We are up 7-6 on Caustic. Five of us held the center, all heavily damaged... meanwhile a fresh warhawk cowered behind the rocks on the other side of the lake. Time is running out, we call for a regroup to the warhawk and push on the enemy which are also heavily damage. We push, I take down one then my red RT gets hit, down I go... spectating, our guys are too damaged and are dropping. What does the warhawk with virtually no damage do? NOTHING. He COWERS. Finally only him and his rock humping left... and the badly damaged mechs swarm him taking him out without losing another man. Score? 8-12. When we needed a fresh assault he hid... and that's what a lot of assaults do... hide behind the heavies and mediums.

Whine over.

I saw the same thing from a boar's head idiot. It was probably the same guy trolling.

Just now in canyon network our whole assault lance went to gamma (opposite corner from their spawn.). While the rest of us fought the whole enemy team at kappa. I realize I am all alone in a locust so I go searching for the team. I found 3 assaults and a couple heavies on the other side of the map they had just finished capping gamma so a couple went one way and a couple the other. . . We didn't win.

Crimson. Just now. I'm in my ERLL LCT-1V. I run to the lip of the saddle to scout, and see Red team pushing. I fall back, and say "let's make them come to us, rather than poke our heads over one at a time and get sniped".

By the time our slow movers catch up, and we're clustered on our side of the saddle, we've determined that Red has several LRM mechs on the other side of the saddle. I'm getting ready to suggest a group push against the LRMs, when I notice, in addition to that, Red has roughly a lance split off and coming at us through tunnel.

They're split up, all push saddle together now.

Blue team does nothing. Just stays globbed up in the middle getting LRMed from one side, and shot in the back/side from the other. Myself and an Uller charge...trying to goad everyone into moving. I crest the saddle and run like a drunken maniac into the middle of the Red team, popping a UAV in the middle of them. Die gloriously. Uller dies next. Start to observe the rest of the team...nothing. Still standing there doing nothing.

Nothing at all.

Meanwhile my UAV is sending them awesome data on enemy locations.

Nothing. Until...two more mechs break off...to rush the...

Tunnel.

We got stomped.

Looking at all the 30minute to drop whines about CW and the god damn useless twats, that are playing this game like whack a mole, world of tank players.

I swear some of these *&^%$£$£$ can't find first gear..

I'm thinking that all the good players are watching the swirly thing as Konivigs friend calls it, and drinking Beer, whiskey, coffee.

"Dont go to gamma" I say (alpine peaks, conquest), "Epsi, sigma and theta are key"

What does our assault lance do? YEP: Went to gamma.

I think about DC-ing and then I get frigging angry at my team clench my teeth and go.

Huginn gets 6 kills, 2 assists, 831 damage ( which was 2x higher damage than the nearest person on my team and equal to the entire assault lance). In my angry rant "I am sick and tired of having to perform magic to save stupid pugs why did you go to gamma!" None of them saw me taking on the stalker and gargoyle alone. None of them saw me keeping behind the successive mad-cats so I dont get my face blown off. None of them saw me playing leap-frog with a SSRM crow to keep messing with his missile lock.

The responses:
"Its not you its the mec"
"your mech is op"
"stop braging anyone can do that in a huginn"
"you are a tard"
"Anyone could do that"
"The other team went to gamma" (they sent 1 Raven 2x not an assault lance)

In short -- I hate match-maker!

It's not the MM. It's the holidays. Vacations equal bad players coming out from under rocks. Add in the stocking stuffer and oh yeah, it's gonna suck. Bad. MM can't stop drunk, stoned, macro-'cheats', and just plain stupid play.

And it has.

Beauty...is when you drop into a PUG Assault match in Tourmaline Desert in your JM6-A, ready to TAG and LRM the bajeezus out of anything that moves, and find that mad kat is there in his RVN-3L to NARC everything beforehand.

Hell YEAH did we stomp 'em! Cheers to mad kat!

Only whine I could have about that is, why can't it happen more often? ;)

So I fly into the enemy territory with my firestarter and take down the last two generators single handed (and hit omega a few times for good measure).....

