lol yes! I do it to my buddy in Battlefield all the time. He likes running recon and sniping so when I want to annoy him I'll sneak up behind him with my LMG as a support guy and lay down a bunch of shots giving away his position lol Good times!

Did you not know we're vacationing on some island? It's a nice place!

The island also has MW:LL

Go back and play it with the rest of us! (Seriously, after going back to Living Legends, MW:O is atrociously bad in comparison)

lol it's funny how all of PGI's decisions are based on "new and low level players having more fun" yet the LRM buff (straight from Paul) didn't hamper them, the top 1% were the ones having problems adjusting.

I don't understand the context of your statement...?

(if directed at me then)

I don't know what you're talking about. I've stopped playing a while before any recent LRM changes occured. Also, MW:LL, too has missiles?

(if something else then)

Paul also is clueless, so I don't expect any 5 minute change he made to missile speed to make game saving changes. Missile speed is the least of missile concerns in mwo.

No, it's directed at PGI.
They claim in one breath to have "changed their position on group sizes" because it hampers casual and new players
yet
In the next breath, they claim that the only ones having a problem adjusting to the new LRM buff were the top tier players which is about 1-2% of the entire population.

In other words they're full of crap.

Every time the team falls back to the turrets on assault mode I'm tempted to say "Run! Get to the chopper!"

Speaking as someone who only PUGs I can't see the game surviving if they don't allow any size group queues with opting in PUGs as fillers. Roll on lobbies.

This is indeed painfully obvious.

Sand come play with us on MW:LL! A few good outings and you'll get an actual feel of how MechWarrior Btech should feel! The weapons/ equipment, sounds, SPLOSIONS, play style, etc. all feels much better.

(Just don't tell PGI you're playing that other better cry engine MechWarrior game or they might cease and desist it again)

lol I've played Btech for 3 decades

I Don't have it and can't afford to get it at the moment with the other games I've purchased ad backed along with the new computer and a roadtrip coming up lol

I've been having fun with war thunder though and still play MWO but that's more to do with enjoying the people I play with than them game itself at the moment

Well, considering that I have been playing only solo since the very beginning, thanks for the compliment.

Seriously, though, whenever the PUG team I was in got stomped, I didn't go to the forums to complain and join the "I got stomped, MM is bad, and PGI sucks" bandwagon. I just licked my wounds and went back for more. Now if only more players did the same.

So you ignored the real problem, and then harassed the ones that tried to address it?

If more people just sat by, nothing would ever get fixed.

I'm glad more people don't "do the same"

no
he's saying he didnt' blame everyone and everything but himself and his team for a loss.

In other words he didn't blame getting stomped on
Premades
LRMs
ACs
PPCs
MM
Elo

I could go on but you get the point.

Huh?

To be explicitly clear, I blamed only myself (and my team) for the loss.

but that would mean that a lot of the ones blaming things like evil premades, weapon balance, etc. were wrong and what they SHOULD blame were their poor tactics, mechs, strategy, etc.

it's ridiculous to expect players to BUY premium time, not earn any rewards, not participate in CW,

This. I won't.

CW may be enough to keep me long term, but at this point I find myself playing less and less. It's getting easier to just sit on my ass and watch TV, or you know, spend some time with these people who live here and keep saying I am their husband/father....whatever that's all about....

There is an all in one installer for MW:LL that does not require the purchase of crysis wars or crysis warhead

also, a lot of people I play MW:LL with also play war thunder a lot. Also a good game

I've been reading an interesting paper about WoW and groups.

http://www.nickyee.c...er%20(2006).pdf

It has some interesting points.

1. Playing in a group is much more inefficient than dropping solo. Anyone who plays 12 man, or even 4 man would agree with this.
2. The average guild size is 14.5. Thus the difficulty in getting 12 man groups together in MW:O. In WoW 90% of groups are 35 members or less- will MW:O be any better?
3. People in groups play more than people who don't.
4. 66% of players are in a guild, 90% at levels over 43. Basically, once there is content that needs grouping (such as CW might provide), players will want to group up.

The issue is, how to split those two and allow teams to drop and pugs to drop and pugs who want to drop with teams to do so, those who don't can avoid it.

That simple.

Allow 5-8man premades. If odd numbers are a problem only allow 6man and 8man. You can always tell the new guy to wait for one more player. But you can not tell him to wait for SEVEN other players!

4player limit directly dries out the 12man queue!

Simply balance premades by number, size and even weightclass! With 6players it is absolutely ok to ask for 1-2-2-1 weight class distribution, as it is very likely that so much players have the right mechs at hand.

You could go even further and ask every player of a 6man or 8man group to select more than one mech to drop with to make the job easier for the MM to find a fitting game.

Fact is we have no evidence that 5+ premades are causing a bad gaming experience!

Fact is we only know NOT BALANCING premades on both teams is causing a bad gaming experience! (And that really is a nobrainer... :) )

if PGI's numbers are correct then there is a LOT of people playing MW:O. So why did PGI feel the need to extend the search range of the MM? You would think there would be more than enough people at all Elo levels that they could actually shrink the Elo parameters.

They extended it because of low player retention; people find MWO while trawling the F2P market and give it a try... it looks great for F2P, it feels stompy and fun... then they run out of cadet bonus, buy an unoptimized mech they don't understand, try to kit it out with guns they know and colours they like... and discover that EVERYTHING is foolishly priced for a F2P game... they are annoyed.

They drop in their new mech, its slow and overheats fast... they ask why... "get doubleheat sinks noob! lol!"... they discover that the DHS Tax is 1.5 million and notice they made 40k from their last loss... they play three more games in a trial mech, get bored, go back to trawling the F2P market.

This is the 'target market' PGI has courted.
