I remember excitement, joy, anticipation positivity and a general pleasant feeling,
People coming up with ideas for the game, hopes and dreams an stars in their eyes

Now i force myself to come here to see if theres anything like free mechbays goin down.. If im bored.

This forum now reminds me of a graveyard, with sad people wandering around semi lost,
a decommissioned playground with kids sittin around playing with dirt and twigs
Or my grandmas lounge room ( no tv )
A T-rex contemplating how hes actualy gonna be able to make his bed after everyones had their laugh

...

Its effing depressing

Keep up the good work PGI
Who needs a community right?

Ima go hang in the SC forums, they have joy, dreams, excitement, cake and our best interests.

Make the 'New Player Help' section your new home. The feel-good posts have lingered there.

Good Morning sunshine!

Cool stuff coming in the next 24 hours:
- Private Lobbies!
- 3/3/3/3 weight matching

Cool stuff I found in the past 24:
General Taskeen made an epic catalog of...canon mech...er timline...just go check it out.
This dude, Agent Cooper is making a dope statue of the Misery.

Community Run Events happening:
- Merc Madness tomorrow (people meeting other units, doing mixed drops in the new lobbies, winning IRL prizes)

I came in at the tail end of the happy times in the community, so I was there for the transition but I don't have that same emotional response that a lot of more veteran players have to the history of the game.

I think the current attitude comes from a combination of a few factors: genuine frustration and suspicion on the part of the original players who have seen excuses and an uncaring attitude from the developers too many times, genuine crybabies who check their dignity at the door the moment they log onto any Internet forum, and phony one-ups-men who have no idea what they're talking about, but can feel the direction the wind is blowing, and know if the crank out some outrage they'll get a nice little pat on the head, but if they say anything positive about the game they can expect more scrutiny than usual.

The last two groups are, I think, worse for the game than any evil/incompetent developer ever could, because they drown out the first group, and are always calling for really stupid changes (the countless 'Roll back to the old UI' threads) or are otherwise trying to just kill the game out of spite because if they can't have what they want, then nobody can (the petition for Microsoft to rescind the MW license from PGI because of 3PV... Because publishers are just climbing over each other to get to this IP and it's limited player base, and they all want to limit approachability to the product to purists who infight and refuse to support it financially over any feature they don't like, amirite?)

I've been playing and posting since the start of 2013, and while there's certainly stuff I would change if I was the Precentor Martial, I still enjoy shooting people in their ferrofibrous faces as much as I ever did. I think the forums are quieter only because many of the problems that once created heated complaints are now not so major or notably 'in the works'.
People who are mostly ok with the situation don't feel the same need to post.

Or people are simply tired about posting about things that won't change (even if they should) and have stopped posting (or moved on to other games).

I remember the old forums too.....

full of Goons and Kong and others spreading misinformation and lies, PGI doing so, and a whole lot of toxic posts.

Last time the forums were remotely "hopeful" was mid Closed Beta.

Yup. It is kinda sad how stagnat the forums have become. Of course it is to be expected with how stagnat the game has become.

Some of the goons made some of the most inspired and insightful posts about this game.

Yep, having a goon presence in the game was a good litmus test of the health of the game...

If goons don't even bother trolling in game anymore then things aren't looking up.

Well, they've been replaced by the Lords, and there is more ggclose to be had. Once the ggclose stops, well, it's probably the end.

Nothing kills a forum faster than overmoderation, which was prevelant back when PGI was biting nails wondering if their baby was going to take flight or not. Between people trying to post outside the box and legendary members screaming at them PGI doesn't have the resources to even entertain new thoughts, moderation stepped in and killed all creativity on the forum until few remain.

some did. some Kong also. Many were just there to watch the world burn. In fact it was largely through the malcontents in both of those units that the Devs got butthurt and stopped communicating for 6 months, and broke the old forums.

So, that begs the question.

Is it working as intended?
