Looking at the PTS quirks, I'm thinking of moving my LPLocust build to the -1M (from the -3V) to take advantage of the better now-generic cooldown if these quirks go live. I've been running ML+SRM on the -1M so far.

Trouble is, the MPL+MG build on the -3V is underwhelming to me, and I've go no earthly idea what else to run on it. :/

3V I think is built for LPL or LL. It really doesn't have enough burst to go for knife-fight ranges, and MGs are extremely terrible at the moment.

Actually, I now have a challenge for you all. Has anyone here managed to pull off a Locust Deathstar? Closest I've gotten is 10 kills on a match ages ago. Darned thing can never get that first two kills because it doesn't have enough long-range alpha for the initial contact engagement...

My highest kill count is probably still the 1V when it first came out. 6 kills with 1 ML, and 4MGs.

(Posting mobile, and wall 'o geek, plesase excuse)

I have a thread over here that details Mastery Bundles: http://mwomercs.com/...eviews-welcome/

One of the spoiler tabs includes what some chassis still need in order to have all the pieces. Locusts, as the denizens of this thread are well aware, lack a designated Champion variant and build.

Once PGI makes anoints the Chosen One as Champion of the Swarm, the Underrated Mastery Bundle™ can be offered. You know where I'm going next ...

What do we think would make the best Locust Champion, and which one becomes the 3rd Wheel for the pack? Remember that the "3rd Wheel" is the most popular remaining variant after the Hero and Champ, so if something other than the 1E is chosen as Champ, the 1E would probably be popular enough to make it in the pack anyway.

Imma say the 1E's 6SPL Redwub Murder build, "Redrum" is a leading contender for Champion of the Swarm, along with the 5ML "Workhorse."

The 1V ERLL troll makes sense as the 3rd Wheel, IMO. Based on the PTS quirks under review, I think the 1M might become a darkhorse candidate if they wait long enough and it finds a special troll build to call its own (LPLocust, for example).

Thoughts, concerns, charges of treason against your favorite variant or build?

Tried out the 1V on PTS with LPL. WOOOW! LPL fires none stop, but eventually your heat catches up with you. Forces you to disengage to scamper off and cool off. 190 engine 10 DHS. Had module cooldown.

The 1E with 6 SPL I think is still the king of the pack. It's like running an AC24 on a light. 5ML runs waaaay too hot. 1V and 3V ERLL/LPL may be third-wheel, but they're solid. The SRM lolcust though... :/ The only thing that could salvage that is if they somehow introduced extra-damage quirks for SRM on it.

Now, if they'll -ever- introduce the clan-tech Locust IIC:

- XXL 350 engine, for going at 232kph
- 8x C-ERSL + 1 C-MPL loadout, for powerful burst
- Nowhere near enough heatsinks, making this build run hotter than the sun.

Has noone run the LPL with the 1M's energy quirks yet?

I mean, I know the 1V has it's niche as the sniper of the family, but look at that energy range and cooldown. Beam duration in wubs is less important than ERLLs, and 1V's cooldown and duration are a perfect fit fornthe ERLL.

Guess I'll have to try it before/after my live server Dragon hitbox tests :s

Re: Locust Champion. If I was tailor making it for me, I would go PB, 1E-champion, 3V-third wheel. Those are my 3 favorites. I am not sure how I will like the 3v with no mg quirks, but it is mostly the tankiness I like about it.

Thanks! I was worried the legs would change. At least its not a large increase.

Looks like the st are a little more vulnerable now, which means I will actually have to practice a little twist and shout while I scream across the field. Just more multitasking for us!

I wonder how much difference I'm going to notice from this. I'm not sure how much fire I was taking ner the leg joint where the ST now reaches.

Hmmm ...

Edit: Thanks for posting this!

That new hitbox is...a curse and a blessing at the same time.

It's a blessing in that lasers will be much easier to torsotwist now. It's also a curse since now those pesky AC20s have a much better chance of hitting your less armored ST.

I guess only time will tell if it's actually better.

It is actually the slight increase to leg area I am worried about, the little laser burn damage that would hit the ST now my hit the leg,and we don't need more leg damage.

Srms are going to hurt more to, but if you get hit by SRMs maybe you should try a firestarter :)

I hope you got his legs from underneath the ramps. I LOVE HPG for those ramps. Best map by far!

Okay, yeah the ramps are good, no question.

The real advantage of HPG (in my middling-skilled opinion) is the little undulations and the vertical features of varying size that are found within the HPG complex, even in the most open areas.

There's just enough roll to the terrain outside to help too. Those little (sometimes big) ups and downs all over the map make the difference between a clanner's low-mounted energy hitting and missing, or the terrain blocking a volley of streaks.

Topography ftw!

Just got a 1e yesterday, and now that I am broke, trying to work it up to a simple build. even though its not running that good of a engine yet its very quick, able to climb nearly any wall with out needing a jump jet. also, don't really need much critical space for it because everything is so tiny. that being said, its the first mech where I had to reduce my sensitivity a lot. I was going to run the 6 mediums. but I wonder if there is anything else that could work, maybe one medium and one er large might work instead. still along way from finishing the build either way. also, it has nearly the best cockpit in the game.

6 SPL is my preferred.

XL190, 6SPL, Locust standardised armour.
Effectively a rapid fire, infinite ammo AC20.

I did a thing of Locust builds and crafting theory somewhere....
I'll see if I can find it.
Need to start doing more than lurk here again anyway. :P
