Not to say I have caused undue issues to any player intentionally, but...well I've been that guy, while learning this game that has done some rather stupid blunders in hindsight.
So, to all those whom have been in a PUG with me, I apologize!
I am getting better, sorry for any frustrations I've caused.

Not a problem at all. We all make mistakes. As long as you see that it's happening, you'll get better. You, sir, have my respect.

I do however have the occasional misfortune of turning the corner when trying to get locks for my team and finding the Red Teams Atlas/Daishi/Death Machine that Eats Blackjacks...
Beyond that its all good.

This is getting too positive and nice for this thread. XD You sir are a mechwarrior and a gentleman.
Now back to our scheduled programming:
This one happened weeks ago. Drop on Crimson straight.
we had a premade of 2 mechs on the team. Both Atlas DDCs. Great ECM cover for the team. Until we reach the "parking lot". They take the high ground and stay there. Most of our team is wondering what's going on. Myself (in an Orion) and a few others call for a push, instead of lolly gagging here. The response we get "We have 3000 LRMs, this is a good spot to use them"
Collective facepalm from the team, followed by the enemy team rushing us from the front and the side (6 mechs entered the tunnel, and came out from under us), and us getting rfolstomped 12-0. Cherry on top "noob team" is what we got from the DDCs.

But it's your fault for not holding locks on the enemy mechs under the docks, noob.

Everyone has those "oh [redacted]!!" Moments when you turn a corner and eat a facefull of death...doesn't matter who you are....carrying the seismic sensor can lessen those events, but they will still happen.

It was rather...depressing actually. Here's a basic outline of what happened.
=Start of Match=
Me: Hey guys, let's head over to f9/e8 canyon and hold it up and wait for them to come to us.
Teammate1: "Okay"
teammate2: "sounds good"
teammate3: "rgr"
Me: "Okay and lights you stay out of the canyon, but close by, try and keep an eye on them for us and bait them into the canyon." (I'm a light)
Teammate1: "Usually that gets lights killed"
Me: "yeah, but if the bait works, then their team wins. Sometimes you have to give up pawns to win a chess match."
=4 Minutes In=
Most of our team has gathered, for some bizzare reason, on the very edge of the position I mentioned earlier and are standing outside the canyon, completely exposing them.
me: "Hey guys get in here unless you're a light"
team: no response
==6 Minutes In==
Team mates begin scattering around the map randomly, none of them stick together.
Me: "...what are you guys doing? are we sticking to the plan or not?"
==8 Minutes In==
3 of our stragglers are destroyed. Score is now 0 - 3
Me: "Well then. If no one wants to actually stick to the plan, or act in a coherent manner, I'll just go do my own thing."
==10 Minutes In==
Team is completely annihilated. No further discussion on chat has happened up to this point. Each teammate basically tried to face enemy mechs alone, without any support.
Me: "...and this is why you stick to the plan."
Teammate 1: "Seriously guys...what is wrong with all of you?" (Note: this is the only other guy that actually tried to stick to the plan).
Teammate 6: "uplan suked ths why no one do it"
Me:

Then I realize...I must have gotten a non-English speaking team.

So...six minutes into the match and nobody has been lured anywhere? How long do expect these people to wait before they decide the wrong lure was put on the line and a new lure is in order?

In Team chat..."Want to rush saddle?"
Me: Sure, if everyone else is in to it.
Atlas-D-DC: I'll take point when we rush.
Me: I'm right behind you.
Whole team gathers at just this side of the lip of the saddle, while our Spider scouts and gives us position information on the enemy.
Atlas-D-DC: On my mark, charge. Everyone ready?
Team (sounding off in response): READY!
We all charge over the saddle as one behind our Atlas with an ECM umbrella and some spotting from the Spider into a fully unprepared and spread out enemy force. Annihilate them with focused fire and unspoken cooperation posthaste. They try to rally a desperate effort to fight back, and in the end did manage to kill 4 of our number, but it was ultimately a slaughter they had no way of anticipating, a PuG that was working together like they were on Skype or something. It was, quite plainly, a thing of beauty, that had all of us commenting in the chat afterword how awesome it was that that happened in a PuG, and how much fun it was, and thanking each other and complimenting each other.
Needless to say, best game I had all night, and one of the best PuG efforts I've ever seen. Most fun I've had during this entire Steiner challenge definitely.
So my whine is...why can't they ALL be like that dammit?!
A well know infamous mech pilot didn't complain about sync drops either ?

The problem is I got no feedback. Whatsoever. I don't mind changing the plan, but really 2 minutes of waiting after you've holed up somewhere, is that too much to ask?

Honestly, you are lucky you got them to hole up in the first place and, to be fair, 6 minutes into the match they were more than likely tired of doing nothing. If you are going to promise them candy, you should probably deliver. Even if the other lights didn't come with you, if you had brought anybody back to the spot, they may have stayed put.

TL;DR: There was a plan, but no one followed the plan and then blame the guy who had the original plan. Hah, pug life, wouldn't want it any other way or i'd be boring.

Match starts, i greet my team, wait for some one to bring up the "plan", no one did so i pitch one out there, and some agree.
A plan is better than no plan.
So first we have to move to a rally point that will give us the advantage, so i advise my team to set speeds to half if they are medium/light as to not leave the assaults behind.
And then we have that guy. The assault that decides to stop and look around as the team is moving(at a slow pace). Pops a few shots at the enemy scouts. Now this is all fine and dandy, but why stop? you are slow as is, and we first have to get into a vantage point.
As the battalion moves, the gap between the Assault grows, and i tell him to keep moving, ignores, fine, i'll go escort him, as the team to turn back, but only the one of the assaults that was not too far turns around, and the rest march to the rally point. The enemy team falls on us, and its a 3v12, with my smell the roses Assault, and he start's screaming in team chat how it was a stupid idea, and so on. So i tell him to run, so i can setup an UAV and artilery strike to try to slow down the advancing enemies and give him a window. But instead of trying to turn and trudge along, he decides to keep on firing in reverse.
Oh boy, the tears, "I'M SLOW"(yet the other assaults were keeping up fine), "I CAN'T RUN!"(Not any faster in reverse). So the 3 of us die, and team gets "stomped" and most cry it was a dumb plan.
