I actually like the heat, because it adds an extra challange.
The only thing that annoys me, is when people come to a stop at the volcano entrance. Especially if they are medium or light mechs and don't let the heavys and assaults charge in.
Or even when that happens with two assaults just standing there.
I remeber one game. We started well and had a 8:0 lead. The remaining enemies were nicely positioned inside the volcano. We decided to charge in, but the two assaults just stopped at the entrance and where slowly taken apart and didn't let anyone pass.
Our lance broke off and decided to use another entrance. We received quite a few "stick together guys!" or "where are you going?".
By the time we arrived at the side entrance our team lost 3 Mechs as they still didn't dare to charge in. When we came in from the side and charged in our team then finally charged in as well and we defeated the enemy fast with losing just one more Mech and won 12:4.
So while Terra Therma sometimes drives me crazy, at the same time I think it's a great map as it teaches people (or should teach people) how to play MWO better.

I don't have a problem with it, but I do dislike HPG for many reasons. Yet others like it and dislike terra. /shrug It looks like it comes down to people liking different things, so that being the case, I vote to keep it and remove HPG and buff all the mechs that I use, and nerf the ones I don't.

Fix the RNG that determines where we drop, not the map itself...

That is not a valid reason to remove a map from the game.
It is a valid reason for people to stop making alpha-machines.

Personally I think it’s a fun map visually but PGI didn’t go far enough. I wish it had more effects like eruptions, magma bombs crashing into the ground with smokey black blasts and bright splashy lava. Maybe towers of rolling black clouds rising from smaller craters, and high winds blowing glowing ember rain in some places. The central volcano should be sucking these winds through its cracks as its heat rises.
Don’t remove the map. That would make the other maps even more over played. The answer would be to ultimately add more maps to the ration. If possible, Id like to see Terra Therma updated with more interesting and exciting visual elements.

Well. It's clear that enough people like this map. And that's okay. Really, the one thing I ask is that it NOT show itself 5/6 times in a row!

I love:
1 - The hot temps and all the heat management that has to be done in the load-out and play-style.
2 - The idea of fighting for a red-hot parcel of a planet is great. Even better when it comes to defend / conquer.
I hate:
1 - The terrain layout. Too basic for battle. Not many strategic moves can be applied. (Why not add some other places with high ground to fight instead of just a big lump in the center?)
2 - Too dar of a map. It would be expected for the lava to emit more light around it. Why is the map "mood" so gloomy when it could be dark as it is where is no lava and brighter when close to lava?
To me the map could very well be remade, the textures could be reused, the terrain changed in a way to make this map not so boring.

Please don't state opinion as fact, most people don't like the map because they charge into the centre like fools and lack the initiative to flank and spank, the map encourages different styles of game play than most other maps. Had plenty of fun times on this map, and some bad, same as most other maps.
You can't fix something if its not broken.

The map is not designed that great for what we need to do in it, in my opinion.
- There's not enough open travel area around the map.
- Every route is surrounded by really high or tall peak formations.
- There's nothing on this map that actually say's "This needs protecting"
- There's nothing on this map that actually could be used as a defensive/fortified location.
- There's no apparent infrastructure for anything happening within the map boundaries.
Flowing Lava creates vast areas of flattened, multi tiered "new terrain", not peaked hills.
(a least in this 1G gravity environment)
[All that work and cost to set up that center area, and nothing indicating industry or movement of resources anywhere. If this is such a rich materials repository where are the machines and movers to recover those materials?]
In my opinion, this map is just not alive enough. There's not enough happening with the environment indicating this is an area in turmoil and constantly changing. The game designers seem to love channeling the players down corridors and paths, which we see on almost every map. If some of the map features were reduced in height, create old lava tube areas, actual transport routes for prime movers of materials, just some life to this map.
I'll point you to a flythrough of "that other game", that has a Volcano map that has heat shimmer caused by fresh Lava flows. Thermal mirage effects and still a reasonably bright map. Lava so intense it casts it's own light. And that map didn't need to be populated with peaked structures everywhere. Just take a look.

Same CryEngine, using the same elements.
