Here is a UI that I made in a week (the week before PGI released their UI 2.0). This UI is not fully functional and it's missing some key features that need to be added. Since this UI was never going to be used I didn't want to spend a ton of time completing it. I may work on it in the future and add some of the needed additional features if you guys like it. This UI was created to be easy to read, navigate, and use.

Please check it out and let me know what you think. If you have any questions please see the readme.

I'm not running some random .exe file for this... if you're legit put it in a google doc with pics or make a youtube video, or something less sketchy.

yeah, i'd prefer a youtube video as well. Besides, I'm somewhat wary of downloading .exe files (virus or malware) as I'm just being on the safe side. Sure am interested in seeing your concept UI though -_-

Trust me it is clean, no virus! It is a Visual Basic User Interface that works, way better then some silly screen shots.

BTW: The files are in a Google Doc!

You do know they're developing a smurfy type mech lab right?

And yea, I'm not clicking random .exe files someone posts in a forum. ESPECIALLY this forum

OK, ok, since I worked on this and Zorack has a fairly low and therefore "untrustworthy" post count I'll not only say that this is safe, but I'll show you guys some screenshots of the interface.

Bfett and Zorack,

Brilliant work! Maybe you can email it to support. 'Nudge' them in the right direction -_-

To clarify, I didn't make the UI, I made the Readme file and suggested what items needed to be on the interface. This is a sum of UI 1.5 + Mech commander2 UI + Mech Warrior 4 UI.

here you can see how productive and powerful a community driven development can be. besides BFett are a many other guys like smurfynet who wants to help push things forward. It would be even cooler if pgi delivers a community map editor to us and let us build even more maps, because you know: more maps -> more fun! their inhouse QA could then test the most desired maps and implement them on their servers! that would be REALLY nice -_-

Back on topic, how do you guys like this design? Do you like the format?

Greetings all,

The latest news is that the next UI will have a "Display Only" smurfy style look. This is a non functional version to start. Meaning your will not be able to change anything on the screen, strictly a test version for functionality. The actual working version will be in a later install.

This was stated in the last 3 part Podcast's with Bryan Ekman. The NGNG edition.

- There have been many examples posted of what it should look like, but we have not seen the actual "in MechLab" version.

This is a more functional UI than whats currently there. But along these same lines I'd suggest going to look at Mechwarrior 3's UI, or Mechwarrior 2's UI. That'd be inline with what we're looking for overall as the editing system was akin to what we have now versus the Mechwarrior 4 color limitation slots.

Greetings all,

Reference any of the older Mech Warrior games and there UI Mech Lab.

- and directed at all the posters that have or show examples of some UI/smurfy sample. -

All those game's were hard coded items, we are currently experiencing "flash" presentations for the UI. Totally different interaction required for operation. Having a pop-in smurfy type of display would need to be a similar function, but it needs to talk with all the other aspects of the UI. The players inventory, the new store, checking the current market availability and price (as we get into CW and the market changes.), all need to be talking in the same language.

The new UI changes, the introduction of PGI's style smurfy layout, and tweaks to what we currently have now are being worked on. It may seem deadly slow, but everything needs to work as one interface, with new items just being "plugged" in as needed.

We should see quite a few new changes with DX11, the engine update, and all the additions on Mar4.

Have any of you downloaded the small file and ran it? If a picture is worth a thousand words then a partially functional application must be worth more.

PS: If you don't want to run the application then at least read the readme file.

Again I ask, isn't this just the GUI from the Heavy metal program?
