PGI has really got to get melee into the game so that there's a reason to add these mechs.

Alright, so what are the facts so far? We know there was a tweet about a medium mech being in the works (people believe its the Vindicator or the Assasin) as well as another assault (the Mauler). Those are the options that I'd see if they don't release a heavy mech.
However, could they be trying to surprise us with a possibly very sought-after heavy mech by NOT talking about it?

I love the call out. I especially like the non, I don't know what I'm talking about, answer. Clans will bring some new toys, but generally the IS wont get access to them for quite awhile.
Example. Ultra ACs will be available to the clans in the invasion but the IS wont have use of them generally until 3057.

None of the Black Knight variants in BattleTech are jump-capable, so the chances of any non-Hero Black Knight being jump-capable are virtually non-existent.
On top of that, all of the Black Knight variants in BattleTech are exclusively energy boats - not a one of them carries any ballistic or missile weapons. As such, the chances of any non-Hero Black Knight being anything other than a pure are virtually non-existent.
Moreover, all of the Black Knight variants in BattleTech are "standard" (that is, non-OmniTech) BattleMechs, and no OmniTech variation exists in BattleTech.
As such: MW4 lied badly about what the Black Knight is, and the chances of any non-Hero Black Knight in MWO being anything like the MW4 version are virtually non-existent.
That being said... personally, I suspect that PGI would be doing some sort of "Clanbuster Pack" sale for a Battle of Tukayyid game/community event (as Thomas D. mentions/hints-at Tukayyid, from an in-universe/RP perspective, in his recent post here - "I heard that a major operation was going to go down in May of next year on or around Tukayyid."), which could/would tie up those 'Mechs with a Clanbuster variant (the Hussar, Wyvern, Champion, Black Knight, and King Crab) until around this time next year (that is, early 2015).

Do you actually have a theory about this?

Indeed you do.
If it's not a heavy, it's likely a medium. Hopefully a 40 or 45 tonner, as we've only got 1 of each of those (and 2 50s and 5 55 tonners).
Clint, Assassin, and Vindicator seem likely in that case.

No point in having the BNC-5S because you can upgrade the 3S to get the same build, but I would love to see the BJ-2 and the CTF-3L... and a CN9-AH.
except actually, you can't, as the 5S could have up to a 400XL and hardpoints in different locations.
It would, however, be much better than the hero 'mech

While available in the period, unless your talking the Com Guards, they are less common than the Grasshopper is among the Great House militaries or mercs.
Grasshopper is too boring looking and the odd LRM launcher in the head looks weird.

The Clint is just a lighter Centurion. The Assassin, like the Whitworth, is pretty weak. They'd have to inflate the hardpoints quite a bit. The Vindicator is actually (IMO) a nicer mech.
A Dervish would make a good support mech for the mediums but it can be done with Kintaros, Griffins, 1 Wolverine, and Shadowhawks (The Trebuchet and Hunchbacks don't have the hardpoints but can do it with decent back up lasers and a bit of speed).
The Sentinel and the Hoplite would be a cool look for the game.
Edit: Forgot the Vulcan would also be pretty decent.

Also, the Clint is a lighter fast medium that can mount JJs. It's slower than the Cicada but could easily mount an XL300 (or at least a 290) in MWO, could mount a few JJs, has a Balistic hard point, and could make a good Firestarter hunter.
The CLNT-2-3T is the stock AC5/2ML build with 6 JJ. Could see it having a second Ballistic slot and maybe a third energy. The CLNT-2-4T has 2 AC2s and 1 ML, could be a 3 Ballistic 2 energy mech. CLNT-2-3U comes with double HS and is all energy, so could have 6 hardpoints. So, loadout wise, it's a little less than the Firestarter (A reason to let it use the 300XL), but you get more tonnage to play with, so you can get some speed, and/or larger weapons in the chassis.
Vulcan wouldn't be bad though from a unique look perspective. The 5S would need MASC though, and the other variants aren't timeline appropriate yet.

So what are you expecting or hoping for?
I know it's a quick jump to already be talking about whats coming next but assaults aren't really my thing so I'm not interested in the Banshee.
Speculate away!
They cant give us the warhammer due to restrictions.
Why not give us something that is very similiar?
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hammerhands
now if its a medium....
http://www.sarna.net...can_(BattleMech)
just because its very unique and would have alot of options.

. . . What do you mean 'objectively terrible'? Okay, okay, how about the

. . . What do you mean you've never heard of it? Okay, well surely we can use a good old
Ymir !
. . . What, is it too old? Wait, that's supposed to be an assault 'Mech? Huh. How about a nice 'new'
Guillotine !
. . . Hm, well I guess that has promise. . . What? Boring? Well cool you can't go wrong with a
Battleaxe !
. . . Except it doesn't quite have enough variants, does it? Okay I guess that just leaves us the
Exterminator !
. . . Yeeeeah. No.
How sure are we of getting a heavy this time around, really?
Dont forget all of those except for the Exterminator and Guillotine went or were extinct during the succession wars and were only revived during the Jihad. I personally could go for the Exterminator because i always liked the way it looked and its overall role as a headhunter.
