I can't remember where I read it, but I thought the plan was to give Clan Mechs rounder, sleeker armour. It seems that went out the Window for a blockier look and makes it look too similar to IS Mechs. The concept art for the special Timberwolf seemed closest to what I expected for Clan mechs. I really think Clan Mechs should get sleeker armour to set them apart from the IS. Glad i didn't go full board and buy top tier package. Patience is really the key here. Let's see if PGI can sort this out.

...and dem legs!

I can't see it from the inside, so not sure I care if it's ugly. I do hope it doesn't have enormous side torso so the 375 XL is a waste of time.

I will appreciate the living s**t out of having Clan DHS and ER ML.

The real question is will there be enough IS left to fight off the Clan or do we all switch sides at once and sink the boat?

The nose is half as long as a traditional timber wolf, which means it'll be harder to hit that CT from the side. Missile bays mean an easy shot on side torsos unless the missiles get their own separate hitbox. The legs used to be around half of a TW's silhouette, now they're about 60%

I think the legs need to be smaller, besides that it looks good.

I can't wait to blow up the bulbous extrusion of a cockpit off all the Timberwolves I encounter ...

Cant wait till you get smoked cause think the hit boxes will be like Catapults. Even if they are, TW has the fire power to back itself up.

I think if the angle on the top part of the leg were opened up a bit more it would look a LOT more like a Timberwolf.

a little lanky, and i dont much like having one of the machineguns on the chin (why isnt it side cockpit like the other one?) but other than that, looks great.

Like it or not, that is the actual, canon configuration for a MadCat Prime. I have never understood why they made the stats lopsided like that when their image showed a symetrical design, and always wished that was just some typo, but they never published any errata that fixed that into something that made sense with the picture they attached it to. Now we're getting a 'mech that matches the stats of the actual machine.

This looks a thousand times better than the screenshot. I can´t understand why they didn´t stick to this great concept art.
The screenshot version is way to blocky and proportions are off.

The screenshot is at a different angle. We're looking at it from below instead of at cockpit height. However...

i think its ugly. They turned the timberwolf into a humanoid style mech. Its basically a phract with a shoulder launchers and a swollen chest wart for a cockpit + huge over proportioned lower body and legs. I like mine way better.

I think its fine, probably just a weird angle. Though I'm curious how the hitboxes will work out for it and whether they will have separate boxes for the missiles.

It won't die from losing a side torso.

Seems I had myself slightly mixed up with the Mad Dog when I thought of double fork legs. Still, two end to end blocks sls Cataphract is pretty lame. The Classic look has a sort of
l
 l
shape, which is very distinctive. Plus the blockiness complaints about the torso up are getting to me. Besides that the torso and so are mostly okay imo.

It's not about foreshortening or perspective. It's that they are blocky/flat instead of rounded. Look at the legs of the concept art:

Posted Image

They have stated several times before that "round" is very difficult to implement compared to "fake round" (i.e. many flat edges at different angles). The angle is the biggest issue, though. Take a look at the in-game model they used for the home page slide:

Posted Image

I wouldn't be opposed to a little tweaking here or there, but that is one SEXY mech!

My biggest complaint is that they made the ERLLs and MLs look exactly the same, but that is an issue across all mechs, not just this one.

Yes, please implement this so EVERY torso hit is on the cockpit.... I like the arm pods and the feet, but that is about it, sorry. (better than I could do, so don't take it personally)

That looks much better also by virtue of its legs not seeming over long and more bent. But also, youd think flipping TESSELLATION would be working by now. Theres no excuse for not having some more polygons to round a surface. This is 2014 for tripes sake. Dont point to IGPUs either, thats what a "low" setting is for, PGI.

If anything, methinks PGI just sucks at making glam-shots most of the time. They might as well get good ol' Lordred from the screenshot thread to do it.

other than that, the render looks kinda like this fan art (can't imbed pics cause I don't know how :/ ): deviantart.com/art/Mechwarrior-Timber-Wolf-267839102
