Aye, it's good for paint.

I believe Serif still have their Free versions of the software (which are simply 6-8 versions old of the current programs) - if you grab the Drawplus one, you can do stop and key frame animation in it. Posted Image

I've used the Serif Suite for over a decade, and update regularly (on Drawplus X8 atm).
It'll allow you to do drawing, import Paint pixel art as object, and animate with only a little effort.

For 'realistic' movement of things, look to nature - the Ostrich is a good base for Chicken Walkers in my opinion:

In fact, slowed like this, I think it probably matches the gait and speed a mech like the Locust would have.

- I look forward to what comes next. Posted Image

What some may not realize, though, is that the Ostrich actually has normal knees hidden in those feathers up top. The reverse joint is actually its heel.

A question about the Locus nerf last month from a casual Locust pilot.
So I jest now had a closer look at the changes, and while I still support the nerf and the balancing adjustment in comparison to the other lights, I have problems understanding the motivation of two of them:

1) The 1E was considered the better 3M, this is true, but that much better, that it almost entirely lost it’s most powerful quirk? And then, why is it still not dead and people are posting 1E builds instead of just changing to the 3M? I must miss something, but what?

2) The 1M. I never understood this variant. Others can either missiles or lasers better, and a Locust has not enough weight to mix for different situations. Still it was considered powerful enough to get nerfed (more than other variants). Why?

That is what the magic 8 ball said to do.

The 6spl 1e was a good load out before quirks existed and it is still a good load out so people keep using. It is probably the strongest locust of the bunch. The 3m is still pretty good, but that 1 extra laser makes a big difference.

The LCT-1M is also pretty strong sporting an XL180, SRM2, SRM4, 2xML/SPL, and 200 rounds of ammo. They should have left it's beam duration quirk intact, though, because now I think the MedLas burn too long and going SPL ruins the one thing it had that the 3S did not: flexibility.

There, I hope you're happy... I'm still not 100% but it is much better than it was. The text needs a solid 2 more shades of grey, so does the fade in and out, but yeah, much better.

I miss Wash...

Got a some kind of praise yesterday. Pug-teammate said I'm playing an annoying little locust and he's just glad to fight on my side this time ;)

Confirmed. You're quite the annoying pest to face on the field.

I take it as a compliment when I'm Spider-ing, Locusting, etc.

I once fed you my cored TDR just to keep you busy and shave some of your armor so my teammates could trundle over to get you ;)

Thanks (and as for feeding me your TDR: I've got to work on this. Quite to often I die, because I get tempted by an seemingly "easy" target, forgetting the world around me.)

I do this too. I get greedy for the kill in front of me, trying to bag one more before bugging out.

It's potentially okay if I'm getting a spite kill against overwhelming numbers. Often though, I can make more of the situation if I reposition instead.

If I can't get it right away, I need to go. Is this what I actually do?

Nope. At least not frequently enough. ;)

My rule of thumb is: Whenever I destroy a component, I've been to long in one place and it's time to hit the road.

If I keep up with this I've got the sentiment that I live longer on average and thus can help the the team longer/more effectively.

Haven't really read much of this chain, but I have to say. Locust power is vastly underestimated. I'm running a Pirate's Bane version with four medium lasers, and in HPG at least the issue that some pilots don't get is that I can run under the scaffolding and then come back to nip at their heels.

On top of that, Locusts as harassers are the top. I've run a Commando before, but nothing beats a Locust with ECM just generally getting people to fire at each other and keep the enemy Lights going "WHERE DID THEY COME FROM AND WHY ARE THEY NOT LETTING ME BE?!"

So, yes. Much Locust love.

The Pirates Bane is my favourite as well. It worked for me "out of the box" (which can't be said about all hero mechs), and with a few little tweaks it got even better. Sure the locusts with 5 or 6 small pulse lasers have a higher damage potential, but I feel, I'm contributing more to the team in my PB (6SPL make me even more reckless than usual, reducing my chance of survival to zero, I guess I'm a bit to trigger happy Posted Image );

This is how PGI basically fixes this game:

Just finished 2 months of work, some heavy programming. I installed MWO, visited the forums, saw that my favorite mech is f*cked up, I uninstalled the game and moved on.

Not sure I'd quite say it's completely F'ed, but it could use some help.

Some help? It still retains the highest agility of all mechs. Try any of the oversized lights and you'll really feel the burn of their 'balance' :/

That being said, half the nerfs were way over the top. The biggest issue at the moment is the rather low server tick rate combined with high ping + acceleration, and HSR has some real problems trying to deal with Locusts.

Well, we lost, but at least my Pirates Bane finally cracked that Barrier of 1000 Pts of damage Posted Image

The match was pretty intense, I was last man standing. After the match I needed to cool down, too Posted Image

Just had the most epic match in a locust ever. Was rocking my 3S but ran out of ammo and heavily damaged.

We were down to the last couple of mechs and finally a hurt enemy raven but still with weapons so i did the only thing i could.

.....RAMMING SPEED! shockingly i managed to leg him then loop around a couple of times to finish off his other leg.

He collapsed and we won as last man standing!

Thanks to Demon Raziel for uploading the video. And for recomending ramming speed.

And here they say there's no melee in the game :P
