You know I have always wondering if these are walking tanks why would they have windows? Seems like they would have ports and cameras and better armor.

it's not glass, it's a crystal that is almost essentially strong as the metal.
in the lore there is a 360 degree field of view on screens in the cockpit, there is also the option to look out of the clear cockpit glass in case the monitors get damaged or some other reason

wtf are you ppl bitching about?

Nausea. Before the patch, I could play all night. Now I can't play a match without needing to walk away from the screen.

To answer the obvious trolling retort, yes, my video card drivers are up to date.

All,

My two cents. The effect doesn't bother me, what bothers me is the drastic reduction in FPS. Prior ro today I've been running highest settings 1920x1080 at over 50fps solid. Today I am running around 25-30 FPS and actually notice.

Please give me the option to remove it, or otherwise tone it down, or otherwise bring the FPS up.

Thank you

Mac

lol.. my first match was in my highlander, I was like sweet.. I like the subtle hints of glass.

My next match was in my Atlas, and all I could think of was WOW MY ATLAS NEEDS GLASSES!

This.

It's not bad in all mechs and on all maps.

However, it's VERY bad in some mechs and on some maps. River City is the worst map.

Also, because the backs of the cockpits are open, you get severe glare on maps with lower sun/light sources (River City is one) when the sun is behind your mech, which is really f***ed up.

I think a problem is that the window effect bounces up and down, but as it is closer it does not bounce up and down in sync with further terrain.

This creates a mild nausea like effect for me after a while like the jump jet shake did.

However it only seems to be a problem on some maps. Just jumped in to caustic and can not see any cockpit effect in the middle of the sceen.

Canyon was a total nightmare.

I can absolutely see how this would be a problem.

My first drop after the patch, in a Jagermech, starting at the upper spawn point in river city, was really disorienting. The sun glare (from the sun behind my mech) lit up the scratches on the cockpit glass a bright green. The scratches then bounced up and down as I walked, trying to peer through them and focus on distant targets while the bright green spots bounced.

Hate it, it's annoying. If my glass was that bad I would replace it.

I just wish the resources in the art department had been better invested on Medium Mech scaling that effects game play mechanics much more significantly. Especially as scaling has been identified as an economical issue to resolve.

And now they simply add an option to turn it off ?! Money and time well spent then?

I love it myself, Really like how it makes the mechs feel. I do think it needs work, but overall if they add a option to turn it off, everyone would because at times it does hinder distance. That is a good thing in my eyes, but if people can turn it off I will also.

I love the glass. It adds dimension and depth to the cockpit. I don't know about the color, but I think it a great addition. It hasn't messed with my FPS at all. I will agree give it a option to turn on/off so the kids can have fun too.

Is it just tourmaline. I dropped in an Atlas for a round on Canyon and it wasn't half as bad. Could you test with low settings and low texture details as that is how I play. Maybe it is less pronounced at some settings.

It looks like garbage. The dirty windshield effect obscures vision. What was needed was an approach identical to how they render cockpit reflections in flight simulators. As it stands nothing of the outside environment is visible, just sunlight illuminating dirt.

It will get better in time :)

But do not add a option to remove it. It needs to be apart of the game, with damage and stuff. Thanks ;)

I would Iike the ability to turn it off. I've played a few matchs so far, and I don't like it. I don't get a headache or anything like that, but I find it quite distracting, especially when going from dark areas to light areas (and vice versa). I just don't like anything that obscures vision. It's not immersive. It's frustrating.

PGI needs to add a toggle for cockpit glass.

If you like it, turn it on. if you dont like it, turn it off.

We really shouldnt even be arguing about cockpit glass... but PGI didnt put a toggle in the game.

I feel you are wrong, there should be no toggle at all. It should be apart of the game play of a mech, and if they add a toggle everyone would turn it off to give them a edge.

No toggle off, improve it and make it better.

The physics are off horribly. Sitting in the shade, sun is behind the wall behind me, and I still have a glare???

in this case you are probably reflecting from inside..not outside :)

No it is not. This is just a excuse to get it removed. I watch streamers and many of them don't even notice and it adds a cool element to the game.

This whole, think of the movies bs, is BS and most of them know it.
