The difference with the rest of the cockpit contros as you pointed out is I am not focusing on that as much, whereas through the cockpit I am staring more intently even with peripheral to try and spot enemies, combined with the fact the cockpit is "static" and not transparent, whereas the transparent scratches etc, have motion going on as i torso twist and move "behind" the scratch if that makes sense, compounding the effect drawing attention.

This! Each time I switch focus from far-sight back to near-sight my eyes end up focusing on the dirt-layer, it then takes about half a second for my eyes to compensate. The fact that the glass effect layer is only moving up and down (at least that was my impression) during movement while the cockpit is going right side up then left side up and so on (the side with the moving foot is raised while the foot is in the air and then lowered when it touches ground) only empowers this effect more. I might be able to ignore it, if it was in sync with the cockpit but having the glass itself move right-side up while the glass effect is just moving up makes my brain just hurt after 5-10 minutes of playing.
And again: I never, ever experienced any kind of motional sickness during video games before.

Just take a look how a cockpit glass should look like: http://youtu.be/vs-iHpom6UQ?t=2m

Wow, thanks for this, it shows exactly what I was saying in a previous post. Well I also said in daylight there should be not much of reflection but when the sun goes in like this, yes there could be.

Posted Image

This screenshot is more what I was hoping for than what we got. Look at the arm reflection, it's awesome. I had to pause to catch it because the game pace is fast and of course the reflection last for a fraction of a second, I invite everyone to click the YouTube link above and carefully watch for 20 seconds, you'll see at 2:10 the sun hit the arm and the reflection happen. Very nice.

I wonder if PGI is still reading? I hope you'll consider fine tuning and somewhat achieve something similar. I know it's hard to please everyone, I already hear some folks whining this will lower their already low framerate. So what? I bought a new video card a few months ago to play up to date games, one day you have to follow the technology.

Indeed. It's very nice. But is it realistic? Just for this example, where are the mosquito stains? Would you still like it, if they were there?
Anyway, this kind of cockpit glass could be a good compromise. Less scratches, more glassy look. Perhaps it'll go that way and it would be way better than removing it completely or implementing an on/off switch.

Before a run, there's a full team around the car and on guy is taking care of cleaning the windshield. Also, in a city there aren't a lot of mosquito.

Yes I would accept a few things showing up, like another screenshot I posted in another thread where you see cracks appear when you take damage to the head and head only so they don't pop too often and sometimes not at all because you don't always take hit to the head.

Always a d-bag with the attitude "if it didnt happen to me, it isn't happening"... just like when PGI screwed up with JJ shake.

I will admit, it isn't really effecting me... not like JJ shake ( which I had to stop playing until that was removed ), but I have sympathy for those it is effecting.

That said, I dont like it. With all the fog, haze, blur and texture popping they seem to be adding to the game already, more blurry certainly isn't welcome.

There were soooooo many fakers about the shake, because they couldn't jump snipe anymore, so they made it up. If you got motion sickness that easily, then you wouldn't be playing this game at all, or any game for that matter.

Its the same thing thats happening here, its something that people were like "OMG ITS DIFFERENT! Quick how can we make PGI bend over backwards because we don't like it". Its the same crowed (see also trolls) that made PGI cave the first time with JJ shake, trying to do the same thing now with cockpit glass.

Only "issue" i see with the system is it seems a little backwards to me. Glass is noticeable when the sun is behind you rather then in front of you, a little counter-intuitive. It also gets "bad" on mechs that have already poor FoV, (atlas), which right now is the FoM for a lot of people. Its not that bad (breaking gameplay wise) on other mechs with bigger windows (Highlanders).

Please calm down everyone.

I totally believe that there might be people who have real problems with the new cockpit glass effect. If their numbers are as great as it seems or if there are free riders pushing those numbers doesn't matter and shouldn't be our concern in this discussion.

From a medical viewpoint, I'd advise those who really have problems, to seek out medical help or to stop playing. But that is totally their decision alone if they want to heed that advise and I will not condemn them for not following it. It's also completly PGIs decsion if they want to take these players into consideration.