I say, " Concentrate on Omega, rush omega the generators are destroyed"

I drop a second mech and charge back in with my Shadowhawk and make it to the generator and drop it to 1/2 way before I die.

Everyone pushes... stops and starts killing / being killed by the enemy

I say, " FORGET THE ENEMY JUST CHARGE AND SHOOT OMEGA!"

The response: "We have to kill them all first" "Thats suicide you want us to SUICIDE to destroy omega?"

The end result of the argument was that they wanted to kill all the enemy rather than go for omega which was within easy reach of their massed mechs.... we didn't win.

I think I am going to go back to playing Nethack.

River city. I move into position to fire on mechs across the river. I notice another mech doing the same off to my left... but the bulk of the team is hiding in B2... the lights are doing a decent job tying mechs up near the dropship. The battle rages, me and Maxed are dealing damage and killing mechs.... the rest of the team hides. I get heavily cored and takes cover under the citadel platform popping out to shoot unwary mechs. By this time we are 9-9... finally one guy figures I am badly damaged and drops down and finishes me. The rest of the team goes down in a heap.... ok good battle.. hmm lets look at scores... Oh that's why we lost! Max and I carried the entire team. There wasn't another team member above 200 dmg. *Facepalms and mutters obscenities about wusses*

Rubber banding....grrrrr!!!! Very difficult to put up a good score when you don't know where you or your enemy are going to be standing when you pull the trigger (or when you magically teleport from behind the building to directly in the middle of the OpFor.)

Yep, if your using LRM's, stay behind the direct fire mech. If you are in a Cat with big ears, your not a front line brawler with your 4 ML's. Maybe later in the match but at the start, keep back and let the ones built to slug it out get the job done.

I get what you are saying, but I would not advocate being at the back of the fight. Ideally you want to be about 1-200m or so behind the front. that way your lrms have only about 1.5-2 secs to hit target. You want to be cutting flight time down, not increasing it. Also by being closer, you have more guns handy to defend you. I usually combine lrms with direct fire on the same mech. Usually I use direct fire on the bodypart my lrms just hit.
Plus if you are an assault lrm mech, you really need to be taking your share of the inc damage. You can't expect smaller mechs to tank for you all the time.

I think the solo queue is night on unbearable now. The amount of derp I have seen today makes me honestly question peoples mental state and/or intelligence level. The amount of time it seems to take people to observe, think then act seems to be measured in eons.

thats a serious problem in alot of battles. people just go full lrm while one or 2 lrm15 + support weapons is the best way to play those assaults in a team.

but sadly, alot of people dont understand it.

also, dropping with alot of solo pugs in CW is just the same stupid behaviour than in a standard game. its no different.
i might be a fool but i expect so much more from players that go into CW yet its a complete letdown.
and if you TRY to get them organized its the same old story: stop whining. stop do this stop do that.

I did it, I ragequit a match. I've never done it before but I was so upset. When we spawn I get half my armor shot off, not at once but maybe half a minute in so I don't think it was someone alt-tabbing. Then a Timberwolf gets in my face and makes that ******** motion and blasts in the air. I don't know if it was him that shot me but he was behind me so he was a good candidate.

I see that firestarters are still broken

put two 42 point alphas dead into the rear CT of one, and his armor barely turned yellow

no wonder why the light zerg rush is so successful in CW when its being done with nearly invincible mechs..

Hence the Streakboats with or without a touch of cPL, never leave it out of a drop deck. It can be a streak adder/kitfox/stormcrow/maddog/summoner/timberlord. Doesn't matter, just have one.

sigh...

only 3 players could average 200 damage per mech...

but I knew we were in serious trouble before we even started when one of the guys said..

"I have an adder, a nova, a warhawk and a summoner....what one should I use first?"

Eh those 4 are ok. Summoner is way better than people make it out to be. Warhawk is actually the best clan assault for CW IMHO. Adder is ok sniper. Nova well....er....you got me there......
