First off, so? Half the people that started playing this game years ago have stopped playing. That doesn't sound all that unusual. Granted, I imagine it would be less if the original deadlines had been met, but i would also expect many to come back once CW kicks off.

Hardly evidence this game is doomed.

Modders aren't paid usd5M to produce a game... They sell shirts and coffee mugs  if any at all financial support is requested.

When you "launch" and the beta tag comes off certain core mechanics that you advertised and marketed kinda gets demandable by the paying population... They are just self-entitled.... Don't listen to them...

When you miss a single deadline - it is generally cool in the real world...

Again when you tell your boss it will be done in 90 days and months and months after 90 days it isn't done yet... I'm very sure he will undestand... I mean how dare he complain right?

And by the way, in the real world.. We should heckle irate paying customers or potential paying customers when they complain... valid or not...

Of course if any paying customer e-mails support@mwomercs.com telling them that they will stop purchasing MC because of X reason..

Support should promptly reply -

1.) gg close
2.) can I haz your stuff

Not even the same thing. They didn't lose all of them in one day over a single stupid mistake. Some left because legitimate issues, others because they have been playing for years and want something new.

Who said they shouldn't listen to them? Again this is a BS argument. Making up **** to argue. There's a phrase for that.

Also, they have posted on why this didn't happen etc. The majority of the problem is the whiners are either too ignorant or stupid (those are two different things and only the second is an insult the way I use it, ie willful ignorance) to understand the reasons given.

Again, this isn't a job where you are paid to work. But let's follow your example. So fire them. What's the problem? You don't like what Russ and co. is doing, stop giving them money.

But making silly slogans and protesting things that are a done deal (like clans vs CW), yea that's helpful.

What exactly is wrong with that reply? Are you so delusional that you expected them to change the game because you used the support tool to complain about a decision they made? It wasn't a bug, it was a decision.

So you complained to the wrong people, in the wrong format, and are upset they didn't change the game just because you whined?

I'm frankly surprised you even have a job. Unless of course it's a govt. job in which case I am starting to wonder if I work for you. Would explain a lot actually.....

Farewell, nobody will miss you, nobody will care, nobody will remember you. You are just another generic type of person who plays games because he/she has nothing else to do, who expects everything to be layed down in front of you. You can't handle the game as is. You can't handle the learning curve. Want to click and pew pew? Want big shining letters petting you for everything you do?. Not here, sorry. Goodbye, and next time you wanna try a new game, makes sure it either fits your (non existant) style, or give it some actuall time. You know, learning, achieveing at a pathetic 10% of what it has to offer.

Like Destined pointed out before, send all complaints and feedback to support@mwomercs.com

I have a feeling, that if everyone who complained on the forums, where it can be aggregated and easily ignored, were to complain via E-mail, which the reps have to take THEIR TIME to pour through manually, things would actually get better. If their system is bottlenecked 24/7 by complaints, they'll opt to fix the problem rather than ignore it, so that they stop receiving so much e-mail and can reallocate that time spent doing something useful. It's called "pressure". One e-mail a week until they fix it aught to solve the problem.

What happens in the real world if you lose even just 20% of your market share? I'm very sure the board will be very forgiving right?

So founders that are legitimately concerned about the game are "whiny".

New players that bother to even log into the forums and post their experiences need to "toughen up".

Do you know that of the 9000 signups in december only 150 or so bother to make a few posts? I wonder why....

And you accuse me of lacking reading comprehension and of being delusional.

People get bored with games after time. Second, they lost a big chunk of Founders. How many new players did they get and retain during that same time?

I am honestly thinking you don't understand what you are saying.

Some of them are whiny. Some do yes. Most players never log into a forums. It's a well known fact, one of many of which I am sure you don't know or disregard as inconvenient.

The cake taker. You accuse me of lacking reading comprehension, then go off on a tangent. I said I was surprised. How ******* warped are you to mix that up?

Then I make a joke, and you completely miss that and try to use it to imply I ****** up guessing your job.

I was somewhat polite in this post in that I attempted to address your comments like you were a semi-rational person. I think I now have a read on you. You honestly think you are the intellectual superior here, and that your posts are decimating me and my position etc etc. Must be nice in your world, they know you and all.

Well I am off to the actual real world, so have fun.

Those games also provide singleplayer experience, ability to fight with/against a selected group of people and lessen the learning curve trough tutorial, as far as I remember (the last CoD MP I have played was MW1, so I might be wrong about the newer versions).

