Is that really the only thing you bought (outside of the colors, which I can understand)?

No I also have a snowflake and a couple of mechbays. Like maybe 10? Talon package helped a little with them.

If you experience instability in the game, use the repair tool.

Feeling pretty burned as of late. I was considering a month or so off - sounds like it really didn't do you any good at all - is that about right?

That is quite right. Taking a month off MWO and playing another FPS did quite the opposite; it reinforced what being a crackshot is supposed to feel like, and that's mowing people down like it ain't no thang. Coming back was just like "Aw common man, this {Scrap} is still broken? Get me some of that Lorazepam, stat."

Only way to fix this game is for everyone to STOP pumping money and just sit back and wait to see what happens. Don't buy any weekly sales, no MC, no premium time, camo or any of the rubbish they put out.

Fixing hit detection is one thing - but to keep pumping out weekly sales right on the dot every single weekend - it is perhaps the only deadline that PGI never missed!

Hit detection goes as far back as when I first played this game back in 2012 - I remembered I hit a Catapult with six ML to the head and NOTHING registered - it was cored too.

Yeah I was feeding the machine I guess. I had quite a blast playing this game, especially for the first half of my gaming time. Closed beta was absolutely awesome. I honestly couldn't care less about the minor decisions they've made-- it's their game after all. Like I said, I was ready to make do with pretty much anything that came about with the game provided it wasn't unplayable. And right now, I cannot play the game by my definition of playable which is causing damage to the enemy equal to the damage output of my weapon at that particular range. Without fulfilling at least that criterion, I refuse to log back in. I still win the vast majority of my games, but I'm not having fun doing it. It's like golfing with ping pong balls or.....er....something.

What's unfortunate is that if it weren't for hit detection, knowing myself I'd probably keep dumping money on the game. Every single time one of those packs came out, I bought highest level one without a second thought. Just pulled out my card and made the purchase. Clan packs came out and I said no. Not happening. Give me my hit detection back (maybe throw in some lobbies) and you have yourselves a deal, which means my usual spending habits.

I'm by no means a crack shot at all - far from it but I'm not shooting blind either - imagine what's it like for us in Australia with 300ms + ping!

A friend of mine did mention that the best time to use SRMs here in AU is during daytime when ping is about 270 - 280 - where there's at least some hit detection - anything above that - stow your SRMs and don't bother.

Why did PGI break the game even further? I remember back in 2012, when SRM did 90 damage - it did kill a LOT of people and I was having fun!

The only problem with fixing hit detection is that you have PGI doing it.

I've been at 510 MC since I bought Phoenix and said, "No more until progress." Progress hasn't happened, and so neither has more money. Believe me - I'd love to grab a couple of good (non-PB hero 'mechs) and some paint. But I've made it this far, and it looks like they're getting close these days.

Well, I have yet to activate any of my Premium time because I keep waiting for the real game to emerge. I still have the Legendary Premium plus the Overlord plus the Griffin package time. As for the MC, I ended up buying a few 'mechs last year, along with the 'mech bays, and am currently sitting on 46 MC - and it's been at that number for MONTHS now. I refuse to give PGI any more of my money until some things are fixed. I've got thousands and thousands of 'mech XP across several 'mech that I would love to convert over to general XP but I would have to spend money to buy MC to do it, and again, PGI isn't getting my money until..well, yeah...there's that dead horse again.

Oh yes, as for the hit detection - I sit at 80-90 ping constantly and seem to have few issues. I think I'm a pretty good shot and I carefully watch to make sure my shots are registering. *shrug* I guess some people just have better luck with their internet connections and hit detection than others??

Lets be honest, there are many people out there that know how to aim, but since HSR is total frak up, only thing we can do is hope that next volley will register which is unacceptable (we are not In WWII where sloped armor will bounce of shells).

I just started playing Planetside 2 for the past month, and I am, according to the game's player stat database, ranked #15th for headshot ratio in the entire game for the SVA-88 LMG. Suffice to say that I can point and click at your face pretty quick and without much of a sweat.

As a reminder, Planetside 2 uses client hit detection... you're not hitting players, you're hitting their past selves. :(
Planetside 2's netcode is pretty bonkers and so easily abusable it's not even funny, so is this games' and BF 4's, etc.

Hit detection simply isn't a strong part of 2013-14's FPS games.

MWO is server authoritative. Anything client side can be and eventually will be hacked. The user.cfg client ***** available in MWO can change the view of the game but not much else. Aimbots are still possible in MWO ... it could be that the cockpit glass and other items that obscure the view are intended to partially counter aimbots but I'm not sure that would work. Other than those items ... I don't know what details if any are handled client side and are thus susceptible to hacking.

I'm experiencing the exact same issues as OP. Yesterday pounding an Awesome CT at almost point blank range with UAC/5, only to see that my crosshair stays yellow and Awesome takes no damage. Almost rage quit that match. I've lost matches because my shots don't register to some light mechs (seems to depend on the player). And I'm a pretty good shot. Battlemaster standing still, I shoot it with full load of Swayback in the CT, Battlemaster's side torso goes yellow.

I've been told that some server's cause these issues, but I dunno. I seem to be suffering from hitreg and desync issues more than anyone else in my group and there's nothing I can do about it.

In your hit detection you forgot that gauss can shoot through buildings, the ground and other obstacles -including other mechs! When I emailed support I got a response "This is a known issue, we are working on it". Month later, no change.

The position tracker that is displayed alongside FPS counter (or at least used to) has been once found guilty of aimbot problems.

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Indonesia, ping of ~330, utterly BS hit detection to the point I could probably call out the precise coordinates of the guy I'm trying to hit over voice and achieve more reliable registration. Typical example from just a bit ago: completely cored HL straight ahead ~40m away, I chain-fire 3 streaks into him, put 2 AC20 into his CT, at least 2x ML to same location and... he kills me when I started out with a less cored CT and took no damage from other players. Didn't notice any damage registration to other parts of his armor and everything hit visually on my display. Didn't notice any desync abnormalities in movement/etc. Pingtest to the server closest to Montreal shows no packet loss and low jitter.

The funny thing is when HSR was first launched I seem to recall everything hitting more or less accurately - aim for a component and hit that component, not an entirely different part of the mech or just nothing at all.

did you notice that even thou all three shots hit that mech, only the last shot registered?

If the first shot would have registered it would have died and you could have saved those two shots for another mech.
