If you really want to grate your balls against something, try out this bad boy:

AWS-8Q

3 PPCs, 1 small laser.

How well does this build play???

Well.

In Closed Beta it was horrible because of SHS and well, PPCs splashed their damage all over the place (funny how the Devs used to say "working as intended" and half the forums swore they were uber effective...yet Nobody used them back them......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)

Today both of those issues are solved....except of course GH went and unsolved the heat issue. And of course, with a more "evolved" crowd and selection of mechs, the 8Qs egregious hitboxes mean LoS light fights are usually not recommended. It works OK against newbs and inferior opponents, but you really got your work cut out for you against pretty much any halfway decent mech and pilot.

BLR-1D Silver mountain

Voila! new goal set! number 5 for my garage! Now i need to get the 2 new battlemaster variants next week to bring up a total of 7 battlemasters in my arsenel!

My 3D is a favorite non meta for me... without looking to be exact, it is generally like the above. Little warm for some people but works well for me.

Is it?! Well fail for me.

I thought ppc and ac5/ uac5 was the current trend.

single JJ is about the only thing "meta" on that build. AC10s have been out of meta for quite some time.

I like the ac10's, even though they where nerfed with projectile speed decrease. Just sucks to not be able to pair them with much else since the point of aim is so much different.

I do not pop tart so I pretty much never carry more than 1 or 2 JJ. I know that is terrible for the people who love JJ but I use it for twist and mobility to hill climb.

Very true!

Slight correction, looks like I run a XL300 right now on my 3D to add back AMS and another couple dhs.

I have 5 mechs.
Raven-3L, Stalker-3F, Catapult-K2, Catapult-C1, and Jagermech-S.
They all have stock weapons. Does that count as non-meta? :o

HEAVY METAL

More damage then god himself, and only has heat issues on Terrable Therma and Tor. 3LPL and a Gauss, I can brawl AND snipe all at the same time, with SRMs to boot and a JJ that lets me get over annoying obstacles. I have featured this build many times, its a Meta killer and will down any Meta Mech that dares to cross its path. It has the Alpha and Omega (DPS) in each arm with the hybrid in the torso (SRMs).

I have had many multi kill games (5+), and quite a few 1k damage games. Pre Stat nerf, I had over 400 games in this mech, with a peak KDR of 2.90 and settling at a KDR of 2.25.

I'm leveling up the Banshee's and so far liking my "fast" Banshee BNC-3M
BNC-3Melter
I'm not going to lie and say this owns the meta mechs (especially the ggclose, lorddirtbag douches) but it can catch you off guard and 2 alphas are pretty melty both for you and for me.

Although lights arent generally "meta abusers" I like to pretend they are when I wreck them in my 140KPH Trebuchet.

DHS 1.4 and Ghost Heat working as intended.

I have quite a few actually.

Mediums

HBK-4P - Fast at 92kph, It's a deadly skirmisher against any sized target. AMS keeps you in the fight longer especially since the LRM buff. This is probably the most enjoyable hunchie to play when mastered.

HBK-4SP -"Crab" Band-Aid to fix my addiction problems to seafood.
HBK-4SP - Classic 4SP with a few modifications.

HBK-4G - 82KPH AC20. Standard 230.
HBK-4G - 71KHP AC20. Stock engine.

Heavies
Firebrand - Faux "Rifleman"

Assaults

STK-5M - Post ghost heat modernization of the splatter Stalker.

STK-3F - Classic Brawler. Chain firing SRM's is a pain in the ass especially with the bay doors
STK-3F - Multi range SRM6 loadout. More flexible and cooler version of the above. My preferred 3F loadout right now.
STK-3F - Multi range LRM10 loadout. LRM's instead of the SRM's.
STK-3F - Laserboat. Ghost heat made it trickier to use but it's still decent classic loadout. The Large Laser ghost heat threshhold should be increased

VTR-9S - Even though the Victor is meta as hell I still enjoy this non meta loadout alot

AS7-DDC - Fast moving lance commander. I pretty much only use this in 4 Atlas lances.
AS7-DDC - Slow moving UAC boat. PPC's are a little unreliable on the D-DC since you have to rely on SRM's or the Autocannon for close range defense

AS7-D - Fast moving Classic brawler.

AWS-8Q - PPC Tabletop upgrade. 61kph
AWS-8Q - Large Pulse version.

I only have a couple of go-to variants but this one is my favorite.

GRF-1N - ER LLAS for range, pair of mediums for mid-range. The trio of lasers can go for a while without overheat, so they are your primary ranged damage. What really racks up the kills, however, is the trio of Artemis'd SRM-6's. Wait until mid-game and start hunting for damaged or solo targets.
