Currently I cant afford to buy the $120 legendary, but I plan on getting the $60 package sometime before the 7th. And as a birthday present, if it is possible, my girlfriend is going to upgrade it to the legendary for $60.

So, in a way I'm butthurt that I'm having money problems and would like to be able to not worry about it and just buy the damn thing. Yes I dont think its worth $120, I think thats a bit excessive. But I still plan on somehow getting it, because I'm that willing to support PGI and the Battletech universe. The only thing I want to know is will buying the $60 package then let me just pay another $60 to get legendary with no conflict?

Played WoT from its Russian (the very first) closed beta, then till now, almost not spend anything at game, and you know why i spent $ there? Because devs there listen to what people say, and not like WG where moderators just close and delete countless posts and threads.
Also you pretty much don't have any diversity or customization in WoT, you get new *item* you normaly buy it instead of older one, because new is better, and so everyone run same version of tanks (only exception are KV where you can go with zis6 or with 152mm)
hugely expensive packs? Look for Premium tanks in WoT, they go (we don't talk about some low lvl useless crap) from 30$ up to 50-60, so you still wanna say that Founders are similar? Hugely expensive?

It all comes down to this folks. Its ones choice to pay money Piranha isn't holding a gun to your head or saying if you don't buy one of these packages we will ban you from the game. Here is a term that many in here know. From a game that should still be in beta I might add "Wallet Warrior" ring a bell? Yes I have several premium tanks in World Of Tanks and those tanks earn me a ton of ingame cash and XP. So in the long run those lifetime Mechs are earning you Cbills and extra XP everytime they hit the playing field or at least the first match of everyday in I hope the pryor is the case for all. To be or not to be is the question only you can answer. If you are to be mow a few more lawns and save and recycle all your soda cans and your dilemma has been solved.

In view of the failed or horrible launches the last few years the fact they asking you to pay for something they wont
let you look at .(something about that just dont sound right to me),Saying you might me able to get into the beta..
I am sorry but this sound a little fishy to me.Hopefully I am wrong but I stand my ground , no try no buy.

Look, Elite is actually a good deal. Legendary's value is more questionable, but no one is making you buy that. If you have the extra cash and want to drop it to show your support and scoop up all 4 mechs so be it. I think most the butthurt is from those who either can't afford it or were just looking for a free ride.

They're not asking you to pay for it. They're giving you the option of paying for it early, and if you so choose to you they've decided to reward us with certain things depending on the amount we're willing to spend up front.

Also If you're looking to recent launches in this kind of game look to WoT and its seamless launch... and since MWO is following much the same path to official release....

I believe I know exactly what I'm going to get: I'm going to get a mechwarrior simulator multiplayer only game relying heavily on a F2P model that has been very successful in World of Tanks. That seems pretty "well-cut" to me.

Enough at least for me to spend 60 bucks.

I have no problem with Piranha or any of their associates getting a payday at this point. It's not like they're asking for 'preorders' on vaporware, and the $120 I just plunked down on a Legendary is nothing compared to what I spent on WoT last year (Sorry guys, but you've been replaced!). IMAO, anyone that would get upset for the devs making a buck now just 'cause it's a FtP offering is the same sort that shorts on the tip at restaurants because the staff already gets a wage. These guys have been working like dogs to get this thing out the door. Let them have their bone...

You do not have to pay anything... same with everyone else.

I paid because I remember how much this game meant to mean when I was young. I still have mememories of Mechwarrior 3, Mech 4 and Mercs.. things I will never forget. It was a huge part of my life.

I gladly gave my money to help them out. However, I will not pay another dime until I see how this game is going. If I like the game.. well these guys may have several more hundreds from me :P

Wow, a company wants to charge money for their products and services, the world must be coming to an end.

No way I'm paying $120. That's just silly.

Definitely - you'd need to be some sort of Battletech Fanboi to pay 120USD......

It seems like exploiting the longtime diehard fans enthuisasm rather than delivering anything worthwhile to them. This definitely is a huge negative for me. I never remember paying more than 50 dollars for any other mech game, heck the boardgame box sets costed less, the most I spent was on minis which was optional. What do you all see that I dont?

^ That last line is my favorite. "The most I spent was on minis, which was optional."

Founder's Pack is optional.

so what? I've said it before they are a company and they are here to make money. the whole point of a "founders program" is to contribute to the creation of a game.. and now with this huge infusion of cash they are getting during the development and testing part of the game. it will only make the game better when it does come out. as meany have said here its really your choice what you do and its your money if you don't like it don't buy it.. but don't cry when your getting cored by us later.

I'm disappointed mostly because world of tanks is basically just a long grind and the mmo aspect of it is almost non-existent. And that grind system is pretty much tied to the business side. People are "encouraged" by the system to spend money to shorten the grind.

Tbh I was expecting mwo devs to create something of their own instead of making it world of mechs.

Hopefully there won't be random dice roll damage model accompanied with bad matchmaker. Still hopeful it can be fun to play but with these prices I'm not going to spend a dime on this.

OMG, I couldn't have said it better. They have a different game model, maybee, but I am betting you will see the same mechs using the SAME equipment.

If you LOVE World of Tanks by all means buy the pack and have a great time. If you haven't spent any money on WoT then do the same here. The Business model looks the same and unless something happens in the next few weeks this game will be World of Tanks with mechs...

And to guess,

when you fire missles its going to be a DICE roll
when you fire AutoCannons its going to be a DICE Roll

The only thing you that will be more skill then luck will be direct fire instant hit weapons, and they will do a fraction of the damage to any one location.

How can anyone justify spending money on something with such little actual game play and all hype?
