Elite: Dangerous is coming to the Xbox One.

SC has specifically stated that they will never go to the console. This will lead to some interesting conversations...

There's only one concern here, that is whether ED is letting a separate team to take care of the porting or picking existing staff to do so, and whether it would hamper the game's development. I'm honestly not worried, since the core game is pretty much settled and you gotta let them programmers have something to do, right? Besides, it's not like E:D is a super complicated game.

That and some butt-clenching PC-masterracists whinings.

Trying to decide: Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen?

Or maybe I should wait for World of Warships.

I agree. SC will come out eventually, but E:D is fun right now.

I'm not worried too.
Frontiers second team is working on the MAC version of the Elite Dangerous. The X-Box version will be probably their next assignment.
Making a port for MAC or X-Box is only coding, but most of the mentioned expansions for ED (like walking in ships and stations or planetary landings) require mainly new content like models, textures and sound.

Porting the game to the X-Box is a clever decision from Frontier, but no surprising one. Before E:D they made some good games for consoles, using the same Engine.

Good to know they have the experience! I would imagine Microsoft would support FD too because they need something to compete with No Man's Sky for the time being. (Braben today said PS4 version is down the line but still, with all the fuzz Star Citizen is stirring, X1 users would probably wanna have a taste of space ASAP too, and No Man's Sky is no where near complete.)

I am quite aware of Dreadnaught but it looks like it maybe sometime before it gets a beta.

Arpeggio and Kancolle kind of wets my appetite for some naval action and I don't think it would be far when World of Warships hits open beta. The prospect of having the Yamato take on the Bismark... hmmm.

It would be a interesting fight for sure, but I have a hard time imagining the Bismarck-class being able to defeat the Yamato-class in a 1 v 1 matchup. The Yamato had the advantage of range, firepower, and armor. In terms of battleships the Yamato should have been in a class of her own.

Elite Dangerous on XBox One is said to be a temporal exclusivity. After a certain time passes, ED will get versions for both PS4 and the Mac.

ED on XBox Live is not likely to play with PC players thanks to XBox Live policies. However, those on the PS4 and the Mac can play on the same servers as PC players.

Considering ED, Star Citizen, Heavy Gear, Dreadnaught and various games. Deathly bored with MWO and looking to gradually phase out from this game to another game. I am also getting a bit tired of War Thunder; Air Forces still a brilliant game but its Ground Forces is totally messed up.

I doubt that Frontier has enough manpower to do three conversions of the game at the same time. ;)
Even with enough manpower it would be more sensible to work only on one and finish it asap.

E:D is a controller friendly game, so the X-Box Players shouldn't be in a disadvantage against PC players with mouse and keyboard.
IMHO all players will use the same galaxy server, the interesting thing will be the hosting of PvP or PvE COOP.

Xbox players will simply not play with PC players. It is a Microsoft policy that everything on the Xbox network are hosted through XBox servers. No buts.

Playstation has a different policy, which is why they let PC and PS players play on the same servers.

An exampkle of this was Phantasy Star Universe. PC and Playstation players are on the same servers. But XBox players are isolated on their own servers.

It is simply a fact that this is how its going to be unless Microsoft changes its policies.

Just to add, due to the user terms, accounts made on the XBox network will not be transferrable to the PC side. Again, policies. Accounts made on the Playstation network can be played on the PC side, but PC made accounts are not transferrable to the PS. Again policies (examples War Thunder and Final Fantasy 14 ARR).

E:D has two kind of servers. The galaxy server hosts the background simulation, and as I understand the press release X-Box and PC and Mac players will use the same galaxy server.
The second servers are the server for the PvP and PvE instances. AFIAK on PC those server are hosted by one of the clients.
Are those X-Box Servers dedicated ? In that case players on the X-Box may have less lag during PvP or Coop.

I'm also wonder if the X-Box version will make use of Kinetic. I try out head tracking with face track no ir, and it is amazing. A little rough, but real amazing.
Headtracking with kinetic would be awesome.

Got bored of hauling cargo so I decided to whip up a Hauler jumper to wander across galaxy. Current goal is to reach VY Canis Majoris aka the largest star known to men, but I'll probably have to turn around as soon as my windshield starts cracking. If it's still intact by the time I reach there, I'll figure where to go next then. In the meantime, here're some pretty pictures (I think):

You know, nothing much, just fueling my ship near the largest star known to men :D :

Another perspective:

Then I went to Thor's Helmet:

And inside Thor's Helmet I found a brown dwarf with a massive ring:

Now I'm just approaching Seagull Nebula:

Gonna explore Seagull Nebula next. In fact I have planned out an entire nebulae run which would take about a month to complete (or until my windscreen starts cracking. Dying alone in space is not my thing, even less so when I don't get to earn dem space cash). I'm thinking about maybe making a whole post on the official forum when I'm done.

In the meantime, here's another pretty picture:

How many credits do you expect to make from a 1 month run? Also are you scanning everything in each system or just cherry picking the best looking prospects for detailed scans?

Asking because I've got a bit of a nest egg built up from bounty hunting and I am thinking of kitting out an Asp for a couple week exploration run. I know some guys are making big bucks, but I would hate to go on a 2 week run and not make at least 10mil.
