...or the tattoos. Those, I never understood. If they were enhanced imaging implants, they should not have existed at the start of the invasion as anything more than experimental tech anyways. So many questions. Makes my brain hurt. >_<

I first thought they were enchanced imaging implants indeed but now i think they could be tattoos as well.. If a Nova Cat cannot see the truth in this, who can in Clan space or elsewhere?

I mean, they glowed when they started screaming INITIATE ENHANCED IMAGING, so I assume they are IE implants (also explains his insanity), but the tech was barely worked on until protomechs.... And those things were not exactly mainstream, either.

I think I remember reading about them in the first Twilight of the Clans book Exodus Road though I am not 100% sure that was where I saw them.
