No matter the whining, I am rather impressed by how well some MWO battles provide the experience of being a mechwarrior (as depicted in that Adam Steiner versus Jade Falcon cartoon).

1. At the ready screen, a clanner roleplays some clan talk, and gets replied with "LOL WUT ?"
2. Half the players are afk, slow to start, or outright disconnected.
3. AIRSTRIKES! and as often the case, just from one side.
4. After StCol Redmond figures the 5v3 battle is dishonorable, I imagine four of them hide in a cave and power down.
5. StCol Malthus has good aim, but he really just kind of stands there. Feels like the FedCom pilots ultimately lose by being astonishingly bad.

Ok, this last game pushed me over the edge. I don't care about name and shame policy anymore. I'm going to keep splashing this c***'s name until it's ingrained into people's psyche and he becomes an MWO meme, or I get ******* banned. I JUST DON'T CARE ANYMORE:

This piece of dog **** starts team attacking me out of nowhere and says, "we're even now." After the expected "WTF YOU *******" garden variety responses you'd expect from somebody in my spot, he explains how this one time (at band camp), a long, long time ago, in an MWO game far, far away in distant memory, I once said, "gg we lose" at the start of the match, and we actually did end up losing (we had disconnects, AFKs, and team killers all in ONE go, ffs....). I called out the inevitable.

This creepy, two bit ************* had taken a screenshot to remember my name and had held a baseless and psychotic grudge against me THIS ENTIRE GOD DAMN TIME. I hope to God, or whatever you reading this believes in, that this guy hasn't already done something sinister like killed some poor girl's kitten for rejecting him, but it wouldn't surprise me.

If you've ever seen the movie "Oldboy", this was the MWO version of it that I experienced. Obviously not to the degree in the film.

I'm going to say this scum bag's name again: Gandair. I'm going to copy-paste this post until **** gets real.

I've never seen a team try so hard to lose on purpose before. They deliberately avoided capping ANY points other than the one we started with.

That's wrong. No one deserves abuse like that, was it Jun?

Any way when us F8'ers duel we agree to the same tonnage, no jump jets, no arty strike, no air strike, and only 10 to 15 kms in speed difference . Our Centurion is the flagship mech and we usually use those. Or Hunchies.

Even when you lose to Mycrus or King, it feels like a totally fair MMA fight, and there are some great fights.

Recently, Jimmy T and Mycrus had a fantastic duel in Death Knells. The footwork and the counters. Just fantastic (I thought) to watch. (Link at F8L.co)

I gave up on assault in pugs. The concept is simply too hard.

On a sidenote, had a few good games tonight even good losses but last game of the day managed to sour all the fun. Absoloute lrmageddon on caustic. enemy team had at least 3 ecm mechs+ a very heavy assault laden team, nice.
Guess how many ecm mechs we had? NONE.
Hate how just one derp game like that can spoil the rest:)

One person made a comment about thinking about getting a Gold Mech. Everyone on my team immediately shamed and TK's him for even thinking it. Only person to not take part of it....Really? Are we so butt-hurt that now we mindlessly attack our own teammates because the guy was thinking about it? People like them make me regret being a fan of the franchise. I sometimes consider quitting the game because of the community. Not PGI....THE COMMUNITY. Let that soak for a while

Thing is as horrible as that seemed to you, spend a few moments thinking as to why people are butt hurt about it, or might be.
Personally I'd never TK a gold mech pilot but I sure as righty find it a disgusting display of wealth. If you want to support PGI and spend $500 there are other, less blatant ways to do it.
You buy something like that to get noticed, to parade it in front of other people. It harks back to the haves and have-nots. When you get that sort of thing, people are always going to be riled. It tends to remind people about their own position and financial "status."
The whole gold mech thing is an extremely poorly considered move from PGI.

Frankly I could have bought a few Gold Mechs easily but I didn't due the fact that it wasn't very tactical. However my views of it are this. Everyone needs to stop being so damn sensitive about players having Gold Mechs. If your gonna TK someone who has a Gold Mech because it reminds you of your financial situation then you better get another job, a raise, or a second. If someone puts that kind of cash down then that's teir own damn business. Who are we to tell other people what to do with their money and why should we punish them because they did? If they want to show themselves off with their gold plated Mechs then fine. WHOOP-DEE-F***ING-DOO! There is alwasy going to a show-off. In ether a game or at work or whatever. Be a F***in Adult and don't let it get to you. Worry about yourself. Not about the other guy.

It always has been, and always will be, the community that breaks or makes a game.

I have played "games" which were nothing more than people talking in forums, that I would have been willing (if able) to pay 500+ dollars to support.


I have played so called "AAA" titles, that I would not have payed 10 cents for.
Some of them because of the game itself.
Many of them because of the community.

I enjoyed my time in WoW, despite all the (many many) failings that game has, because the people I met in the game, made the game fun.

d5...the main enemy force is pushing, my team is falling lie flies...
I fall back to base in my Ember, cored out
spot a Banshee hiding in base, trying to snipe the enemy as our team of mostly lights and 2 heavies is getting obliterating
tell him to move up and draw fire so the others can live and focus down enemies
he says I'm stupid
I die, then he dies....game over
he then makes fun of my damage done...I inform him that we both had the exact same number of kills...ZERO
he disconnects....
