Damnit Bishop! I wish I had your drawing ability. :P

I don't think the Banshee looks bad, but it doesn't have the feel of the original designs. I prefer the mouth laser over the third eye TBH, but I do wish they would have done a better job with the shades.

I think it looks fantastic, it has a presence close to an Atlas, just without the face.
I haven't seen many yet, but I think they'll turn out to be fantastic Brawler replacements for Atlai/Highlanders.

Well, model quality has been on the decline for a while now. Ever since Quickdraw mechs became more boxy and simple.

I think Banshee looks decent. I'd much rather see reworked proportions for all mechs rather than more bling all over the place.

Meh...

It's not quite as grossly generic as eluded to, that said... I do agree a little effort to "emphasize" the unique nuances would go a long way to giving it that Banshee "charisma".

That said, I don't honestly expect "every" artistic re-imaging effort to be globally excepted by everyone. Too many iconic TRO designs that are burned into our highly impressionable subconscious.... :P

Laser is on the forehead on the non hero variants.

Yes, I think the head shape is the main point of peoples concern.

Yea, same. I was expecting either the sun glass visor look or the skull look.

In this case it's sort of justified though, isn't it? The Banshee is a really really old design. Have you taken a look at really old cars?

The Model T came out in 1908 and ran till 1927 and pretty much looked similar each year. Exception of course is the convertible vs. the hard top versions.

So your pictures are two different cars. So can you find me a 2014 Model T? I want to see how different they are.

Probably why we don't see the concept art any more.

Good point, (the latter is a Volga, for those who are wondering). Still, I thought that a lot of the Banshees were aging, rather than updated models.

I would simply like it slightly thinner. I thought it was boxy and ugly when i bought it but i knew it would look much better once i modified weapons and paint.
Get rid of the boxy missle box= greatly improves profile
Get rid of mouth weapon= doesnt look like a Kintaro nearly as much, has banshee mouth more or less.
Get rid of the ugly stock colors= improves overall look to players taste.

End result is it actually looks 10X better than when you bought it.
Your complaining is for nothing.

It's a nasty looking Mech for sure, and so much room for awesomeness with the head design. I'm thinking they composited a bunch of existing assets together and did a bit of vertex manipulation and called it a day :P

I was expecting it to be a little narrower and lankier. Otherwise it looks fine to me. Head has that distinct look. The rest of it was always only remarkable in how unremarkable it was.

Maybe, but in the end it still looks like the result of a drunken butthumping session between a Battlemaster and a Shadowhawk.

Sometimes, you just can't fix ugly.

I'm glad, cause the Banshee is here, FINALLY ... but ...
I looked forward to see the Banshee ingame, but the MWO implementation doesn't look like a mean machine. It looks just terribly BORING! Especially the head part.

@Bishop Steiner: Nice sketch! :rolleyes:

Take the actual elements that make the design, and improve. Not make it into Al Bundy.

Have to say big disappointment.

if you took the head off and swapped it with the battlemaster cockpit, the banshee would look more like an original shape BLR than the current BLR we have in game.

I think this has proven to me without a doubt in my mind that the mech design team has become very stale, and needs changing.

unless the next I.S. mech (not even grinding clan mechs) is a vast improvement, I can't see me supporting the game through mech sales, anymore

If they took the hand actuators off the hero 'Mech and gave it barreled PPC's like the 3S, it'd look almost like a Warhammer.

Old doesn't mean it has to look like crap....
