i agree that this game needs cash injections to survive and yes PGI is a business and they have to make money... but $500 for a gold skin is crazy! if it was $50 MAYBE $75 above the price of the masakari package then it would be tempting but an additional $250 is like a smack in the face.

It's IGP who's to blame for this failure in marketing, and they could have done it in such a good way if only they had thought about it some more beforehand!

How this does sound:

Clan Golden Game Supporter Collections

For each released Clan mech type there will be 50 unique golden variants packages released for $500

These will get you the full Masakari package as well as a unique golden camo version of the mech of your choice. This mech comes with a unique module that will do X (specific description).

Everyone who buys one of these packages will have their pilotname displayed on the webpage (special page showing the 50 slots for each mechs and how many have been taken by whom) and gets featured in the credits. Pilots have the option to remain anonymous if they wish.

Boom. You're honest about it being a support thing. You're honest about the amount of mechs available and actually make them a limited product by setting that limit beforehand in a clear manner, the only way to do so for a digital product, you can make people feel really good about buying them.
Sure there would still be people who will scoff at those who go for the support packages, but they probably scoff at the Founders and Phoenix players as well. LOLwhybuyif FTP!!11!Lololol

I still wouldn't have bought it, I can't afford it, can't justify it to myself, but damn that would sure have been something far more positive don't you guys think?

Frankly the way PGI has always been and still is gives me the chills thinking about CW

it'll probably be what cockpit glass was supposed to be when it was first mentioned:

cockpit glass was supposed to be part of the damage effect, more damage -> more fractures on the glass, maybe even some air venting out on maps like Manifold

now its just dirt sitting on the glass

CW is probably going to be pushed back a little time again cuz of some small bug, but they want it to be perfect

It's hard to know if it's really exclusive if you're never told how many exist. Artists do this all the time with limited run prints.

Without knowing the numbers this also feels like a shady infomercial money grab.

Almost, but then again they are supposed to be mistaken for Catapults and Marauders by IS targeting computers. So it should look like Catapult legs.
