You Can Only Own 1 Mech In Each Weight Class...

Medium: SHD-2H
Heavy: Orion ON1-K
Assault: Battlemaster BLR-1G
In truth picking a medium is probably the toughest for me. The Shadowhawks (2H and 2D2 especially) are really awesome mechs but I'm really enjoying the Griffins. Then there's Hunchbacks which I could never really give up either and Centurions (mostly the Yen-Lo) which are also great. In the end though the Shadowhawk is a nice versatile mech with alot of loadout options and being restricted to one mech you gotta have at least something to tinker with.
For assaults it was a toss up between the BLR-1G and 1D, the VTR-9S and the AWS-9M. Again, it comes down to versatility and available options. The 1G has a good mix of energy and ballistic hardpoints and it plays like a tank. Also, for some reason I've been having a hell of a killing streak with my current loadout.

Medium - CN9-A – I don’t even care that the SHD’s are more well-rounded, how cool do the CN9’s look? I just hope when they get updated weapon meshes that they don’t look terrible.
Heavy - CPLT-C1(F) – An old friend who has my back.
Assault - VTR-9S – 80 tons going 85 kph with an AC/20, 3 SRM 4s, 2 MLas and JJs.

Medium: CDA-3M: Very flexible for its weight and plays many roles as needed. Great for supporting a team.
Heavy: Firebrand: Good weapon placement ad provides a lot of options. -A is probably better but 30% C-bills is a must.
Assault: AS7-D-DC: Solid cornerstone mech for a team with a mixed load out to suite help in multiple roles

Med: HBK-4G(f) -- Most comfy here. No, really
Heavy: CPLT-C4 -- sometimes, you just gotta be the fire support mech for someone else's brawler
Assault: BLR-1G -- too damn cool. And I'm doing well in it. DDC is close second in this category, because ATLAS.
I like mediums... the founder Hunch was easy pick if picking just one... but if the rules were to pick four mechs for a drop, then I'd have a harder time picking just four mediums. BJ-1, YLW, CN9-D, SHD-2H, GRF-1N, WVR-6R, even KTO-GB all have a build and place in my garage and role on the field.

(F)Atlas (of course)
Orion-K
Centurion-A
Sara
Though I would swap a Battlemaster-1G in for the (F)Atlas sometimes.
These are my final 4.5. If I ever play dropship mode

Medium: Griffin 3M
Heavy: Ilya Muromets Cataphract
Assault: Highlander Rhonda Snord (HM).
I only have 3 lights (OK 5 Cicadas count as big lights) and unless they release one that interests me then all I have to choose from is my Sarah's Jenner, Raven 3L and Phoenix variant Locust 1V. Also, the Raven 3L is iconically the best spotter and makes distractions.
The Griffin has amazing torso twist and it was a toss up between this and my trusted HBK-4G. The 3M has 4 streaks, ER LL, and Medium Laser and an XL325 to chase all the lights down.
The heavy and assault choice is to bring some pain.

AWS-8Q (3x PPC, 1x SLas, Standard 300, 21 DHS. Very high sustain, hard to put down, hits like a truck, and completely ammo independent. It's a great mech.)
I want to love my Awesomes still. But that build looks like it's dead the moment a wolfpack shows up under 90 meters. Would be OK in a lance I reckon where your teammates could beat the pesky boogers off. PUGing like me though? IDK..... you got more huevos than I.

Medium- KTO 18- sorry BJ 1X, Hunchy 4SP, KTO 20, and BJ-1
Heavy- jager S no competition here.
assault- um can i take two more mediums? a good assault match for me barely dishes out it's weight in damage.

I'm not really a good light pilot so the ECM might keep me alive a little longer. Plus with the upcoming Narc changes it might be fun to run it the way it was in TT.
Medium: Shadowhawk 2D2
This is probably the hardest category for me since I love my mediums! Close contenders would be the Cicada 3M, Wolverine 6R, Yen Lo Wang, and the Griffin 3M.
Heavy: Cataphract 3D
Close contenders would be Jagermech A, Catapult C1, and the Cataphract IM.
Assault: Victor B
Highlander 733C and the Awesome 9M would be the top contenders. I went with the Victor because I like the speed/AC20 combo.

Medium: Shadow Hawk-2H
Heavy: Jagermech-DD
Assault: Misery
There are some legitimate difficult decisions here. Picking the Death's Knell was easy. But Mediums? Oh man, I have so many mastered and loved Mediums. I adore my Hunchbacks and almost wrote Grid Iron just for the Cbill bonus. But the Shadowhawks are amazing too, and I love the 2D2 as much as everyone else does, but I picked the 2H for the Phoenix Cbill boost.
Assaults were also hard to choose between. I had Heavy Metal first, but changed it. And anyone of my 3 Victors would be fantastic choices also.
It's like picking your favorite child.

Medium: KTO-20
Heavy: JM6-DD
Assault: HGN-HM
For the record I actually use non meta builds on all but the mando (4ML is about all you can fit).
In case you are wondering my current HGN-HM build is HEAVIER METAL and my jagermech build is Titan of DAKKA (yes I actually plan to use that).

Oh, its brutal. Light wolfpacks can maul me with impudence, if I let them. Yet, it happens surprisingly rarely in the game, as I play very smart in my Awesome and the only time I find myself alone is when I'm the last one left in my group and the enemy is bearing down on me and I'm screwed anyway at that point. 3x PPCs is the butter zone. You can get enough heat sinks to get a lot of sustained fire in there, and the arm/torso split feels natural to stagger fire. I consistently put out 500 damage a match with this build. It actually works awesomely well as a counter-poptart. You sit just behind the ridge, pop them with your torsos as they rise up, quickly rotate to catch their counterfire on your dead arm, then whip around with your arm PPC to get that last shot in before they disappear.

I like it... a nice somewhat eclectic mix. They might not work for me, but that is the beauty of this, is we ain't talking the "opinion" of 12 man Comp leagues, Meta or anything else, simply what we love to run. And if it is Meta, whatever, if it's not, groovy too!
