Not really understanding the QQing about the MM and larger groups.

Wednesday i dropped with fellow Corsairs in groups of 4-9. We usually faced teams of 8-12 and our team was rounded out by pretty good grouped lances or solo pugs. We had very balanced matches.

Yesterday i dropped solo pug and ALWAYS landed in Alpha Lance... leading me to presume that there were no groups (or at least only 1 that was 3 or fewer players) on our team. And as far as i could tell i never faced any big bad groups either. I had a bunch of strong matches and was able to complete the elite on all my stormcrows.

I really doubt any solo pugs are facing boogey man groups for 20+ losses in a row... when i can't run into even one big group in 23 matches.

Illustration:

"Target...Gulf... range 350!" calls out Star Commander Novakane (all in CAPS...)
"Aye Nova, working on a solution!" I reply breathlessly. My target box and cross-hairs circling as I lock that inner-sphere traitor down!
"Gulf is locked! Missiles away!!!" I shreak in ecstatic glory!
'Thank God,' I think to myself,
'for the Artemis and C.A.P., these inner-sphere dogs are often so speedy and fleeting a target...but not this one, he's slow and juicy and I've got eyes on him!'

30 Clan LRM's with the new, supercooled, radar guided, semi active homing warheads thunder from my launchers with an ear splitting roar heard 500m away through six inches of Clan Ferro Fibrous Armour!
How I love it!
The bounty that the Star Commander posted yesterday for every mech destroyed will soon pay from my new modules...

In shock and disbelief I watch my missiles waterfall into the ground where big, slow and juicy had been standing 2 seconds earlier.

The return fire is unbelievable...my left arm is sheared off while the rest of my torso is cooked by a series of laser strikes...

What the hell? Every time I lock a new target the first salvo drills into the ground! It doesn't matter if I am IS or Clan.

That is my whine.

Yep - hard not to fire the instant the lock seems to be acquired. I do the "one-thousand and 1" and then fire - lock is good. Maybe they'll fix this bug, too.

My daily whine is actually getting a "for the lulz" team killer coring me from behind the instant we spawn last night. But the next match he pops up again, starts legging me - but is instantly destroyed before he can really damage anyone else. What kind of ****** do you have to be to get your jollies by doing that?

are people starting to put almost all their torso armor to the rear these days?

In two different matches today...

one, I put 56 pts of damage to the rear CT of an atlas and the other 112 pts of damage to the rear ct of a warhawk....both lived with only yellow internals

Pretty sure small groups are getting taken mostly in the group queue. While the single big group does get matched against several smalls from time to time, I suspect time of day has a ton to do with that.

Some people do, some people do not - Koniving for one, tends to run (relatively) insane amounts of armor on the rear of his Stalkers.

Really aggravating when you are expecting the usual paper-thin rear armor though.

Clearly pgi's attempt to make the minimum range for clan lrms work.

My whine is I'm getting ten time more enjoyment out of bitching on this thread and read about others bitching than playing the game right now

Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate2

(not to be confused with Baldur's Gate:DA, which had absolutely nothing to do with the others - rather like Mechassault compares to Mechwarrior)

I'm glad your experience has been different from mine.Dropping in less than a 5+ has basically been us fed to a larger meatgrinder nearly every game. It basically feels like your regular 4 man in a pug group vs a 12 man...
Oddly, we won every game where the teams were BOTH comprised of smaller groups....but against 8+ not doing so well....have yet to try solo queue....

our experience has been different from yours. 2 man usually great, 3 man always bad, 4-10 we've had very good games winning maybe 60% of them.

Turns out I could just be a good luck charm. Seems every time I log in I hear my team griping that they've been on a losing streak. A couple matches with me and the wins, money, women, fame and champaign are flowing!
