I haven't read all of the posts so someone might have said this already, but it is basically just to add immersion. I personally think it looks cool- it isn't blinding and it's easy to ignore IMO.

Look, if you honestly think that it hampers your ability to 'snipe', then you're just spouting crap. Afraid of new things, that's what. I play long range, A LOT, and it doesn't bother me. Don't hate something just because you didn't ask for it, or because it's new. It adds immersion and, in reality, doesn't subtract from the gameplay.

Also stop saying it makes the game look 'worse'. Worse? In what way? In that it reflects you're piloting a giant, war scarred battle mech? If anything, without the graphical effects the game looks more bland and verging on generic. The film grain makes sense considering you're wearing a neurohelmet; did you guys forget that?

I applaud PGI for taking the time to put in features like this, which so many other developers pass over as 'unnecessary'.

Ok but how about a window water squirter and window wiper module? And for only 10,000 experience points and 3 million c bills you could upgrade to level 2 window squirter (that one includes some window cleaner fluid, but be careful you need a lot of general battle experience to use it).

Also why would a brand new mech come with a badly damaged windscreen, is the mech factory based on one of those exoplanets where it hails metal and they are lacking warehouse space so they store all the new mechs outside?

And again and again. I keep checking a couple threads to see if they'll ever do anything about these issues. Until then it's bump every 2 months.

Film Grain and Cockpit Glass will be toggleable. Check the Command Chair posts.

Happy now?

Quite, actually. That was the absolutely barrier to me returning so I'll have to watch the patch notes. The only outright ***** I really have left on the list is never wanting to accidentally click buy.

I keep saying this. It's NOT glass! it's Transparent Armor! that's why it's a little grainy. and there not going to redesign the Cockpits of all the mech's no matter what. Sorry. I have to say that I like the look of the cockpits, they just help me immerse myself in the game.

Wow! I just realised you can now turn off window cracks and dirt, film grain and blurring.

It looks very clear and nice.

Now if they could just add a setting to turn off the useless monitors and save some heat too that would be great! ^_^

3 Things.

From comparing my own images with some of the ones uploaded, looks like the two main issues are low/med textures, low res and low/med shaders in concert. The Shaders add a flat specular shine that is distracting, the texture that creates the actual cracks on the screen are pixelated and the low res just amplifies the issue.

I would suggest trying to up the texture res first and see if you can see better with thinner cracks on the screen.
