Hahah, these prices make me laugh. At the people who actually will buy those golden ones. Don't worry, I'm sure almost every enemy will aim to kill you first. I know I will.

How many Clanners does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they bid down to a candle.

I sense a bid of one match, from a paper book, without the book.

Gold Mechs are shiny and are an extreme version of Reflective Armor, energy weapons are useless.

But, on topic....

I want the clan packs... but, I don't have the same amount of good faith I did when I purchased my founders pack. I played MW4 for over a decade.... The franchise earned my money. And I like what they did with the game. I don't regret my founders pack in the least...

I freely admit I don't know anything about programming, or any of what actually goes into the making of a video game... but, while there has DEFINITELY been improvement in the game since then, there has not been enough for me to justify sinking another $100 into it. I think the prices they charge for individual mechs is ludicrous for the most part...

They've got a few months yet though, if they put their nose to the grindstone, and I start seeing some significant progress, I wouldn't mind sinking the money in for even the Warhawk package... but there have to be alot of things sorted out before that's likely to happen.

Okay,

I saw the announcement and about passed out. I have been playing in the BattleTech Universe for over 20 years whether the board game or the PC and this announcement made my day.

I saw the prices and I wasn't shocked. I think the price is quite fair considering clan mechs are VERY expensive and stronger. Ever since I joined in Beta everyone was asking "when we getting the clans"..post after post. So when I saw the announcement I was eager to see the community respond with enthusiasm. Was greatly disappointed in such negative response. WTF!

Soo many people complained about "too costly" ..blah blah blah. ITS FREE TO PLAY ding dongs. MWO is a high quality game, they have to pay their bills to keep it going. ITS THE TREND of MMOs. The money in the PC world for games isn't there anymore, so companies have to be smaller and be creative on how to bring people in.. hence forth Free to play.

ALSO, put it into perspective. We have about 20+ weeks till release. I guarantee the doors on the sale WON"T close till after the 17th or shortly before.

SO, if you REALLY want it.. which I would say 90 percent do even though they are being children, set aside 5 to 10 dollars a week and guess what..BAMM you got the 240 dollar KICK *** pack.

What does this mean.. humm one less visit to McDonalds a week, 2 less beers at a bar, 2 less packs of cigs a week, one to two less Starbucks visit a week.

When you think at this way, even the 240 is pretty cheep deal. And for those who are still complaining, ..lol. I bet you left your PC and went and blew between 20 and 60 dollars in two to 3 days on eating out/going to the bar..etc..

Your argument is invalid.

Anywho, CAN"T WAIT FOR CLANS!! I am watching my spending and living a healthier life by cutting back on the bad stuff, learning to cook and save money. The way I have it calculated, by the first of May I will have enough to by 3 or 4 240 dollar packs for me and my brothers..

I like how the Devs state that they will have to make adjustments with the clan tech and that it will have a unique 'flavor'. Umm yeah how about the flavor it has already in it being lighter, more efficient and takes less space than IS Tech. Dont they realize that the only reasons the Clans were beaten was because of the 'honorable' societal mindsets? A Star of Elementals acting as spotters and support for a Kit Fox with a Long Tom and an Ammo Carrier would be all you need. 'Target located and painted FoxTom, Fire for effect.'

I feel deeply betrayed by this MechWarrior Online sales push and seriously fear for what is about to happen.

Before this is dismissed as a rant, please know that I care about the game a lot and have spent over $1,500 on MechWarrior Online to date. Over half of which was buying Founders packages for my friends so we could play together during Beta. I bought a few $100 MC packages. When I saw both the Phoenix and Saber packages I pulled out my credit card before the screen even finished loading. So... like so many of you, after so long of yearning to pilot a Timberwolf in game, I open up the website and see The Clan Package. I should be elated! But every ounce of happiness that I should have had was replaced with anger and fear for the future of this game.

