but unfortunately, this is the issue, there is no sound transferring medium in space so you won't hear all the peew peew and booms of something hitting not you. all you would porbably hear is your guns and stuff that impacts on your ship. The rest is just earcandy for gamers.

and this actually makes space scary because everyone is like a ninja when your sensors would fail.

no sound exist in space, but for sake of entertainment humanity brake a few rules :D

In the meantime, we are playing every new aspect of the game, as soon as it is developed and released, with few to no bugs (every new bug is fixed in a time of hours usually). Oh, and we know exactly how every new thing is going to work. While SC is still a unfinished beta with locked features. And a lot of advertising...

Oh, and did i say that ED roks a solid 40fps with everything on ultra on a crappy i3 with an even more crappy r7 250
? And looking absolutely amazing?
Meanwhile the last time i tried SC on my PC, i was lucky to get 30 FPS max with everything on low. Optimization, what a beautifull thing.

Meh, boredom is not a unit o measure. I find MOBAs utterly boring, that doesn't mean they ARE boring. I mean, MOBAs are the most played kind of games!
Actually, i think the relatively slow pace of Elite is one of it's most appealing features. When i'm around in elite, i like to look around, admiring stars and planets.

Yes, there is room for improvement, but that improvement is right around the corner. In march we're going to see a big addition, the wings, and this week we had the eddition of community goals, something really nice, and a jumping spaceport. A JUMPING SPACEPORT!! have you any idea of how cool is a jumping spaceport?

and that is how space is, supersized and therefore a lot less stressy, everythign there is slower by the pure fact of size.

because action movie spoilt kids.

Its greta to have a spacegame being like a space game, where everything is huge on scale. space is not a big stressy thing because of the scale, and so everything is a lot slower and relaxed (ok, your ship is serveral 1000km/s fast, yet its still "slow" in scale of space xD) . At least until a true war would come up and some dense combat takes place.

Does anyone here play Elite:dangerous? And is it worth picking up?
It sounds intriguing, as I love EVE Online. My main question would be, is it on the same scale as EVE, or would I just be wasting my time playing both games. Is it a no non sense sort of game, made for adults, non hand holding game in the way EVE is? I've read that it is, but I would like some feedback. Oh, also, is it a one time purchase? Or do I have to subscribe month to month?

Sidenote, since I just read it in the post above mine, Star citizen looks pretty corny, like a bad over the top hollywood movie. And right now it's nothing more than tdm in spaceships, kind of like this game isn't anything more than tdm in robots.

EDIT
Nevermind, upon further research I have learned that Elite:dangerous is a joke game. P2P client to client, not server based, a hackers wet dream. And instanced gameplay that only allows 32 players at a time, whats the point of that vast galaxy if there is only ever 32 people in it? If I want my space fix I will just resub to Eve Online, a proper pc game.

It is worth every bit you pay for it.

In a galaxy full of billions of starsystems... do you REALLY need more than 32 players in your instance at a time? The way instancing works is if you are in a starsystem, 32 players can be in it together. If you then scale down smaller to planetary rings, up to 32 players can be in that instance. If you scale down to say a battle... up to 32 players can be in that battle with you.

In actuality, thousands upon thousands are playing, they're just spread out. So, for bandwidth's sake, it is a salvation it is structured like this. You're the only one missing out. Elite is the most fun I've had online in years.

Have you ever played EVE before? where there can be thousands of people in the same system, and space is player owned. Creating fierce battles and politics. If you had, you would understand why 32 player instances are unacceptable, specially for a pc game in 2015. It's not 1999 anymore.  There's nearly 200 people fighting in this video I recorded, and that was an every day occurance. And not the biggest battle I played in either. I've played in 500 player battles.

Yeah, and EVE has over a decade of development, with millions of subscribers paying monthly. I heard CCP is the largest company in Iceland. Elite was released last year, made by a small studio with less money EVE makes a year. There's no comparison here.

Jesus Christ some people on the internet. If you feel so f***ing entitled for playing a videogame, go back to your EVE. Frontier Development is a small studio but I'm sure they wouldn't miss your $60 f***ing dollars.

Oh and you don't get to fly your ship in EVE. Setting trajectory and clicking a few buttons isn't "flying".

EvE use a special software technology to allow it, most MMO's can't handle +150.
also i not see much use for a +500 battle in a video game, player skills gets total neglect by random numbers.
consider that MWO gets like 50 VS 50=no skills pure luck based then 12 vs 12 is already on the high side.

Have you ever played a air or space dog fight game ?
32 players are even 2015 more than enough. World of Warplanes has 30 players per instance, War Thunder 32.

Elite Dangerous is at the core a space dog fight game (piloting the ship), the space fights of EVE are completely different (commanding the ship).
That's the gameplay of E:D
http://youtu.be/S9WOm9COijg

It's o.k. if you don't like it, many gamers nowadays aren't able to handle real time twitch based combat in a three dimensional enviroment. Even some hardcore flight sim players have trouble to enjoy a game without a ground - a friend of mine who is very into flight sims tried some space sims and get always a kind of sea sickness from it.

EVE? Can you walk around stations yet?

small instances are enough, if they aren't sufficient for you, stay in EVE.

Elite: Dangerous is coming to the Xbox One.

https://forums.front...ad.php?t=121383

SC has specifically stated that they will never go to the console. This will lead to some interesting conversations...
