I guess CW is heavily overestimated in terms of attraction and fun. I would expect as poorly implemented first round, which will also discard players. MWO is all the time wainting for this and for that and everyone puts endless hope into it.

As much as I hate to say it, polish and finish the base game before adding something like CW that requires proper balance.

1) better gamemodes- the gamemodes we have now are simply not fun or engaging. The outcome of most games feels like its entirely random. A lot of this is due to poor matchmaking but also because the gamemodes are quite frankly bland and don't really allow for one or two people to alter the outcome of the game. And certainly you dont get rewarded properly for having a high match score even when your team loses.
2) role warfare- different weight classes need different roles, all of which should be crucial to winning. furthermore mechs/variants need to be differentiated better by expanding their roles and giving them unique skills/quirks. All the different mechs/variants we have are just same or worse versions of other mechs... For example, theres nothing that really makes a Thunderbolt anymore appealing than a Jagermech.
3) general improvements to the UI and game- just the little things that aggravate players like the horribly overcomplicated UI, the lack of a proper mech lab, and having to look up what an achivement is after earning it. Or in conquest not having the kills displayed at the top of the screen, or having chat/kills be color-coded red/blue to tell whos on what team, or having the nav waypoint letters listed on the navbar. All these little things add up and just make the game frustrating and unintuitive for users. And most of these are industry standard features that every other game but MWO has.

We need something to do in this game other than grinding xp and C-bills, then you can polish as long as you would like! :-D

They can always leave the clans out of community warfare until next year. It would cut down on the work load for CW, and allow PGI to put more focus on the clans as a whole.

Attend/Defend mode is the only thing on the table.

The clans aren't 'invading' squat right now: they need a galaxy to give them context. They need community warfare else they're just another shiny mech injection.
Community warfare provides an arguably massive incentive for former players to come back and could be an effective salve to stem the current player leak (I myself came back not long ago and very nearly left until I heard that CW is still being worked on and they seem to mean it this time).
