Do you feel like sending them an email every now and then and saying "Hey, need any help? Been there, done that..."

I do for sure. I had the chance to speak with Chris about SC and the campaign last year before and after attending a few panels.

I hope you have some decent gear HOTAS, pedals etc.. be a shame to spend the money on vice admiral, and use a cheap logitech joystick

I have a CH Products HOTAS+pedals+MFP and I also use it for MWO (throttle and pedals + mouse). It works very well and it's also really immersive.
(ps: thanks for adding the Track IR! )
Btw, I'm not surprised for the daley either. I think they should just take their time and deliver the alpha when it's quite stable and enjoyable. I don't mind encountering bugs but getting, for example, a critical error/crash every 5 minutes could be frustrating.

Hey... I am planning to use a cheap Logitech Joystick...... (Hiding the fact that my account is rated for High Admiral.) I would probably be the closest to my favourite joystick the MS 3D Pro...
But than again.. I need to see the actual game setup...
Still does not know if SC is dual cross hair system like MWO.. Or more traditional...
Going have a big hoo haa.. it if turns out that you can do pin point super fast aiming with the mouse versus the joystick.

I'll wait and see how the filght mechanics are, before I decide to get me a new one though. If I can do with the small throttle on the joystick, I'll might hold of investing in a new CH-Throttle.
Other then that, here is my profile. Look at my citizen number and explode into envy because I'll probably be among the first to try the multiplayer component of the Arena Commander.

But I gotta say, I also have a controller backup (just in case), and the keyboard mouse.
I plan to be able to shift quickly from one to the other, because when you guys go around in your big ships, I plan on going inside them on foot to take things over from the inside. Punch a hole (or go through the hanger), get inside, take out forces manning turrets and then flush to the bridge and engine rooms.
You keep your hotas gear in hand. But I hope you guys have a fallback plan when I'm inside your ship. Actually, no I don't.
I want you to to be glued to your sticks.
Nothing will be more satisfying than walking up to someone's cockpit, opening the door and saying... "Hey there, how ya doin'?" with my handgun ready... while you have to go through all the animations of leaving your seat.

Sort of not worth it at this point of time.. Because you will have to pay for access and there is a LONG queue...
You might wait and see whether you like spacesims... after the review is out... (So you do not disappoint yourself.) Meanwhile you can always create an account first and scope out their website and forums...

Up to you, depends on if there's still Alpha positions available. Right now I've got a ship with alpha and beta access (and the game) and some credits. I was much too late for the 'lifetime' insurance (the game has repair and rearm, it also has 'total loss'). It's a really neat concept. The question is whether or not they can pull it off.
I will say this. They are between 4k and 8k resolution in their textures and it looks ******* beautiful!
Meanwhile me and Lordred are struggling to get PGI to get back to 2k resolution textures.
This seems to be new:
A contest going on where fans / soon to be players are literally designing their own ships for the game.

Sounds like a great idea you help them out with bugs, and maybe PGI can learn a thing or two from RSI about Community managment...

Ow. But truth to it. They have done an excellent job, and there's always something to learn. Part of the challenge is due to our CM team being in Montreal and there is a slight disconnect. We recently hired Niko to come join us, he will be in house by July 1st. We have already been able to effect change since he joined us a few months ago, and I expect a lot more once he's here.