To complain about those who complain, or to create and to uphold prejudice, wont help anyone.

apperently if you have a problem you might just be a 'free rider?'how insulting,i dont see 'volunteer' next to your name, are we paying you? if you dislike cockpit glass email support, tell them egomane said 'stop playing free rider'

I know I shouldn't feed the troll, but are you serious ? Maybe you should look up the word "free rider" in a dictionary.
Hint: Free riders can be paying customers.

BTT: Tech cockpit glass moves in sync with the cockpit frame. But because it's in the center of a somewhat parabolic movement, it seems less moving than the outer rims.

Following your argument - what then is the real reason behind the complains about the glass effect? I can only speak for myself, but it has no impact on my far or near aiming. And I can't recall any complains from others going in that direction as well.
It just forces me to stop playing after 2-3 matches because if I play longer, I get a headache from playing MWO.

So, why are people so opposed to make it optional? Hell, for all I care get yourself a stroboscope cockpit item if you feel like it (I'm certain such can be arranged as a compensation for a fitting investment). But please do not force one on me just because it doesn't give you a headache!

Here's my question for all the players in the 'keep it!" column. From what I've read so far in this thread, it doesn't impede your ability to play the game at all (see opponents, aim & shoot, avoid incoming, etc.). That's what I've taken away from your arguments. "This doesn't affect me."

So, if it doesn't affect you, why would it matter if others DIDN'T have it? It's a non-factor for you already. How would those NOT running it have any advantage over you? Please, do explain.

I just discovered I can't play hawken either, Last night I cranked it up for the first time to play as an alternative, It has dirty cockpit glass, it makes me nauseous too, not quite as quick as MWO, but within 5 mins  The condition is actually called "Simulator Sickness". T

There have been a few games over the years that I have had the effect, Sometimes it only kicks in after more then an hour of playing, sometimes a lot sooner. WHen playing ARMA3 I HAVE to turn of motion blur, and any games that have motion blur (especially to that degree) I can't play for very long at all.

Do all the people saying "tough it out" do you have the same perspective on Color blind people who wan't a Colour blind mind mode which changes the colours that makes it easier for them to differentiate? should they just tough it out to?

I got ill from Jump Jet shake, I never jump jet sniped, but used it in my jenner.I didn't get sick "playing the game" prior to jump jet shake. Luckily with that there was a soluion, I could still play the game, I just didnt use Jump Jets.

One thing I might try is changing the FOV, and see if that provides some relief, might do it tomorrow night. As I want to play the game, I have been trying various things, I haven't simply gone nope don't like it and QQed like some people here seem to be implying.

I took a few days off, but I tried again last night and it didn't seem to effect me like it did the first night.

Horrible change PGI thanks for nothing. The amount of fog, blur, and haze you place in all the maps was bad enough now adding more visual impairment is really crappy.

I too have gotten A headache playing with the new Dirty Screen and I still played on. Been an Army Ranger and done all the real stuff. non moving small cracks etc would be better immersion. To stop the players from being unable to play remove the dirty screen or toggle to off. For those who really want that immersion follow these easy steps. 1. Go outside 2. get some mud 3. go back inside 4. Throw mud on your computer screen you now have full immersion

Thanks a lot for these useful tips, now I know I was wrong the whole time, these tips just made you much more believable.
I'm glad you're here to share your wisdom with us stupid people....

Jeeeez.....

Russ already stated it will be toned down and normalized.
So in the mean time, here's a real tipp for you:
- go outside
- take a breath of fresh air
- have a break

It won't remove glass and neither help Immersion, but at least you won't be ill.

Heres a real tip for you, if you think cockpit glass is great and adds to EmeShun go one step further and sit in your tracksuit playing the game with heaters blaring at you with 1 spare, thats saved for when you override shutdown, Those cockpits get hot bro.

Glass needs to go. No one asked for it, no one wanted it. And it looks crappy.

There is enough stuff on my screen without this.

We probably got this due to the dev's messing around with something ELSE, and they tripped over this, so they deployed it. Still a waste of time.
