I really thought tha Pug was the short for Pick Up Group.

And Fatlas is not for an Altas because its fat. Fatlas is for Founders Atlas.

Maybe i´m wrong all the time.

You are correct for the PUG definition.

I've always thought Fatlas was not for Founders Atlas, but for an Atlas that "is slow, and is IN MY WAY!!!!" kind of a statement... (But I am not certain here.)

I used to think like that - but have had a lot of founders tell me that the F is for founder
(as I had never heard the term before MWO, I am inclined to believe them)

PING (acronym): a Players Integrative Negative Gravity, believed by some to have a dilatory affect on said player's HSR. If your "PING" is within a good range, you hit. If not, you don't. See also, "YMMV" and "Random Hit Generator (RHG)"; archaic: D&D Dice Rolls; "RNG"

Talk about old school... reminds me of the old "Wandering Damage Chart". Forget the monster, you just get hurt for a random reason. Seered into my memory is this gem:

Take 3d10 from smoke inhalation as your nosehair spontaneously combusts.

You mean:
Spoiler

Also - do we have anything about River City?...

I'm not sure what I'd even call it, but the infuriating attitude of players to sit at their base and wait to die, resulting in a 12/0 or maybe 21/2 at best wipeout.

Even when 1+ people are trying to tell them how to win, and they specifically ignore it.

Everyone knows that twelve mechs going through "THAT" tunnel will be a glorious victory.

Yes. When spectating through any sniper mech would be all thermal, all the time, in full Predator glory. As mechs approached their heat threshold, they turned hotter (visibly in thermal), and shut-down or destroyed mechs cooled way down. There was a useful color gradient at work.

Also known as OP-vision.

I miss it.

  • "Plan?" (inquiry) - If followed by a stretch of silence, a fool-proof sign that your team is about to get obliterated and that the person asking the question will die first, having done 50 or less damage. If followed by snark, a sign that your team will scatter to the winds and lose 12 to 2. If followed by an actual plan, a sure-sign that no one will follow it.

I know when to terminate myself and find a new PUG.

Do take his post with a good healthy dose of humor. Even he says this is as much a humor based post as it is serious, as the humor sadly says a truth in it.

Plan?

...uh,not die?

usually see that one alot. But you are right about the plan part. About 1 in 100 actually work out when there ends up being one.

But that one is really worth it in the end.

Four Winds Formation - The even distribution of mechs across all the map grids so they can be easily murdered one by one.

Your wrong about the meta part. Small lasers were part of the meta a while back. :)

This is a haphazard guide slapped together mostly out of sheer amusement. But buried within these near self-mocking words hopefully lies a kernal of truth that can be used to help guide you, the new player, away from frustrating and mind-numbing feats of sheer newbishness.

Actually downloaded and installed this game 4 days ago and have seen everything listed demonstrated multiple times on different maps. OMG after reading this I was laughing so hard I had to give it a minute so I could type this in.
On a more serious note when the above things happen you either beat your head on the desk or want to shoot your "team-mates" because that will be doing the world a favor at times, or both! LOL

Obviously you've never played with one of my plans in place. Posted Image

Hey, welcome to the game! Hope you're enjoying it. All the crazy listed above just gives it flavor. =)
