Assaults - Don't want one. I sold every assault I ever tried - I just can't stand the slowness.

I admire your conviction without sharing it.

Haha, I certainly know assaults are good. Believe me, I love having a good one on my team. But when I get into one... I'm busy trying to correct aim, dealing with being the biggest target around, leeeeeaaaning forward to try and get to the battle before it's over, etc.

Of course, I could take a Victor and stuff a big engine in, but something just feels wrong even then. Piloting assaults makes me feel FAT. :excl:

Light: FS9-E Firestarter (wicked awesome fun)
Medium: WVR-7K (After discovering this mechs awesomeness it has firmly replaced my 2D2)
Heavy: JM6-FB
Assault: VTR-9S Victor (I live in mine just about)

Light - Spider 5D - ECM OP
Medium - Shadowhawk 2D2 - Most flexible, can missile, ballistic, or energy focus or go multirole.
Heavy - Jaeger DD - best range of ballistic loadout options with useful # of energy hardpoints, good 'ergonomics' with high hardpoints
Assault - Victor 9S - Mobile, can be built with a huge number of purposes in mind. Only wish missile tubes were designed better really.

Does anyone know when the Subtitles for this post are due to be released?

Light: JR7-K (Small, fast, maneuverable, has a missile port and 4 Module slots... if module slots are not permitted, then it would be a JR7-D instead)
Medium: SHD-2D2
Heavy: CTF-3D
Assault: HGN-733C (Although I severely dislike all weapons being on one side).

(Inspired by cSand's post, just less....harsh, lol)

You are allowed to keep just your base 4 Mechbays, and each one HAS to be a different weight class (Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault). All are of course fully unlocked and mastered versions.

What 4 are you filling your personal Leopard Class Dropship with? Which variant? Feel free to post preferred loadouts, too.

Me?
Light: FS9-E Firestarter
Medium: SHD-2D2 ShadowHawk
Heavy: CFT-IM Cataphract
Assault: VTR-9S Victor

Now you?

Hmm I can't try the FS9, but it looks interesting. I'd do:
Light: JR7-F
Medium: SHD-2D2 or 5M (they are on par for me); also the BJ-1 could slip into.
Heavy: CTF-3D
Assault: VTR-DS.. also 733C or 733 could easily replace it, but since they'll be nerfed.. DS then (until the genius of Inoye doesn't decide to nerf Victors as well).

Light-my Urbanmech configuration Spider 5K. Replaced with an actual Urbie should it be released. Medium-Hunchback 4SP Heavy-Tough call between my Catapult K2 and my Dragon, but I will have to go with my K2 as she was my first Mech Assault-Either a Highlander, Awsome or an Atlas.

COM-2D; HBK-4G(F); Protector; BLR-1G(P). Close one between the Blerg and the Dragon Slayer, but that victor just can't hold up against that cockpit or those ballin' 80's tractor tyres... I mean shoulder pads.

Heck, I would love to see my Griffins stand on top too (even while some silly people cry about the PPC being OP in Gameplay Balance, which is funny, because a perfect posterboy on the PPC not being so, is a Griffin vs ShadowHawk head to head. The Griffin with it's PPC is outclassed by the Shads ballistic in every way possible. Which is sad, as I always liked the Griff more in TT)

For a LRM skirmisher the Griffin 1N/3M has a nontrivial edge over the Shad 2D2 due to missile tube caps. Otherwise you are right that due to ballistics and lackluster SRMs the Shad is a better chassis to grind through. When SRM gets a small buff (or everything else get a nerf) then there may be more parity between Griffins and Shads.

I feel largely the same, I'm just struggling to improve in them. I have these weird delusiona of wanting to be a well-rounded pilot (even though I'm a light driver at heart).

Yes, and thanks. :excl: First assault I've ever really loved. Highest W/L and K/D in my garage, but more than that, really crazy fun for me. Some of that's skill development, some of it's PC upgrade but some of it is an undeniable feeling of "clicking." It just feels right.

COM-1B (ER Large, a pair of medium pulses, and an XL 225. Super fast long range sniper with a decent close-in punch)
BJ-1 (Stock weapons load, 2x AC/2, 4 MLas, Standard 180, 4-5 tons of ammo, and jump jets. Small, agile direct fire support.)
JM6-S (2x AC/2, 2x AC/5, lots of ammo, standard 225. The Blackjack's bigger, harder hitting, slower cousin.)
AWS-8Q (3x PPC, 1x SLas, Standard 300, 21 DHS. Very high sustain, hard to put down, hits like a truck, and completely ammo independent. It's a great mech.)

Some decidedly unconventional choices Josef.
Light - Ember
Med - BJ-1
Heavy - CTF-3D
Assault - VTR-9K (The K with an AC-10 does better for me than the VTR-9S with an AC20) followed by the STK-M

Light: Eh... Firestarter - Ember
Medium: Trebuchet - 7K (although BJ-1 is a really close competitor for that spot)
Heavy: The K2.
Assault: AWS - 8Q (call me odd, but I just don't like any other assaults. (8Q is big, roomy and handles like a truck. But I love it like a good friend)

Heavy: WVR-6R

... am I doing this right?

(hint: I don't give a single flying monkey about heavies and assaults)
