Ironically, there actually is the Hatchetman-NH....which dispenses of the iconic hatchet entirely as Kuritans that captured the things wouldn't use them

But my money's on the Vindicator. Mediocre or not, it's actually got some variety. The generic one is pretty meh, but there's variants that could go PPC/AC (1X) with full range of motion, a decent energy/missile mix (1SIC) of hardpoints, a faster 45 tonner period (1AA) which at this point would be the most nimble thing in it's tonnage, and the oversinked for TT but not for MWO -3L is an advanced-tech option too (though it'd have fewer hardpoints than the original).

I don't "get" the moaning that the Vindicator won't give us anything we don't already have.

I understand the sentiment... The Vind won't do anything better than any other mech.

But looking ahead to CW and back on Lore, it makes perfect sense. Houses didn't have access to ALL mechs of ALL weight types, so they developed many different chassis of their own, that ended up being very similar in abilities/weaknesses as some mechs of their enemies.

Right now, while the game is nothing more than repeated pointless skirmishes, better mech variety would be great.

But, when CW launches with weight restrictions and you need a 35-50 ton mech, and your unit holds no worlds to make the BJ or HBK affordable, you may be very happy to realize that you can afford the Vindicator and flush out your unit for a full tonnage drop.

So with this mech basically being confirmed, how competitive do you think it will be? It just seems to be strictly worse than the blackjack

Competitive... No idea. But it was a solid combat unit that Capellan players should be happy to be getting.

TT usefulness does not equal MW:O usefulness. ;)

Shadowhawk is not the best medium, that is a personal opinion and is determined by piloting styles. Sure it is a good mech but the only thing that makes it so is the fact it has ballistic points. Other than that it dies just as fast as any other paper medium. Myself personally, I do much better in a griffin, much better maneuverability and torso twist.

Regards

I've never even piloted a Shadowhawk, but I do like running circles around them in smaller lighter mediums. I think it would be nice to have another 45 ton mech as a companion to the Blackjack.

The Griffin is probably going to be my next chassis unless I like the looks of this new 45 tonner. The Griffin has incredible torso twist specs.

Thanks man! I've been looking for this pic for a while now so I can put it in our guild recruitment thread in Outreach. ;)

Glad to help

(Took me ages to get that blue shading correct around the yellow lettering, but I was pretty happy with the end result.)

You know, I always thought the Wyvern looked stupid, but I never made the homosexual link until right now. Thanks.

Yes it does, the Griffin is one of my favorite mechs for that exact reason.

Alex's Vindicator looks like such a little thing - maybe if they put it in they'll scale it appropriately and it will be smaller than an assault?

And yet, we keep seeing the Kintaro's "Haters Gonna Hate" pics spring up often.

Only 45T mech that even interests me is a Conjurer or Shadow Cat...

All the IS mechs are garbage in that weight class for quite some time...

Yes, the Wolftrap has 45 tons. How many valid variants (those with equipment available in MWO) does it have?

Vindicator is the most prolific and viable mech in the 45 ton weight bracket. While there are a couple others in 45-ton range available in 3050, most of them are a little more obscure or do not have viable variants.

My money's on that mech.

You can mimic/surpass the hardpoint count of the Cent A with the Shadow Hawk 2D2 (the 5M only has 2 missiles, and the 2H has only 1 energy). You'll gain a high-mounted ballistic, jump jets, greater XL-friendliness (Cent side torsos are fairly large, Shadow Hawk has well-balanced torsos), slightly more armor, and a little bit more firepower. What you'll lose is...basically nothing at all, unless you have some kind of love affair for Cents instead of caring for boosting your effectiveness.

Stop trying to dismiss my personal experiences so that you're better positioned to criticize PGI. If the CN9-A is a viable and succcessful mech, you have little to stand on.

The Wolf Trap seems to be a 3051 mech with no timeline appropriate variants.
