sarcasm

I think you two fellas might need to wind your necks in a tad. I was merely providing a counterpoint.
Why is it, that if someone says something like I did they are "over sensitive" just because something may or may not bother you-if it does bother some one else it does not mean they are "over" sensitive. It might just mean you are under sensitive:)

I was raised to consider the feelings of others as much as I can, I was raised to believe rubbing other people's noses in it was rather crass. I see the gold mech thing one way, you see it another.
Don't judge me, and others because our view on it differs. At no point did I say I was going to tk anyone. I may heartily disapprove of the wage waving excess of it, but I am happy they are spending and keeping the game going. For the record, as it seems to "matter" I too could have dropped 1 or 2 of them and have spent plenty supporting this game.
I however, don't feel the need to prance about such in a manner so everyone can see my disposable income.

As I said, the tks will come because some people will feel resentment towards those who did feel the need to show off. The abuse and hate will come, it's human nature. It's also why I said it was bad move from PGI because it puts the option for people to showboat and for the rest to get agitated in the first place. If PGI hadn't have put the crass shinies in, in the first place we would not be debating it now.

So come on fellas, put away the sarcasm cannons-not needed:)

Funny. I just read through last 3 pages and the 2 biggest contributers are Jun and Bulletsponge0'... you guys sure get upset a lot. Maybe take a break from the game.

Dunno Jun very well, but Bullet is still in the new and passionate phase (which is not to say the rest of us are not passionate - but he is more.....actively passionate?)

Pretty sure (though nowhere near 100%) that most of his 'whining' is not as bad as it sounds.
(though derpy teams are pretty darn whine-worthy, in my opinion at least - and sadly, not something PGI has any power over)

Called seven mechs coming over saddle, team continues to camp at B3, waiting for the enemy team...

Going 54k and trying to get to safety as fast as mechanically possible I call out again, we are being flanked, tunnel.

A moment later and encircled by fast enemy mechs, the team is still camping at B3..

Hint: We lost and all the dead mechs were still camping at B3...

Oh god...why do i keep getting on teams like this...

this match sounds kinda familiar. was there someone complaining about how bad the team was after the first friendly death (them i think) about how everyone's a coward and we deserve to lose while cheering on the enemy in chat? otherwise it's a different match with the exact same thing happening.

i've been in too many conquest matches where it starts off even, boths sides have 2 caps, then by the time i'm at the next cap point i'm the only mech left or it's 1-8 their favor. at those points i just sigh and try to find the nearest enemy pile so i can shoot stuff, die quick and get a new match.

Assault on Alpine

Enemy team takes and holds H10 mountain top, close to their base to take advantage of base turret support. Smart.

Our team is pretty well built with ECMs and a good mix of speed, armor and weapons, so we decide to push.

We loop around the plains and beacon hill to the extreme north to move in cover and come up on the Wall & Tower hill, setting up 2 firing lines on the mountain top.

The match turns into a real grind with really smart play and nobody over-committing or losing position. Mechs start dropping on both sides gradually, everyone is beat up and both groups kind of break off to re-maneuver for *hopefully* better positions.

The firefight resumes and with about 4 mins left we're up 9-8 and every mech on both sides is glowing red & orange all over. Another exchange of fire and we're now up 10-9, but we have a disco so it's actually 2vs2 left.

Our entire team is screaming "FALL BACK, only 30 seconds till we win" or "Don't ENGAGE, You've already won and they have more weight & firepower!" or "Don't go that way, their base has turrets!"

This is when a friendly BJ (apparently blind to all text) decides he's going to chase down a "missle boat" (he typed out his plan) and starts charging past the remaining two enemy mechs who are on the "wall" to the west of their base. All while guys on our team are telling him "Not a missle boat, those are the turrets!" and "There's only 10 seconds left WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!"

This places our remaining CTF in a tough position as he sees enemy fire zeroing in on the BJ, so he moves up to engage as he's in fairly good condition and has lots of AC5 ammo. He starts chewing into one enemy as the clock is ticking down, he's chewing EVERYTHING off the enemy but not focusing well to get a quicker kill.

The other enemy drops our BJ with ease, ties it up at 10-10, clock ticks to '0' and the tie kills everyones' rewards.

Ugh.

Just happened. this may be a new one.

Assault on FC

Desktop General (DG) starts spouting orders before the match starts.
No big deal, most of what he says makes sense.
situation changes 5 minutes in and reasonable pugs adjust as needed.
DG starts ranting that no one is listening to him
Pug keeps killing up 10 - 5
DG wan'ts to hold up at base.
Pug is 11 -5
DG ranting that we are all stupid and we are going to lose if we keep chasing light
Pug wins

DG ggclose

That's some seriousass trolling.

Had a game where a DDC insisted that we all camp in base on forest colony. Of course we didn't, as it's cretinous in the extreme.
He then refuses to go forward or do anything constructive in his 100 ton assault, besides "support" us with his single lrm 20.
All our assaults were lrm users. We had no one to tackle their 4 assaults and 4 heavies.....so you guessed it our lighter team gets mashed up whilst our assaults and the ddc in particular hide at the ack. It turns out that he gets 5 kills, counting to us sarcastically as he does so.
I had tried to explain to him earlier that because he's hiding, the smaller mechs are getting mashed trying to take on the enemy assaults. Because he wouldn't go forward it forced all of us to have to fight to try to stall them from rolling us. The sole reason he got his 5 kills was because of the rest of the team weakening his victims for him, but dying in the process.
The galling thing was he actually believed he was playing well. He ended up getting swarmed and dying like a rank amateur.

It's this sort of player that ruins the experience.

Doesn't sound like the same match, no.

>HPG manifold
>i'm just inside the theta entrance shooting
>behind me are a friendly battlemaster and jagermech, with more friendlies headed our way, less than 300m away
>enemy mechs start showing up one by one at both sides, getting shot at from both sides now
>wonder what the hell my backup is doing because i dont see the enemy mechs taking any fire at all other than from what im shooting
>look at the entrance, less than 100m away is the battlemaster, jagermech and a light mech just standing there, stationery, looking at me
>doing absolutely nothing but looking at me
>start to run out of theta because i can see they are either brain dead or trying to get me killed on purpose
>get legged just as i step into the archway
>look at minimap and wonder where the rest of the team is because they should have showed up here by now
>i am practically touching the battlemaster but hes still refusing to fire a single shot at the enemy mechs
>they took one huge circle to go to another entrance and are (finally) running into theta after i am legged, lost a side torso and am on orange internals
>the 4-5 enemy mechs that were shooting me decide to run away when the rest of my team shows up
>the three friendlies behind me dont fire a single shot till the enemy team has run off and they start to run through theta to get to the other side

The funny thing is this is totally legal, you can just sit there and watch your teammates get killed one by one and as long as you do some damage to them before/after they get wiped out, you are considered to be participating in the battle...

I don't think it's deliberate sometimes though matey.....I think sometimes peeps just get overwhelmed with multiple things happening at the same time. A friend of mine who plays WoW with me is an excellent hunter, crafty and clever in pvp but...put him under pressure with 3-4 targets and watch him start to struggle....
I feel that for some peope, a game like MWO can be overwhelming, we've all seen the player struggling to decide what to do-or the one that reacts poorly or has seeming tunnel vision.

The dangerous players are the ones who can stay cool, size the situation up instantly then ACT IMMEDIATELY. Anyone else is just fodder.
