Proto mechs come later in the timeline. The biggest one was 10 tons I think.

However, as far as actual mechs go. I think 15 still counts as a standard "mech" Proto mechs, power armor, and elemental suits are below 15 tons.

Protomechs still counted as "battlemechs", but where under the 20 ton threshold from my understanding (which I could be wrong). It's basically just a class designation, such as basically calling it "ultralight mechs".

Though I do not doubt there is a 15 ton battlemech, I don't know if it would be classified as a Protomech or a light mech. From my understanding, it would be classified as a protomech. Once again, I could be completely mistaken. (I claim no such expertise in the absolute lore of Battletech, and only know what I know from the books I have read as well as from Wiki's... :) )

I may just have to take your word on this. (Not that it's overly too important either way really.)

Their Jumpships appeared in system days ago. Their dropships have been in bound to the planet for some time now. Their estimated time of arrival, Monday, July 7th, 3050.

I've asked my techs to complete the needed repairs on my Hunchback 4J. These invaders don't know when to quit, and last time they where here, they mauled my right torso section badly. I managed to survive the encounter as well as my mech mostly intact. I was informed my mech will be ready before the enemy dropships land. My lance and I hope we will be in position to continue to repel these invaders.

The fight continues, in Stock Mech Mondays! Coming soon! :D

There are indeed Ultra Light Mechs. A prototype Flea (Flea-14) was reduced to 15 tons for instance, there are a bunch listed here as well. They obviously have weapons that damage BattleMechs, but they are like when you need something fast and armored enough against mostly infantry in BT. I don't think PGI will add them for stock mech folks like us :D. Ultra Lights vs. Ultra Lights, pew pew pew!

@Tesunie, I like you have you favorite stock mech on display in your sig there lol.

It seemed fitting, as I find myself drawn more and more to the mech... And if you notice, it's the OLD 4J appearance. Not the new (ugly) one... I wished they hadn't change the appearance of the hunch when filled with missiles...

The 4J seems to match my playstyle to a T, even for a stock mech. I do see myself as a guard pilot, where I try to protect and support my fellow teammates. The 4J is basically all I could ever want from a stock mech.
(But be careful when/if the King Crab comes out... I think I'm gonna like that mech stock as well... Enough close range punch to protect itself, combined with a nice splattering of LRMs for support... :D )

It seems as though most (almost all) of the Ultra-light mechs are not cannon supported...
So what is the difference between a Protomech and an Ultralight mech? :)

Generally the size/weight and what they were built for. Ultra Lights are generally just 15 tons, extremely rare since there are few canon ones. Think of it as an IS design and designation. Which include the Flea-14, Celerity, and Patron and Pompier Mechs.

ProtoMechs are anywhere between 2 and 9 tons and are essentially oversized power armor (later there are "ultra heavy protomechs" which go up to 15 tons), and is a Clan design and designation.

The enemy landing zones are still being calculated by our analysis teams. For now, the techs are placing the last of my ammo into my mech and finishing the last few pieces before the engagement. I'm scheduled to run the mech through a few diagnostics and test runs tommorrow.

I've been assigned to a front line engagement unit, were we will quickly be finding and engaging the enemy. I have left a letter to my brother who's on assignment elsewhere encase the worse happens and I don't return. One never knows what will happen when out on a mission, best to just be prepared.

My lance mates seem unconcerned about the matter, but you can feel the tension palpitate beneath the surface. There is a tension in the air. There is very little time now before these invaders make touchdown. Our jobs are to repel them from the main population centers. Hopefully we can repel them right back into their dropships and off my world.

We have till monday to prepare everything. Just a few more days away...

(For the record, these "persona" posts are just bumps for the thread. Figured it'd help bring attention to the event in a fun and entertaining manner. Anyone want to take on the voice of the "invaders"? )

These invaders have once more landed on my planet. I don't know how much more of this we can take. We lost an Atlas to them last time they entered into our system before we pushed them into a retreat. Each time they come, it's with a stronger determination. I don't know what they want with this planet, but this is my home, and I won't let them take it.

The analysis team has determined where the enemy are likely to be landing, so my lance has moved out together to confront them with other elements of our unit. I've taken a position close to the intended front lines, and I'll provide what support fire I can for my lance. I just hope it will be enough.

My Cockpit is already getting warm from the walk over to the battlezone. My harness restraints that hold me into my command chair seem to continue to bite into my shoulders as the mech rocks from side to side with every step. Though my cooling vest is making me feel chilled, I'll be happy to have it once the fighting starts. If anyone gets close, it's going to become very hot, both in my cockpit and as a fight.

Only hours left till the intended engagement occurs. Hours before all hell breaks lose. Hours before everyone starts fighting for their lives. We can all only hope and pray we all make it out of this alive.

Stock Mech Monday! Happens today!
(These are rather fun to write up!)

Edit: Looks like I had great timing with my post! It has begun on the other side of the world! May my brothers in arms have good luck in their engagement zones!

Encase people don't get my message in Teamspeak, there is a storm brewing in my area. I might be able to join later, but I'm shutting everything down for now. So if I don't join this week... Stupid weather... :(

A storm rolled into the sector my lance was assigned to. Fierce lighting flashed through the night sky, and the wind whipped around our mechs as the driving rain poured on, obscuring visibility, forcing us to change between our other visual modes while we paroled the grounds of our assigned sector. I fears all night that an ambush was imminent, but thankfully our sensors remained clear of any hostile activity.

However, other places seemed to have been hit hard by these invaders, causing much damage and casualties. We managed as a unit to drive the enemy into the nearby hills. They are still around and still very much a threat. Now though is the time for the techs to salvage what they can. I heard we lost an Awesome today, among other mechs. However, we salvaged a wrecked enemy Battlemaster in exchange. I have confidence that the techs of our unit will manage to patch up what they can. Now if only the injured could be repaired as expertly and quickly as their mechs.

Now, I stand with my lancemates and the remaining active members of my unit to protect while we work on recovering and getting back into a fighting shape. This isn't over yet. Not by a long shot. Not till the enemy has been removed from my planet. My home.

Sorry I wasn't able to join tonight! By the time the storm passed, you guys looked like you were almost done. I'll have to work extra hard to be there next week! I wonder if anyone missed my LRMs though... :(

Nothing like getting your adrenaline going piloting a Locust in stock mode, armored like a JR7-D and SPD-V and super fast! The speed is the best part, knowing the Locust has the true speedster role in stock mode, with little else being able to stay with it. I want to know what a Flea will be like as well.

I should have taken pictures of TygerLily's Commando group, some cool camo on those.