So, why am I so unbelievably angry!?
  • They posted this high priced sales push before they even delivered my Saber Reinforcement Package
  • UI 2.0 is not live... and no-one seems to like what they see on the testing server.
  • Community Warfare is not released yet (promised in the PC Gamer Magazine that I ran out and bought 5 copies of to give my friends codes -- CW is still in design phase!?)
  • They did not even bother to test & debug the Clan Package page. (The page looks broken and you cannot even see the mouse overs for the $500 Golden Mechs when you scroll down because the YouTube iFrame blocks the details.) Not to mention they did not give any specs on the mechs or the clan tech.
You know what is REALLY happening... right?
  • This is a money grab aimed at Whales to catch holiday sales -- which I can understand.
  • The details of the Clan product have not been released... which means they know that you are not going to like their answer to implementing clan tech in the game.
  • The extremely high prices indicate that the business people believe that a very small number of whales (high paying players) are worth more than the entire rest of the remaining player base. This is dangerous for two reasons-- but you probably already know that.
  • If the big sales push for Clans is now, what will they have to sell in the future?
(Answer: After Clan Launch they will create BETTER mechs for MC. These mechs will be obsolete compared to the Hero MadCat/Timberwolf for example. Community Warfare will be full of features that heaviliy require MC -- and when the business people realize people will pay for those, they will continue focusing on tons of them.)
But... they have a plan!
  • Yes. The plan looks great right now.
  • But when the sales suddenly fall off after the Holidays in Jan/Feb.... we will see another sudden push for "emergency sales."
  • They will price them low, because everyone will still be mad about this high priced sales push. (It will likely be ineffective due to the dwindling player base and people waiting on their Clan Mechs.)
  • Then we will all wait and see if UI2.0 & CW are a hit.... which, given the track record so far, I am not hopeful.
  • The Clan Packages will still be up and available for you to buy at any time!
(Because they would lose potential sales if they took them down until the package goes live. And then... they will probably still leave the package up for a while just like they did with Founders and Phoenix Package. So why would we ever buy right now?)

What am *I* going to do? (this time.)
I am not going to buy it yet! I learned my lesson. No purchase until the content exists. And why should we? There is no pressure to do it now.

That being said, if even a early version of CW & UI2.0 live up to the hype, I will buy the biggest clan package and a Golden Timberwolf. The clan package and the Golden Timberwolf will still be there -- a real "Limited Quantity Item" has a number next to it. They are not posting a number because they want to see how many people are buying them before the post the number. If my hesitation causes me not to get one -- I think I will live. Mostly because 1.) It will be no different than the normal one. 2.) You know EVERYONE is going to go for and gun down every one of those gold mechs first. Then make fun of you when they do it.

That is of course... unless the package is delivered before CW & UI2.0 are live... because of some sort of massive delay. Which, of course means the game is already dead and I wisely saved money to use on a more player focused game.

Thank you for reading this all the way through. I very seldom post anything negative... and I really do care about the MWO. But wow, this Clan Package really made my blood boil.

Sincerely,
Artix

The pricing for these is absolutely ridiculous... I think PGI either need to
a) rethink their pricing or
:) let mechwarriors pick and choose what they want to buy at the current price

And don't get me started on the Gold mechs...

$210 USA dollars for my favorite plus many other classics? i should be spending that on something else, seriously i have so many old broken things to repair (and sell but i do not know how, i also lack the technology required to buy things online, like MC or special game packages). Maybe much later they will offer just one of them at a smaller price like they did with other designs?

Unfortunately I was planning on fighting for Clan Wolf but I am not sure if I will be able to buy my favorite mech. $210 for the only mech that I really care about is too much. Thanks to some unforeseeable RL issues I have not had a job for the year and I am not sure if I can get one and that kind of money before they are released. So PGI your greed may have cost you the $80 that the Timber Wolf should have cost.

Akin to the Phoenix package, the 210 is for the Timberwolf and everything below it.

That said, please check out my feedback to the clan package. It gives my realistic estimates of sizes based on the concept art in addition to a request to split the clan package into two separate package groups to help players reach the mechs they want.

i'll wait for the info before laying any money. PGI have got ALOT of damn EXPLAINING to do about what clan functionality is. phoenix was easy we all know how customisation equipment and rewards work for IS, claners we know even less about than the 2 year ghost that is CW. can't put money on that.

and no gold ammo just gold mechs for actual gold... ******* HILLARIOUS!

Dear PGI, I don't have lots of money, even though I have spent about $300 on this god forsaken half finished game. If I wanted to scrounge up enough money to buy clan mechs I could. But I wont. I wont spend another dime on this game because I am done being exploited for being a Battletech fanboy. You are making Star Citizen look REALLY reasonable right now, and their dog fighting module comes out next month. Imagine if their dogfighting module is as functional as your launch release?

I just hope you did a real bit of economics to come up with this ridiculous structure. Hint hint, price elasticity of demand analysis tend to show that you how lower revenue at extremely high prices, especially for ******* digital goods that have no unit price and are marketed towards consumers instead of businesses.

Everyone crying about the timberwolf's price should either just buy it and hush up or wait patiently for it to be released for CBills (mind you I won't buy any packs until more information is released)
