Well, to be fair, one hyper-drama "I'm quitting" post is hardly representative of the entire new player population.

You're going to find that if you survey the majority of retained players of this game, and assuming you receive a genuine response; you will find that many of us long term players come back merely for the graphics & concept. Mechanically this game is horrendous. Conceptually this game is fantastic and can be fun.

Right now we just need to get lobbies out so people will shut up about tonnage matching...

I have two main concerns with lobbies:
  • If a critical mass of people just play via lobbies, CW will be meaningless and just be a huge waste of developer resources.
  • It can potentially be a breeding ground for a different kind of elitist player.

Totally offtopic from the OP here...

#1 is a direct hit on the head of the nail. Historically, the Mechwarrior game has been made and the community created the competitive scenarios it wanted to play in... leagues, ladders... whatever.

PGI would be wise to do 2 things:

1. Release an authentication API like the Facebook API that lets users login using their MWO credentials on other sites
2. Release an API that returns match data which allows enterprising folks with programming/database experience to create the leagues/ladders that the game is played on.

Instead... they want to monetize the whole thing end-to-end... which in my opinion is not the way to longevity.

But hey... who the heck am I? ;)

@OP: Take 6 months off and try again. Sage advice.

Not a single thing said about EU servers in the Upcoming Feature thread...Nothing.
It's like they took my money and ran away. I feel like they are thieves right now.

Yes, you're a sucker. They have no intentions on expanding past the "home" servers in the reasonable future. After all, they're not an international company by any standards, so why would you expect them to be capable of finding someplace to set up EU servers when they can barely maintain theirs here?

The devs aren't willing to spend 5 minutes a month on balance, and you're calling this guy a drama queen?

So one person whines, some other people make a few comments, and you use that as proof the devs are lying? I'm amazed you can breath and type at the same time.

Take trading for example. Seriously? Great way to bring farmers to the game. I mean I'm sure they would be happy to pay the $50 box fee to farm before getting banned...oh wait...it's free to play.....

Casual players being stomped? Screenshots of your W/L or STFU with your crybaby whining. If you are losing half your games, that's normal.

Losing by a large margin in normal in a game like this, especially when people split up and get slaughtered piecemeal.

All this and more is known to anyone with a brain and who has bothered to read and learn about about the state of the game before they cry like little *******.

Do you even play the game? 9 out of 10 games end in landslides anymore, though it's not just casuals getting stomped, it's just horrendous matchmaking.

And yes, horrendous matchmaking is a valid complaint.

Am I the only 100% solo player who is not experiencing these "9 out of 10 games end in landslides"?

It's pretty simple for me.

I can tell when the MM is set to "up yours" by the change on force components. Basically, it'll go from lances of "good" 'Mechs and weight-heavy (ie, people wise to the meta) units to hordes of mediums and Trials.

Trust me, those Trial pilots are getting stomped, and they're newbies- I'm sitting there spectating while they can't figure out how to fire LRMs or complaining that they suck, because silly things like using the R key aren't really explained, much less lockons. Nothing like watching an 85-ton assault effectively armed with 4 mediums try to fight at 50ish kph, am I right?

And that's -right in the middle of ELO-ville-. Newbies do not belong in the same games as the experts that dissect them like flies. But that's where they get put- not with a rock-bottom ELO, but squarely in the range that allows them to be placed in the same matches as high-end players.

And since you don't lose ELO ranking on a loss you were predicted to lose, you get stomped again and again, since it takes an obscene number of losses in a row to drop you outside the range of the top threshold.

PGI doesn't show server numbers anymore for a simple reason. There's nothing good to show there, and the results would likely shatter public confidence in the game.

quitting for a good while might be a good idea. Things are unlikely to change fast and you might enjoy the game when it is finished.

No promises though.

^^^This.
Randoms and baddies die...a lot. They then complain for balance as it cannot be that their not good but that whats killing them is OP. This goes for all games. Sometimes they get the victory and nerfs are put in place, then they continue to get stomped so find a new culprit to nerf, rinse and repeat in all games. And if they do not see any adequate adjustments made to make ez mode for them they rage and quit as OP.
It is this kind of lame ezmode 'everybodys a winner' new age bull $h1t that ruins pc gaming for the serious competitive gamers as you end up with a $h1t game when cater to baddies and whiners.
