Great! Now that you're accepted what your problem is, you can start working on not trying to ruin games by being a disgruntled little troll.
As evidenced from 15 pages of supportive comments (and just a couple of naysayers such as yourself), it clearly wouldn't have been pointless. Since I now have data to support my position and you have none...
The event would cater to all MWO players who would have been proud of their chance to participate in it. No one would have been alienated. If you wish to make such claims, back them up with some sort of argument. Otherwise they are as worthless as all of your other off-topic trolling in this thread.
You want proof? Here you go. People are complaining about the last event, for exactly the reasons I described. There is a non zero chance people would complain about your event as designed. There it is, proof. People will complain about anything - the bigger and more important event, the more people will complain about it. Now, can you prove that a clan launch event like this would increases sales? Because if you can't, then your idea is as worthless as all of your other off-topic trolling in this thread.

Pure madness. Completely impractical.
NEED to roll out clan pre-sales prior to Christmas.
Christmas is the most busy sales time of the year for any business. If there are cash flow issues, perhaps arising from some sort of boycot movement that may or may not be led by goons, then perhaps this was a move to ensure there is enough resources to continue development on this product?
That is after all why Hi-Rez studios decided to stop development on Global Agenda.
