Seriously. Might be the WORST Hero designed yet.

It does have a pretty paintjob though.

Seem like the anti-Ember.

(Ember was an amazingly well designed Hero with an amazingly poorly designed paint scheme. The Huginn is pretty much a horribly thought out and designed Hero, with an amazingly cool paint scheme. Whatupwitdat?)

I don't know about that. The design is really only awful because we're stuck between 0.5 ton MGs, which suck for Light mechs (can't afford to get too close to targets unless they're mechanically broken - see Spider and Firestarter), and AC2s. You can't afford to invest too much weight into ballistics and, even if you could, you're going to go insanely slow for very little impact. The AC2 is only good in multiples and even that is debatable.

We desperately need the Mech Mortar or something cause anything under 50 tons is dying horribly due to being taxed by the limitations of ballistic options.

4 kills and 723 damage? I'm slowly becoming a fan of the worst hero ever.

Now, I'm going to ask you to be as honest as possible, Khajja. How much of that was "good damage" vs. wasted damage? AC2s tend to be a lot of spray and pray in a bad way.

A centerline energy slot or ECM would do this mech wonders. If it added both then it would be really cool.

I don't expect Hero mechs to be way superior to regular mechs. They are supposed to offer an alternative to the standard load outs that the existing mechs of the type have. However they should all be competitive. While I think a good pilot can make any mech work and often times it is the pilot who is the problem rather than the mech, it still would help if some mechs were revisited.

I rarely aim for legs or arms with 2's and a good deal of that was spent in blowing out assault STs. I agree that the kills are low for the dmg but with the resurgence of missile use my % in finishing is wayy down. So many helpful folks "securing" my kills for me :)

At least the Huginn has a symmetrical hardpoint layout :).

Not their fault your papercut cannons take too long. Some of us wanna kill and move one, so less of them are shooting back! ;)

Mmm thats not a phenomena exclusive to this mech though. Been noticing quite a few buzzards hanging in range with no intent to help or engage until they can secure a coup de grace. Rather obnoxious but thats another argument entirely

Heh, half the time when I do run LRMs, I feel it's the other way around. I pound em mercilessly for hundreds of damage, and some yutz with an ac20 or PPC grabs the kill, lol!

Hehe you know what they say about green grass

As for Huginn...Holy hell did this thing improve with speed tweak. Went back to 4mgs + Srm4s for ammo purposes, tuned the armor a bit and wolfpacked with some buddys in 3Ls. Shes a nice little sweeper and a helluva lot of fun when the team actually presses the fight

i have had a few good matches with SRM6s, but yeah, ammo goes REAL fast like. Might try it with the 4s again. Problem is now I need the other ravens to unlock it, since I haven't had em since Closed Beta stat wipes.

In my opinion PGI missed the ball on this one. I know that MGs can be deadly if used right, but I was really wanting a jump capable Raven 3L. There are currently no hero mechs that have ECM and I thought for sure the Raven 3L was ripe for a hero version. I know some people are having fun with it, but I will not pay real money for a mech that doesn't give any real benefit over the c-bill versions. PGI has so far done a good job of avoiding pay to win status, but I do feel that they have gone too far in the other direction in this case. An ECM hero light mech with JJ would not be p2w because you have 2 f2p light ecm mechs, one of which has JJ's too. Adding the ecm Cicada to that count makes even more f2p options for the same fast/ecm harraser role.

So far I have only bought 1 hero mech and that was after months of considering it. I bought a jester because I was willing to give up the ballistic hard points to get even 2 JJ's added to the catapult k2. For me to consider buying a hero mech, the chasis would have to offer me something that was not only unique, but also useful. In my opinion the Huginn frame is neither truly unique or useful.

So in short I REALLY wanted to buy a hero Raven, but the Huginn is not what I expected.

I suppose the real question is are you going for the similar play of the 4x or the energy heavy 2x?
