Why shove the ammo in it's belly? Who does that with so many other likely places for it, especially in a walking center torso?

anyone with some brains still attached wouldnt buy this mech for that price.. like hell atlas champ is cheaper, or add 300mc and get ilja... buying it for this price would be worth if you would get it along with those so called "patterns and collors" which are not included

like hell if i look at prices of other mechs that have both champs and heros... this one is so OVERPRICED that its riddiculous

Strange.
All champion mechs so far were 25% more expensive than their stock counter part.
BUT, all of these Champions had XL engines where the stock had a STD engine.

This one should actually only be 25% more expensive than a 1X + DHS and Endo.
A 1X with the same loadout and DHS/Endo cost about 9,471,000 CBills (Smurfy) which is about 3788 Posted Image.
If you add the 25% higher champion price you get 4735 Posted Image. Still less than the 4945 Posted Image

Nobody's asking for another JJ poptart, but a competent build would be nice.

.

Absolutely NOTHING competent about building a cookie cutter min-max mech that, much like belly buttons, every other person out there has...........this mech was designed to work as a balanced heavy mech, not a min-maxxer's FLD wet dream.

When folks learn how to be competitive without making use of all ac-ppc meta junk (hopefully when PGI gets around to penalizing those unoriginal junk builds) they'll appreciate a mech of this nature more.

Side note your video comparison is nearly a year old. And before about 6 buffs to reduce spread.

I hope you don't refer to an additional lb10x?

AC/2.

LB-10x, AC/2, 3 ML, 2 Streaks. All pug matches. Remember alpha lance is always reserved for premades. "8" is my screenshot key.

Note: The above and the below are dated one day before the video they were featured in, which is January. Before recent buffs. Since new players don't usually have 4 man premades (let alone that kind of success with a Dragon), that's quite clearly an entire team of players screwing around with trial mechs for fun.

This one is two weeks ago, after recent buffs.

And this Hunchback 4G with an XL 270 engine is back in September, one day before uploaded. LB-10x, 3 SPL, 2 MGs. <--Edit: The only non-pug match. I had a Commando recording me, Lordred. In teamspeak were 2 players. One waiting to join, and one playing World of Tanks and complaining about cheaters.

Of course, this is me we're talking about.

I did this with exclusively MPLs and MGs, back when MPLs didn't have any buffs in Valentine's era, 2013. Back when MGs were quite a bit weaker, after being blatantly left to die by the team's premade group who died not long after.
And yes, my Cataphracts refuse to stay down, he'll get back up. Give him time.

But unlike many, I still brawl. (This one spoilered because ER PPC brawler Catapult)
Spoiler

While not a fan of the LBX-10 for opportunity cost as far as damage, this does look like a good trainer mech. Ballistic lead, LL torso/ML arms limitations and benefits. New player needing a less accurate AC aim. Could be the STK © you know. No redeeming qualities there. Like taking a leak on your own Stalker leg.

Find myself going AC 20 for bigger than the AC 5 family anyway. 5 mech length lead at 400m is doable ;) .

edit: Just as important, the LBX is fun to shoot. New player attraction right there.

I totally commend PGI for giving new players a big mech that does not have a XL Engine. However, the low arm armor with weapons mystifies me, particularly since the hit-box changes. If your gonna strip arm armor that's cool, but I would never put weapons there.

Why not this instead? http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0a244eca9f96dc1

I think you can reasonably "get away" with putting "throw away" weapons in weakened arm areas, particularly medium lasers (you could use small or small pulse if you want). SInce the focus on the Cataphract really isn't with its arms (unless you want to occasionally use it to shield damage), losing a solo medium laser isn't going to cripple you (it's not the focus of your build or where the bulk of the weaponry comes from). The extra tonnage that would have normally been applied to armor in the arms isn't going to hurt you that much and it would unlikely cause that much of an extra strain on your heatsinks.
