? Since PGI did not say, maybe it is only the price that is limited? lol

I've bought digital-download games at full price before, but I don't feel cheated when they end up on sale later on for well less than I originally paid. It's the nature of business. If PGI decides to offer gold mech skins down the line but calls them "flax" or some other color that's essentially gold, good for them. I'll still feel content with my purchase. :)

I wish they did, I really do. I wish they would say "Psyche!" and then dump Thunderbolt, moonbase map, encounter mode, UI2.0 and units into the next patch, but if the past 18 months performance in any indication of future performance, then no, they will not do these things. Despite the fact that we all want them.

so no they do not gotta do anything and they probably wont. This is the sad reality. Many of us are invested more than the money we paid, we are vested in the genre.

As a founder: the lack of new features, community warfare, destructible terrain etc coupled with your pricing model is extremely disappointing. I'm already regretting helping you found this game two years ago. No more. Maybe next MechWarrior game... for now I'm out.

Well, my English fails me a bit here...

You mean game balance is so crappy it doesn't matter Dire Wolf or no Dire Wolf anymore? Well... Yes, I think I can agree with that.

Or you mean he can overnerf clan mechs to the point of them being too sucky even compared to IS mechs we have now? He, without doubt, can. He can do literally anything except proper weapon balancing, it seems.

Here's hoping Tuesday's patch has more to it than just Sabre reinforcments and Moon Base.

........Like U.I. 2.0 & Private Matchmaker.
That's really all I need for this game to be revitalized for me.

If PGI does that, and throws down a post explaining how clan tech is gonna work, be balanced and what the unique modules do, I'll be a happy camper.

One can dream.....

I've been shot at for doing what I believe in, you'd be surprised. :)

I can appreciate different views, but ever since their initial press release they were bringing the MechWarrior title back from Microsoft, I had decided then, to show support, insane or not, until the end.

I just hope, the end won't be for a very long time.

I admire them for taking the reins of a franchise that was run into the ground over lawsuits and idle corporate roosting.

To boldly claim to do what they want (yes, targeted deadlines have been missed a lot, I blame lack of man power) and begin working on it and giving it to the public to either embrace or spit out.

They keep working. They could have folded a year ago after several failed deadlines. But they refuse to give up.

I do not feel that they are just trying to get money before they fold. I've seen less of them playing the game, which to me, means they are doing more work and less socialization.

If you look at the launch party footage, and how Mr. Ekman talks about the planned features (yes, they plan it, it may not make it-speculation-debatable) with such passion, how can anyone just stop support, I know what he wants, I know the team (PGI) knows what they want.

Maybe I just need to take my medication and fall asleep, or just, hope people stop giving up on them.

Think I'm talking in circles at this point.
They didn't fold/refuse to give up because they were still making money producing mechs...notice they can keep churning out mechs no bother at all.

I'm sorry I see how passionate you are and I love the fact you'll support it till the end, I felt that way for a long time like nearly every person in here who's now saying. NO

WE ALL LOVE THE GAME, WE ALL WANT IT TO SUCCEED probably as much as you do. HOWEVER you can only slap someone so many times before he get's up and either knocks you the xxxx out or walks away.

I've been slapped in the face too many times.

HERES THE IMPORTANT BIT...
I could turn the PR for this game round in a couple of months. It would be easy as hell because the people here want it to work...PGI here's how to do it and it's free advice.

1. Admit you made a cluster **** of the last year.
2. Layout a plan of action to the community. BE HONEST ABOUT TIME LINES
3. HIT THE TARGETS
4. As an apology for 1. give the community freebies. Everyone that's sponsored in the past get's something and something significant, not a damn medal. Give them some free mech bays, a unique skinned Mech for the founders and a Unique skinned mech for the Phoenix package. NEVER SELL THOSE SKINS and GIVE THEM A MECH OF THERE CHOICE FOR FREE...NOT HERO.
5. Give everyone 7 days Premium when you launch UI2
6. Give everyone 7 days premium when you launch CW
7. Hire someone to communicate on the forums.
8. Make the site the primary means of communication, stop posting on twitter or facebook before it appears on the forum. Post on the site/forum then filter that post to Twitter/facebook
9. Fix the forums, they are a disgrace to navigate and pretty much impossible to find things.
10. Do a big sale when CW launchs and I mean big like 50% off rather than 30% even 70% of the oldest Heros. People that wouldn't have bought might finally put the money out for them.
11. Retire hero mechs, this ones controversial but make mechs actually limited. Retire so they can't be bought, this will increase demand and make them collectors items. Sure you can bring them back again at some point but give it a long time between them.
12. Finally to encourage new players allow every new player to pick one mech when they start for free. I'd suggest a choice of Mediums or hell just give them a Centurion A or D that allows them to have all the different weapons and test the game.

I could go on and on but that's a start, I'm not saying it will be easy to turn the anger against you round but it can be done and the benefits of giving stuff away will actually help your bottom line in the future. You need to show the community your here to make a great game and not nickle and dime them ok so nickle and dimes a joke here as it's $10+ a hit but you get my meaning.
