Only one thing to mention out of that.
PGI isn't in control of the prices. They have a publisher. The publisher legally owns and controls everything that has to do with the monopolization of the game. So while Russ looks the part (he really does), IGP has everything to do with how the prices are controlled and PGI has simply 'input'. Listen to Mechs Devs and Beer 15 under Community up above.

Supposedly, certain PGI employees didn't even know about it until bam, it's on the front page.

Wonder how much it is to buy the publishers out. That would be a better use of everyone's Clan Package money.

Truth be told, IGP is Smith & Tinker + 'others'.

Smith & Tinker being the original FASA, being the original Battletech Creators. My issue is it's not Jordan designing the game as PGI negotiated sole control over MWO itself.

MWTactics, while not the most interesting game in the world to watch, is incredibly balanced and has many of the mech customization options that we've been begging for in MWO for 2 years. Hardpoint size restrictions. Ability to slap an AC/2 on a Jenner (I LOVED it when I first saw it). Weapon variants (so I could switch between Diverse Optics and the Blankenburg Medium Lasers if I want). And heat matters with a 30 threshold, so while you can fire all your weapons in a single turn (to fire one at a time over 10 seconds), the game never allows an alpha strike. Not to mention ACs are fully automatic weapons that still do only their rated damage in 10 seconds (and not 38 damage for a pre-nerf AC/2 in 10 in MWO).

But standing over that developer is IGP, dictating how the game should be.

Here, the closest you get to IGP trying to dictate anything is NGNG saying "I think this would be cool. We like Homeless Bill's idea." and PGI saying "No."

Note that NGNG is a podcast that works for IGP. It uses the kickbacks and sales from Amazon and its site to fund the comic artists, music artists, and youtube shows like AllSystemsNominal.

It would explain quite a bit. If they were 'true mechcommanders', this site would have been up long before MWO. Plus to my buddy I call it the Propaganda radio for MWO.

The way I see it.. anyone that spends $500 for a gold mech in a 2nd rate game needs to be shot on site.. even their own team mates need to unload on them.

I stated this before and I will state it again, PGI is doing things like this because they genuinely believe that selling at a higher price point is better than selling at a higher volume. This is the pinnacle of their research, and it's so wrong it's laughable.

I think Steam sales have more than proven that if you drop the price low enough, the increase in sales volume will far exceed the drop in price. I forget the exact numbers, but they basically found that if you charge $5 for a $40 game, you'll sell far more than 8 times as many.

But, PGI doesn't take that approach, and while I think it's dumb, it's not my decision to make.

Honestly, I don't understand all the hate towards people that are willing to drop $500 on the game. If you think the game is second rate and not worth the money, don't spend it. But griefing people that do think the game is worth it is just dumb. It doesn't accomplish anything.

Well, they said there were less than 50. Perhaps it was only 1.

I thought it was strange that all of those Gold Mechs were sold and no movement on the Social Rewards ...

You mean how it went from 90% completed on Phase 2 on Friday to how it is 5% on Phase 3 now? Oh wait....

What i think would be interesting but very unlikely would be if when the clan sale is over and they haven't sold all of their gold mechs they give them to people who have bought mech packages heroes paint and other pay for items, they are for the most loyal customers right.

The conspiracy theory is not yet complete! They will have to not release any more for me to believe they were limited (although at this point I've moved from 'doubt it' to 'plausible!'). ie. no "we are releasing 10 more due to popular demand! type sale".

Either way, they made over $25,000 in gold timberwolves alone. Good. Hopefully they make enough money so the game keeps running. Kickstarter v3 'the clans' appears to be going well.

Won't let me grab one either - and there is "less than 50" on all but the 3 lightest.

Your comparing Apples to Oranges there.

MW:T is the Table Top 3025 game, basically as if the game just launched. Same rules and flow just like as if you were playing the TT. The Card Aspect is just a way to "collect" or salvage enemy mechs/weapons ect.

MW:O is a FIRST PERSON (not lance based) game BASED on Battletech and is set in the year 3050. TT is setup to be with multiple mechs controlled by one "person" (you), hence why the firing system (dice roll) works for that game. Here you have REAL LIVE humans behind the controls, and RNG....we hate RNG.

Two completely different games made by two completely different company's with different outlooks. Both are being published by IGP since there the ones now holding the license to the MW name.