Plus those games have an huge cult following and have the means to get the sales. MWO does not have that and new player experience should be an essential part of the player retention (although that does not mean that steps should not be taken to retain your veteran players trough other means, of course).

Pointing out CoDs traits and successes as an argument that new player experience (or anything else, for that matter) is fine in MWO is just plain wrong.

See my problem is that there is no way to lessen the blow. Generally when getting into an online game people do a couple of things:
1- look up tutorials (there is only 1 but it's important)
2- Watch a gameplay video.

Other than that there really isn't much that can be done to lessen the blow of being a new player. There is absolutely no substitute for experience. Unless you want all new players to start with 10 million C-Bills (Oh wait, thanks to cadet bonus, they do) and a roster of mechs to choose from (they get 4 champion mechs, I never even that when I started)

It might be subtle, but the new player experience is being eased up A LOT.

People either have expectations too high of how good they are, or think everything is gonna be spoon-fed to them.

It doesn't matter what online game you play, there is no way in the nine circles of hell for someone to be as good after playing the game for 2 months, let alone 3 weeks, as those who have been playing for a year or more.

OP has one good point though, the community can be hostile, and while most of us can agree that you need tougher skin since it's the internet and people are rougher on each other here, that doesn't mean they should be.

Guys, We all read PGI's commitment thread. This takes time, the people complaining really have no idea about programming. They dont understand how a game works or the mechanics. Try your hand at modding, rigging, scripting, modeling, coding and all that. its unfortunate that this takes time isn't it. They were a group of individuals who wanted to revive mech warrior, just like the latter of us who grew up on battle tech.  Things things take months, hell  i know some modders who would blow up on their followers for being impatient. No one accounts for the hard work that goes into the game. they just think there are 2 steps 1. make the game, 2.people play the game. I have basic knowledge when it comes to scripting, awhile ago i dove into C++ but i decided that i wanted to do something different. they set deadlines, lets just hope they can stick with em. **** its only been what>? a year since this game was publicly released i maybe a few months and you are expecting the game to be 100%.
I've done coding. OOP and instancing should make it a snap for them, especially because the engine was already built for them. Please tell us how hard it is to code in Assault with the bases removed.

For the first 6 months or more I didnt know XL engines were in the game, Until someone said something ingame about dying because of it. Everytime I would try to equip an XL I always had to much equipment in my side torsos to fit the XL so it showed up red. Its little things like these that new players wont know and could potentially drive them from a great game. As far as I know there isnt an official mechbay tutorial showing how to outfit mechs.
Anyhow better luck next time you play it.

This is the result of a minimum viable tutorial....

RTS games introducea few units per mission

Racing games require you togo through certification run where a specific technique is required to finish within the time allotted

Mwo requires you to die often enough u until you finally get it.

Yeah, a team that removed the General Discussion forum because there were too many complaints is going to listen. They will just ignore them and won't even have to worry about there being articles on other sites about forum revolts. The only time PGI ever has gone back on a plan or made a major change is when the forums become a dumpster fire. So since that's the only pressure PGI responds to why shouldn't people try to inflame the forums, since PGI only reacts when the place is on fire.
You reap what you sow. Since PGI ignores player feedback until it reaches a flame fest they have only themselves to blame. People tried all kinds of reasonable and constructive feedback and PGI's response was, oh we'll pass it along and nothing happened. Then the forums explode over a few issues (consumables, 3PV, OB start date, Clan packs, etc) and suddenly PGI offers a lame semi apology and things change somewhat. Why are they surprised when that's the type of posting they get.

Thanks to everyone that has helped me with this game so far, but i shall be uninstalling it at some point today.

As the game is at the moment it is certainly no fun for a new player, to have to constantly die to learn anything is just pointless and it defies all reasoning behind playing a game to have fun and enjoy ones self.

Regardless of whats coming and bugs and other game issues, for a new players experience it is just awfull, as a whole this game feels as though it should still be in beta testing and not classed as a viable product to be sold. I have given suggestions only to be trolled and de-railed.

I will install the game next year perhaps if it is still up and running, but i think i can find better use for the space it's taking up on my hard drive.

Thanks again for the lesson in how not to make a new player feel welcome into a game.

Viper mwo community: Simple. First you've acquired enough points to show up tomorrow post on forums and graduate with your Top Gun baddie class, or you can quit. There'd be no disgrace.
