Rage and Disdain for team players

Your post if full of assumptions and ghost stories. The Pugs are the usual Stompers. Only when 2 "4 mans" are on either side can you see a full on lance smash.

I can understand your logic to an extent and as such I would advocate a Solo Only que as well as a Team of Any size que.

The simple metric will avoid any solo claims of pug stomping while allowing people to play together and proud solo players to drop in to "test their might".

All parties would be satisfied. I don't see how this simple idea has escaped PGI.

And youre missing the point. The point is the game should not require you to join a premade to experience "deeper play"

Solo player should get the same advantages as premades. That means in game voice and being able to see their allies loadouts.

having in game VoIP and being able to see their loadouts will still not match a true teams ability to know their team mates mannerisms and fighting style without the effort of dropping with them game after game after game after Beers!

I hate to say this cuss word.. But the original CoD was top pfs for damn near a decade due to online communities expanding it with privately made maps, mods, and social interaction. "Multiplayer" games strive due to the social aspects and why little focus is now placed on single player. Hell this game and others don't even bother with single player.

Forcing solo drops is basically single player with allot of players doing worse than an AI would.

This has to be the first "team" game ever invented that makes it next to impossible to build a team.

So much truth in this.
Without much of a tie to the rest of my team beyond those I'm on TeamSpeak with, I often find myself looking at the other 20 players as "content"
But at least an AI doesn't shoot medium lasers past 540m or LRMs under 180m

I got a little side tracked and I started to mix rants.

The team aspect is a singular issue already addressed. When I speak of depth of game-play, I'm more so referencing PGI's avoidance of play mechanics that would encourage consequences for actions or inaction. They've effectively put up a wall between the tapestry that is the BT universe and boiled the rest down to some watery pastel that barely pas homage to the actual IP.

It would be nice if they gave teams more tools. It would also, be great if they gave solo players tools to better communicate with other solo players as well. Any kind of communication and teamwork go a very long way in this game. Be it, in a group or solo.

Well stated. We need the tools so everyone can play together.

I have to say, this game is much more fun with a group. Running a four man gives me confidence that, if nothing else, I have three people who will stay and fight with me while the puggies break into full retreat the first time someone shoots in their general direction.

I think that's the greatest benefit to playing in a group. Having people who will stay by you and fight and die, even if they could live by fleeing. Running solo drops is so dismal in game now with brawling in such a sorry state. Puggies just don't have any spine and without a strong group element, I wouldn't be playing this game.

I'm starting to see a whole lot of "If we can't give the solo players X, then we should prohibit the group players from having Y" but if Y is required for group play, you begin alienating the group players, which has been proven time and again, are the cash cow for a games longevity.

This game does cater to the solo player with group restrictions. For obvious reasons. That has already happened.
"if we can't give the solo players x" there is nothing you can't give the solo players to allow groups of any size.

It seems players who only group and use TS are blaming solo players for group restrictions. They should really blame pgi for not creating a solution. Give the tools in game, taking away all argument for why premades are better and need to be restricted and why solo players can't group. With voip in game you're basically forceing solo players to be in a premade, adding no addtional effort or time to that player, and the premade boogieman is gone.

My first drop with the Law made me a believer when Banichi keyed up and announced, "You go ahead and cover Killdozer, I got your back!"

I was a missile boat Atlas and Dozer was 500m away behind cover. Banichi was a fast brawler Hunchback! We kicked Ash.

At no point. Because its not about catering to solo players. Its about leveling the playing field so solo players get all the same advantages as group players.

If "Y" gives groups an advantage over solo players: they shouldnt get "Y", or solo players should get "Y" too. Simple as that. Same goes for solo players: if "X" gives them an advantage over group players, they SHOULDNT get "X", or groups should get "X" too. Both should be equal. Its common sense, its not rocket science, and it really shouldnt be that hard for PGI to figure out they need to add VOIP.

After community warfare/clans are released and clan tech is reasonably balanced (lolz), PGI needs to devote a good three to six months on VOIP, macros, and a better command interface. We also need some role warfare modules that help commanders/scouts designate priority targets for their team.

If "Y" gives groups an advantage over solo players they SHOULDNT have it. Simple as that. Same goes for solo players if "X" gives them an advantage over group players they SHOULDNT have it. Both should be equal.

But Solo Playes won't use the advantages groups use. The most powerful advantage is we game together for days on end, and we know how to cover each others weak spots!

Eventually I found kindred souls in the FWL and more specifically in the Redmoon Angles...

Redmoon Angles? Are you the hypotenuse or the tangent? What degree of Angle are you? Do you have to solve quadratic equations to get in? Inquiring smartass minds want to know.

Back to the post, there are more than enough team speak channels around to get a group. Go to the Comstar or No Guts No Galaxy channels. The latter has a website with the info on it. If you're too lazy to do the search, then you've got no room to complain about anything. So, DaZur is correct.

Posts about joining a team and using third party comms are true, and very informative to the uninformed new player, but it still does not excuse not having comms in game. Comms make a drastic difference to be able to quickly coordinate. There really is no argument against that. This is the main imbalance issue in my mind.

Yes, this is the main reason I refuse all offers to join groups. Until there are in-game comms for PUGs, I would feel dirty doing so.

Is your base of operations the Compound Angle?
