The Daily Whine

It may be commonly used, but it does not make it right. there are enough heavies and assaults as it is, the downsides are too few. A 97kph mech should not struggle to get past gun trail on a 100 tonner. Also note, I was not circle of deathing him. My speed simply was not sufficient even with angle manipulation and speed variance.
Where was his downside? What disadvantage did his mech have in this fight? None basically. Only difference was I could aim better. Bigger should not always mean better.
2nd whine of the day: being forced to Play vs House of Lords in group queue. Then being forced to endure taunts and a right good meta fuelled stomp.
Lovely.
When will people see that group queue is not the tournament queue?

Certainly worth the whine, but there's just no in-game reason not to strive for absolute badassery/cheese.
My whine right now: Some players on twitch streams are outright ragequitting... but the schadenfreude of the situation is ruined by knowing it's healthier to do that than to continue in the current frustrating circumstances.

what if the "ZOMG WE MUST WIN AT AL COSTS" mentality isn't what some consider "fun"

Can't truly separate bad sports/winning obsessed people out of the regular queues unfortunately, but you can control the size of the group they're in to a tolerable level...
PGI, bring back the way we used to play with Solo to 4 man lances. Solo players can opt in to this queue, and keep the 5+ companies fighting against each other with the option for 4 man lances to opt into the "Company" queue.
That fixes most of the problem. Solo/Lance/Company queues with opt ins to the next highest level but no going lower.

It was a friendly Stalker that was boating LRMs. My LRMs never even connected with the target. >.<

Oh My God.
If you don't like PUGs,
If you hate how disorganized your team is,
If you are so much better than the idiots in your lance/side,
If your ELO is clearly artificially low because you are leveling a bunch of new Mechs,
If you have such a problem with people playing badly, that you have to tell us,
Then
Stop
Solo
Queuing!!!!
I am so sick of these whiners bitching about how lousy their/our team is. YOU ARE IN THAT TEAM. You are--presumably--playing at your appropriate ELO. Everybody gets rolled. Everybody has flawless victories. There's little to no time to form a plan or respond to changes, via typing.
But most importantly, get the f**k out of my pug and go play with your awesome friends if you can't handle the ugly mess that is a PUG drop. Save all your whiny-ass bitching for this forum! Maybe that's why you PUG. No one could put up with your incessant complaining.
Ok, going back to play.
"Block User" cannot come soon enough.

BTW, do not expect "Block User" to keep you from playing with people in drop. PGI's not going that route... too complicated and petty. The best you'll be able to do is block their chat some day.
I should also mention that the group queue is broken, now wrecked with large groups hiding Elo mismatches. We need a return of the "Lance" queue that we traditionally knew to fix this.

So anti-climactic, but still an awesome comeback, so this is bittersweet whine.

Gosh, that would absolutely ruin the PUG cue again.
There is nothing more frustrating and lopsided than puging against a group of organised TS's.
Since they fixed the puging cue I have never had such balanced and well co-ordinated (by typing) missions. NEVER.
Please PGI don't modify it. Create a third cue if necessary.
Don't let the teams into the pug cue!

I know I'm not advocating it. I want 3 queues. Solo/Lance/Company. Allow opt in to the next one higher. Solves so many issues, eliminates the stupid "no groups of 11" and if you allow dropping short when 9+ against equal size you speed up matches even further.
Let the furiously adamant solo players have Derptown. Let the teams and tryhards take Stomptown. For the rational majority, return the 1-4 queue and split the difference.

One other player, a glimmer of hope, tosses one phrase out that smacks of an attempt at cooperation (which I'm a huge fan of). "Underneath" he says. I bite, since it's the closest thing to a cohesive strategy anyone is attempting to put together, and a handful of us silently follow him into the dark.
At first, it looks good. Only a few stragglers from Red Team peeking in, one at a time, and getting killed. My twin-UAC5/twin LL Jager is having a blast picking them off with my mute teammates, and the first, a Champion Atlas goes down. Kill number one. Next, a Nova with a yellow CT, which looks ripe for the "reddening" gets cored. Kill number two. Up top, it's the usual, a few people over here, a few over there. And one of ours goes down. One for them.
All of a sudden, we get rushed, and after a brief, but heroic struggle, overwhelmed and killed. Hey, it happens, and even though we died, we worked together for a time, fairly effectively. It was almost even, fun.
I type out "Man, wish I'd had time to type 'help underneath'", or something to that effect.
Egads! A response from someone on the team! "There's no reason to be underneath".
*blink blink*. (In my mind, I'm thinking "if more of us had gone, we'd have won this thing, but meh, whatevs sourpuss")
But I stay silent.
The rest of the team gets rolled, gloriously Rambo'ing all over the map. Scoreboard pops up.
There I am. Most kills, and tied for most damage, followed closely by the little group of us that went together to the place we weren't supposed to be or something.
But hey, I've been silent for this long, why stop now.
PUG-Life!

He still died mind, but I lost a leg. NO WAY should a 100 ton monster with all that armour AND firepower be able to do that.
I do this all the time in my assaults. It is called piloting. Even when lights are running away very often they think they are doing this crazy zig zag and really they are just moving a few meters left and right... very easy targeting.

Atlas had armour advantage, firepower advantage and survivability advantage-it's supposed to be slow and clumsy.
Stormcrow has 97kph speed at the time, and supposedly a massive agility advantage.
That massive agility is made pointless by assault's simple walk backwards and torso turn. I question the Atlas' speed and agility in that situation. I had no way to get past gun trail, in a mech that is massively faster and more agile. I have done similar in my Atlas' too. I am staggered by how easy it is to keep quicker mechs in gun trail.
And peeps wonder why there are so many heavies and assaults in the queue? I know you are trying to imply I played badly, but literally I had no way to get past him. At 97kph, my mech was too slow vs a 100 TON assault mech. The best I could do was spread damage and disrupt his aim, and make sure my shots went on target-which they did. I still beat a mech that outweighed me by 45 tons....so not that bad.

You were 1v1 against a mech that outweighed you by 45 tons and you came out ahead. What more do you actually want out of that scenario? Without a friendly or two to help, you simply aren't going to do any better than you did.

Why is it so easy? Don't the heavy/assault chassis have enough advantages already? My example implies I might as well always play an assault as I'd have comparable CQC agility with superior survivability. So where does that leave the medium?
Fighting a smaller, quicker mech should be very hard for something that size in close proximity-you should need good judgement and skills. Not merely walk backwards and torso twist lol.
I have killed meds myself in an Atlas doing exactly that-it's silly.
